I love the house we live in. It came with a built in food storage room. Which now is filled to the brim. As we been knowingly prrparing. Living in Mormon land Ut... I m not LDS.. But my German family always lived off their land.... So a second room got converted i to a long term food storage... so that helps. Both rooms stay below 70 F and do not have a lot of light comming in. I cant believe how expensive groceries gotten. 2020... pandemic and a lausy president. God help us.
I'm 52 and been canning since I was 15, your pantry took me way back cause my grandmother's was exactly like yours! Same size, shape and color I couldn't believe it. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!
I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE LOVES TO CAN!! I LOVE IT RELAXES ME.. I ALSO HAVE A GARDEN I GET A SENSE OF ACCOMPLIMENT..IF PEOPLE COME TO MY HOME MY PANTRY IS LARGE AND OFF MY KITCHEN. THE FIRST THING THEY SAY IS. BOY THATS ALOT OF FOOD AND DON'T YOU GET TIRED OF THIS?? OR ARE YOU CRAZY?? I THINK TO MYSELF I WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING OUT IN BAD WEATHER..OR A RUN ON THE STORES..SO GOD BLESS YOU!!
Hi I'm live in South Bend area I see you mite live in northern Indiana too? . I'm retired owner operator truck driver my wife is in a wheelchair and we watch Homestead video a lot . I sold my 37 acre homestead and live in a Apt. It was a life changing event but I love all homestead channel, so I subscribe to your channel. Remember safety is number one on your homestead.
You are absolutely right about having husbands who appreciate what we do in terms of food prep and proper storage needs. I am one of the lucky ones. My very capable husband just built both a food storage and a dehydrating station to boot where I keep a large and small Excalibur dehydrator and my Nesco. Once garden harvest season takes off next year they will all be working. I also can and stock up on many great deals I find on foods here and there. I feel so blessed. Happy wife, happy life 😉🌸. Love your pantry. Nice bright and clean.
Lol!!! Your pantry is gorgeous and I am building one of my own! The Lord bless you for it! My husband will NEVER eat anything that I can, sad face! He is an all American type person grown in the 50s" !!! Still!!! Thank you for sharing your gems with me.
What you need on your shelves are some safety belts...to provide your canning to fall in case you push something ..when on the ladder ...it is fairly squeezed there......already good to have extra shelves but i think you still need to put some sort of protection to keep your canning to fall...
Just found you love your pantry and your ideas in storage. You are blessed to have someone who shares in your passion.looking forward to watching your videos.
Love your pantry, it's nice to have space where you can put things and store your food it's always fun to see other people's hard work I too am a canner and love to can food and watch videos to show me more ideas than I have thank you for sharing your pantry with us
Hey were practically neighbors. Im below the northern tier of counties but i grew up in Gary i used to walk to Miller beach! Small world LOVE ur storage n canning projects!
Love your pantry. Thanks for the video. I'm just starting to can so this is very helpful... Trying to figure out how to organize our pantry and create more room!
I wish my house had come with a bar I could rip out & build a pantry! Instead I’ve got a 1920’s (100 yrs old) that came with a Michigan basement (I wonder why it’s called that). I’m from northern Indiana, too, in fact it’s so northern the area is called "Michiana" - that’s a cross between Indiana & Michigan, for those who don’t know.
Love your pantry. I just found your channel and am now subscribed so look forward to watching your videos and catching up on the ones I’ve missed. From Elissa at Moat Cottage in Australia
We call my pantry, The Rat Room lol because we had a rat problem living out like we do. It is not full by any means but I am working on filling it up. Once it is full then the back room will be extended pantry storage. I love your pantry, so nice and clean!!
Gimpy Granny thank you! It’s a dream come true for sure. I love having a mini grocery store I can just run int and pick out what I need and never leave my house. Especially after these -degree windchills we’ve been having.
You are most welcome. It is a beautiful pantry, one to be proud of for sure. Mine is completely torn apart due to the damage we had from our fridge exploding. Once I am able to walk in it again ( I have to haul all the stuff out first) Then I can start repairing and get it back together. Hopefully, it will turn out to be as nice as yours is!!
I am beginner in canning don't know how long should I store food is a good for more than one year or do we have to eat all that we can with in a year ? Ty
It looks fantastic congratulations. Don’t you think you might need to bult braces on your shelves in case of an earth shake so your jars do not fall and brake? After all that planing it would be a waste. Lovely work
Carmen J Reguero maybe but in my almost 50 years of life we’ve never had an earthquake of any size up here in northern Indiana. It’s always a valid consideration though, thank you!
Natasha, Loved your informative video. You said something I would like to know about. You stated you would put dry stuff in your big jars THEN vacuum seal the jar. Please tell me what you vacuum seal the jars with. The name & model number would be wonderful please. I want to do this with dry beans etc.....Thank You, Judy
honey be careful, stacking your home canned jars can cause a "false" seal, you can lose all the bottom canned food. you have a great pantry blessings, linda
Natasha Life's so Posh you are right, l could not see that. l love your extended room. we have one in our basement, a bit wider but otherwise the about the same, one upstairs a room about 10x 12 and an area of the laundry room, never seems enough, l recently bought a second treadle machine, just in case. do you ever worry not enough or you forgot something. l have a notebook l seem to constantly writing down stuff. l need a better peace not fear, l pray the Lord gives me that soon, hugs and blessings, linda
I'm just getting started with canning and have been concerned about the stacking issue. Do you just put a piece of cardboard over the top of each of the jars on the bottom?
I'm a total newbie to canning. Glad I saw this comment. I've been putting my canned stuff in the box the jars came in just for the ease of it. Little did I know I was actually protecting by food! Do you have any recommendations for canning books? I'm going to buy a pressure canner, heard all American is the best. Any channels you recommend? Any help is appreciated. My husband is totally supportive and even gets involved in the process 😁 today we canned roasted peppers!
You should consider having your hubby make you earthquake boards to keep your jars from toppling off those shelves if you ever have one. And this day on age more and more places that don't normally get whales are getting them. Better to be prepared and careful then to be sorry.
Love your pantry i do have a question .....I am a new canner and dehydrating person ... My question is when you can your jellies and jams and pie fillings or anything with sugar can you use something else my husband is also a diabetic ?
Rebecca Harp so on the top shelves on one side is bottles of alcohol and on the other side is empty jars. So canned foods are not at the top. Also there is a vent in there to pull out the stale air.
I've bought a bunch of them from Walmart and there is no shipping if you pick up at the store www.walmart.com/ip/Ball-Wide-Mouth-Half-Gallon-64-Oz-Glass-Mason-Jars-with-Lids-and-Bands-6-Count/21290198 I've also found them online at several places, but watch for the online stores that ship free because those things are heavy and I was badly stung by shipping on a few cases I bought online when I was new to the Internet (the year after home PC's came onto the market, lol) Home Depot and ACE Hardware also have them (call first, they probably would need to order) I just found some gallon sized canning jars here www.bhg.com/shop/kitchen/1-gallon-canning-jars-s.html I think I'll get a box of those and use for pickles.
team Bennett-wells we do and I go by the adage, “can what you eat, eat what you can.” We had bacon bits on our green beans that I had fried up in my cast iron Dutch oven and canned a couple years ago.
Hi there I just found your channel . I have a Question where in the heck did you find such a large beef bouilon jar? Please excuse my spelling it went out the window with my youth. LOL
That is not a pantry but a grocery store. All your missing is shoping kart and a register. LOL I'm stating mine but my wife tells me not to over do it or horde food that may go to waste and defite the purpose.
David Vasquez that is a legitimate concern but for us I make sure to rotate the food. Newest goes on the tops shelves and moves down as new items replace the old. I work from the bottom up. Also, they like to say eat what your store and only store what you eat. An example would be; a lot of people store five gallon buckets of sugar and flour but my husband is a type one diabetic so we rarely eat baked goods. So storing a lot of those would be hoarding and a waste.
Natasha, get Monk Fruit for your husband. Better than sugar, no aftertaste like Stevia, does not spike blood sugar, no calories, keto and taste just like sugar. You cannot tell the difference. Buy at Amazon. You can use it in anything.

Natasha Life's so Posh awwww well thank you!!!!!! Your video popped up on my side bar! 😁 I’m so glad it did. Now I am subscribed to you!!!!😁👏🏻❤️
I love the idea of meal in a can.
Your very own mini market . All you need is a wire basket to have that shipping experience. 🤩
I love your Pantry, it's so organized! Love your video's on canning! I'm learning so much!
Thank you 💖

Love your pantry. Thanks for the video. I'm just starting to can so this is very helpful... Trying to figure out how to organize our pantry and create more room!
Desma Hart good for you. I love canning but you do end up needing lots of space. Lol
I was up last night, asking my husband how we could build a pantry similar to yours... LOL... Working on ideas. Have a great weekend!
Very nice! I have a much smaller version, but I LOVE it.
Great idea with the use of your space. I'm looking for ideas because I am also going to be putting up shelf's in a room in our house.
jennifer gardner awesome I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Nice. Love it. You can use it for other food storage as well as canning. Love the pantry.
GREAT JOB HUBBY. LOVE THE PANTRY SUBBING GOD BLESS
contreeman thanks! He did an awesome job.
I just found your channel. I too love to can lots of food, i'm look forward to checking out your videos
Fantastic pantry. Please put a rail across glass items to prevent the glass jars from falling/breaking during earthquake.
pspcraft not an issue here. But if I was concerned I’d use bungee cords
Fair enough. I hadn't got to that part of the video when I wrote the comment - lol
I like the pantry. 👍
Love your extended pantry! I am jealous and will be asking my husband to help me create us one
Nice pantry .
This is my first video I've seen of yours. I SUBBED! So many things I can relate too. LOVE the pantry!

I would like to come accross ur house on the apocalypse..so many food
I love your closet. Will you make canning videos.. I am interested in how to make cream corn from scratch and can.
Looks great. Interesting about the bar though. ^_^
I am beginner in canning don't know how long should I store food is a good for more than one year or do we have to eat all that we can with in a year ? Ty
just subbed love the pantry

Carmen J Reguero maybe but in my almost 50 years of life we’ve never had an earthquake of any size up here in northern Indiana. It’s always a valid consideration though, thank you!
I don't know why but I think about earthquakes these days and where to set up my cans ..a shelf with a lip in the front that jars can't fall...
Issues are not really a concern here. Now a tornado which we do have, would wipe out the entire pantry, lip or not.
I got mine online from Amazon www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-T03-0023-01-Wide-Mouth-Jar-Sealer/dp/B00005TN7H
I was told that you should never stack jars directly on top of each other? I would love to have a space like yours ❣️
Do you have a tutorial on canning ghee?
honey be careful, stacking your home canned jars can cause a "false" seal, you can lose all the bottom canned food. you have a great pantry blessings, linda
Linda Foulke thank you but what you can't see is the cardboard between them to prevent that from happening.
Simple Suburban Living a sheet of cardboard between the two layers.
I am very short, so, how do you get to the top of the shelves without falling off a ladder?
You should consider having your hubby make you earthquake boards to keep your jars from toppling off those shelves if you ever have one. And this day on age more and more places that don't normally get whales are getting them. Better to be prepared and careful then to be sorry.
Love your pantry i do have a question .....I am a new canner and dehydrating person ... My question is when you can your jellies and jams and pie fillings or anything with sugar can you use something else my husband is also a diabetic ?
There are some no sugar or low sugar recipes out there. I would try googling low or no sugar jam or whatever in the flavor you like. ❤️
Hi, I thought one should not store home canned foods up high, but cool and dry. Do cool and up high go together?
Rebecca Harp so on the top shelves on one side is bottles of alcohol and on the other side is empty jars. So canned foods are not at the top. Also there is a vent in there to pull out the stale air.
@@Simplylivinglifethebestican Thank you
where do you buy the big jars for storage? the half gallon one?
suppa suggie my local ace hardware and sometimes Walmart has them.
Do you eat from the canned food regularly? How do you make sure you dont waste it?
team Bennett-wells we do and I go by the adage, “can what you eat, eat what you can.” We had bacon bits on our green beans that I had fried up in my cast iron Dutch oven and canned a couple years ago.
I thought you weren't supposed to double stack as it can create a false seal.
HammiesandHedgies as long as there's cardboard in between like mine are it's always good!
New sub from s e Tx.xxoo
Thought you weren't supposed to stack canned goods. 3rd shelf on left
Michelle Clements Davis there’s cardboard in between. It’s all good.
Its now allowed. Canning rules keep changing as research shows what can be safely done
Hi there I just found your channel . I have a Question where in the heck did you find such a large beef bouilon jar? Please excuse my spelling it went out the window with my youth. LOL
Lol Gail Reese I get them from amazon!
you can get it way cheaper on walmart delivery. I have beef, chicken, and tomato.
Tdew DN thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. Always up for saving some money.
stacking canning jars, that is a no no,all kinds of dangerous
Linda Taylor we’ve discussed this in previous comments. There is a layer of cardboard between them. So don’t worry yourself they are fine.
That is not a pantry but a grocery store. All your missing is shoping kart and a register. LOL
