Canada wasn't the problem, recievers were running wide open and Kenny didn't see them ,he continued to roll out of the pocket cutting the field in half,on one play Calvin Austin's man had fell down and Austin was wide open and no one was 15 yards near him but Kenny bailed out of the pocket and rolled right making the left side of the field irrelevant but Canada might be one of the offenses problems but he wasn't yesterday it's not like Canada turned the ball over twice

Yesterday's "Black 'N Gold Beat Down Sunday" was no fun. But remember the Bills and Eagles games early last season? Those were even worse so there's only one place to go . . . up, right? At least T.J. showed up and did his job splendidly.
You said it right, It's a weird start. This game reminded me a quote you said in another video. "The shell of Large Benjamin would have put us in a a better position" (Not the exact quote but you get the point). Hope we don't talk about this comparisons too often. On a positive side, good to have the vids back.

I have to say I’ve been so excited for the new season (of your show not just the NFL season). I started watching you at the beginning of last season and I’m so happy I did. I couldn’t watch the game Sunday unfortunately because my best friend decided to have his wedding in New York City the same weekend and if I can’t watch the full game live I like to wait til I can watch it in full later. And honestly I was thinking “hey at least I can watch 5star and that’ll cheer me up”. But after seeing the score by someone else showing me and hearing everything about it and also seeing this video pop up with the title you chose I put off watching this video. I’ve been dreading it because I knew you’d give it to me straight and sometimes you just want someone to lie to you honestly. But I finally decided it was time. As sad as this game was I’m glad your back brother.

@@5StarMatchup yeah we have to realize we’re building a team right now and shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. I still have faith Kenny is our guy. He showed too much promise and grit last season to give up on him yet. I mean look at how josh Allen played this past weekend, almost the same yards with two more interceptions but no one expects him not to bounce back. Excited for Monday night.
As far Canada's offense goes the only thing I can think of is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. Looked like Pickett finally got a little rhythm going at the end of the first half in the hurry up, any decent coordinator would've seen that and went with it in the second half. But then again that's why they make the big bucks and I'm some dude typing comments on RUclips fml

@@BPodShorts call me crazy but they need quick little routes to get Pickett in rhythm, 3 step drop and throw the ball. Quick slants, 5-6 yard outs and ins, same with quick hitches. And I know I'm off the ledge but ffs can we go deep to Pickens at least 1-2 a quarter?... Also if they're coming with their ears back then how about a freaking SCREEN PASS. I honestly think Pickett was trying to hard, trying to make a play that wasn't there and take what the defense gives. He also needs to learn when the play is over and throw it away, man do I sound like a Monday morning quarterback. My apologies for the rant, I'm routing for the kid really am. I think the bigger problem is canada he does not know how to use his players he cant draw up a good game plan to save his job it's sad to watch tomlin did fuck up big time not replacing yet it would had been easier for kenny to learn a new system than learn this bs just to have learn something else next year we are not going anywhere no time soon I give it maybe 2 to 3 years away b4 we are real contenders

Good to have you back! This was 60 minutes of pain but I needed an extra dose of crippling depression so hey it all works out. All jokes aside, Canada's system clearly just doesn't work. So many times KP had nowhere to throw and took the coverage sack. The OL deserves a call out here here too, they were getting blown up in the middle on every play making KP look nervous and unable to step into throws for accuracy. Couldn't open anything in the run game either. Pretty much all our success this year hinges on the OL improving, so if it doesn't, it's going to be another long, frustrating year I feel. Granted, this DL is one of the best in football, so hopefully things balance out.

I'd argue what we saw yesterday was a team that came into this game with a bunch of continuity vs. a team that's implementing a bunch of new parts and that can only get better as the season goes along. I will say the two most discouraging things about yesterday was how quickly we abandoned the run and how off Pickett was despite having some decent pockets to throw from. It was a long day yesterday but this feels different from years' past as albeit it was preseason, we've seen a version of what this team is capable of. Besides, there's not another team on the schedule like the 49ers. We will be fine.

I was pretty sure we were losing this game from the time the schedule was released. Our first drive confirmed my fears. The Niners first drive cemented it. Now we are all left wondering (AGAIN) exactly what this team is. Great vid even though, in my opinion, you were nowhere near negative enough about how awful this particular product was.

Because you CAN'T gauge a team on how it's going to preform during the season when during the preseason the ppl that are playing are moving pieces and the BIGGEST REASON WHY is teams aren't playing FULL GAMES with their starters during the preseason so in the end a good percentage of the ppl your team plays against in the preseason might not be there the next time you play them!!!😉*

And one thing that is a fail safe tale of how our seasons go is preseason….the worse preseason we have the better the season and vise versa…….and after watching this preseason and then all the dumbass hype that followed I knew then and there we weren’t going to have a good start at all…we never do

yeah I'm with ya. Tough opponent + bad matchup + week 1 = looks worse than it was. Still, it wasn't encouraging by any stretch and the injuries could be problematic.
@@5StarMatchup I hear ya. I’m just trying to stay positive. My honest opinion? Yesterday was an accurate representation of what this team is. I think we can compete with mid level teams and even beat them, but we are limited against the real elite level teams that are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. There’s a massive gap in talent between the 49ers and Steelers on offense. We don’t have their offensive line, we don’t have a CMac type player, Muth is not Kittle, Deonte is not Deebo or Aiyuk, we think Pickens will be good but right now all we know is that he can make some tough catches. All that to say, SteelerNation should do better at managing our expectations for this team. It doesn’t help when Ryan Clark is on TV saying Pickens is more talented than Jefferson. Objectivity is not a virtue of SteelerNation lol.

I was so pissed watching that game. All the hype, training camp, preseason, everything pointed to a huge jump for this team and we lay an egg against a better team that we should've kept it close with. Took off my Pickett jersey by Q2, but I'm not giving upon him just yet. Week 1 IS weird sometimes. Hopefully this is a fluke, but with Canada in charge, I'll never expect a lot from this team.

Interesting that our team has looked almost identical for at least the last 5 years despite completely overhauling the roster. I mean this whole offseason was about versatility for the secondary, revamped oline, skill players gettiing older and better, but we had the same problems we do every time we come up against a wel coached team. It can't be personnel, too much has changed. Why did we go through these great drafts and free agency periods to overhaul a roster then do the exact shit we have done for years? The shit that hasn't been working?
I dont know the answers but I know that Tomlin has to carry some of this blame. The personnel has changed, most of the coaching staff and philosophy hasn't. I don't know if the nfl has just passed him by and we can't modernize, but it feels like we have a gm ahead of his time and a coach that hasnt adjusted to a totally overhauled roster. Let alone him keeping Canada around, at this point I don't know what to say. It's absolute insanity to let him call plays still when the results are consistently terrible.
We also need to include Teryl Austin in the conversation. You can't have this many star defensive talents and produce these kind of results. It's just not acceptable, but every coach on this team except Canada keeps getting a pass from most people.

I really can't have a problem with Naj, he had six carries yesterday and still made the best offensive play of the game. Running game the least of my concerns from yesterday.
Defense could have been better but the offense is the biggest common denominator they can’t even catch their breath out there at least TJ showed up

Yeah this was an embarrassing start. Watching the Browns mercilessly wreck Bengals yesterday scares me that I will be sitting there in person watching this game on Monday night. We cannot allow the Browns to embarrass us like the 49ers did. I just cannot have that.

I knew when he took that sack and smacked the back of his head with good velocity he could be concussed. He played like he was two steps behind and was anxious in the pocket and missed some based throws. Not making excuses for him but the two concussions he had prior looked very similar to this. As concussions stack up, the easier they become to get. My guess, he felt the pressure of all the hype, home opener, kept it quiet and play through it. He may not have been fully concussed but at the NFL level, if you aren’t there 100% mentally, it’s going to show, multiplied by 100 at the QB position. If he has consecutive games like this then that is another discussion. But when he hit his head, I for sure thought he would be in concussion protocol.

I think you're overlooking a bit of Ben's negativity. I love the vids, and KP8 had a bad game, but Ben's been tackled by the shoestring and has thrown many a pick, missed receivers, etc.
Agreed but even within this first few games of his career he had made many game winning plays. Still waiting on to see it more consistently from the new guy.

Nobody had a good game. Kenny was missing throws left and right, the o line was horrible and got Kenny sacked 5 times, Canada insisted on trying to run it up the gut on 1st and 10 against the 49ers front for the entire first half, what’s a run defense?, the pathetic soft zone we play had receivers wiiiide open all game, etc. The only person who did anything right was TJ, which it’s encouraging to see that he’s back to his old self again, but everybody else needs to get it together. We have an extra day to prepare for the Browns and it’s another home game, so I think they’ll be able to make some adjustments and hopefully even our record next week.
Can we cry together? The fact they ran the ball 6 times with Najee is proof they didn’t even want to win…. Why draft a RB in the first round to not use him? This shit makes absolutely no sense.
Calvin Austin was a bright spot. Bro was making people miss and making the most of his opportunities. Also on the play that you described as depressing it looked like Diontae Johnson was jogging the route, not really running it seriously. If he had been properly running that throw would have been catchable for him. McFarland was also a bright spot. And on that same play in the scoring drive that the refs missed an obvious offsides Pickens was also interfered with so he wouldn't have a shot at the deep ball.

As depressing as it was.... I don't think its as bad as it looks either. It would be different if they got blown out and played well, but that was the worst I've seen a Steelers team play all around in a long time. If Kenny hits a couple of those throws theyre in the game, and he will in upcoming games.
What I am worried about though, is once again, it seems like we have one of the worst secondaries in the league. It's been the same problems for the last 5 years at least, dogshit secondary and a dogshit O-line. I think at this point it is pretty obvious it is down to coaching. New year, new players, same problems. Canada at this point 100% has to go, and I really hate to say it, but Tomlin might not be far behind him. They havnt won a playoff game in 5 years and he's touted as an elite coach. The Steelers are riding on legacy at this point, if they were any other team besides for instance the Cowboys, they would be looked at around the league as the bum organization they have been for the last near decade.
