A Solution for Being One Set of Remotes Short

- It's not uncommon, as your farming practice grows, to add an implement that needs more remote hydraulic connections than your tractor has. If you purchased a 60 hp tractor with one set of remotes and then bought a pull type disc mower that has a cylinder to raise and lower the machine and another to fold it out to field position, you'd be in trouble. You could drive to the field with the hydraulic hoses plugged into the lines that connect to the folding cylinder, move the machine out to cut, then unplug the lines, plug in the other lines and lower the machine. Then you'd be ready to cut. To leave the field you would reverse the process. It would be cumbersome at best.
If you couldn't get a second set of remotes for your tractor from the local dealer, you might think you needed to trade tractors to remedy the problem. But, there is another solution and it'll work on any tractor that has at least one set of remotes, from a 30 hp compact to a 450 hp row crop tractor. It's called a hydraulic multiplier, and in this video I show you how it works.

This is a great piece of equipment. I have been wanting to add another set of hydraulics to my 1998 Kubota. As you said the dealer estimated the cost to be an additional $1500.00 .

That's extremely slick Mike. I can't believe that no one has thought of this before. I suppose that one could put something together with off the shelf parts where you'd have to get out of the tractor, go back to the diverter and flip a lever from one set to the other. That would be a LOT better than switching hoses but not as non-skid as this unit. Or rig a mechanical linkage up to the cab from your cobbled together thing. But that would be a lot of work and puzzlin' out. Ever see anybody do anything like that Mike?

With the elbow set, you can turn them just right and the valve box will actually be upright instead of turned to the side. I FINALLY figured this puzzle out on my JD 5075e. The elbow set is for the when the factory remotes are stacked instead of beside each other. So far, it works great. I have the Fasse remote hydraulic set instead of this one by Summit. I use it when I'm bailing for the pickup switch and then for ejecting bales.
I recently bought new tractor and I have to say I just love your channel...No fluff, informative. logical, well made and you are a great presenter. Just to top it off, this is one great item even if I don't thnk I will use it, I now know about it.....Only trouble is Amazon US wouldn't sent it to Australia so would have to find it elsewhere....BUT great review, great work thanks keep it up

I have am older large tractor that's running the loader off the rear 4 ports, I think this will work, but since its always going to be in use I think bolting the box down would be better than hanging off couple fittings
My friend has a block on his baler. Deere initially installed it like what you did. He made them come back and install it on the baler permanently. Two hydraulic lines to couple instead of 4. Ive redone the wiring on the baler so there is 1 wire plug for the bale size alert and hydraulic control instead of 2 and wire his other tractor he got later so we can bale with either tractor now

So I wonder if you could hook this up to the back run lines all the way to the front of the bucket for a grapple. I cant think of a reason you would need both rear and front remotes working at the same time. Then this way you would switch it to the front work your grapple. The switch it to the rear and work your Log splitter or if you did need 2 rear remotes just unplug the front hoses. Have them tied up out of the way and you still have your 2 rear remotes......Great product. If I had rear remotes Id do this for sure!!! In my situation I dont need the remotes all the time but it sure would be nice to have that option.

I never could understand why on a nice tractor , any manufacturer would install just one set of remotes. I think that's just being cheap.
What kind of lubricant do you use (instead of Teflon tape)?
I have 2 remotes. I’d like to have at least 3 but even with those extra pieces he put on there I don’t think it would work because my remotes are so close together and id like to be able to use both
Tractor Mike, my brand new Massey has only one set of rear remotes too. Problem is, how do I get constant flow with a center spring return control lever in my cab? Bungee cord? It's either on when I push or pull, off at rest??
Thanks Mike. I've been looking at the summit multiplier for a while now and been hesitant about pulling the trigger. Have you had a chance to really use it to get a sense of it's capabilities?
Not really, I just hooked it up for the video and then took it off. I was showing it to my neighbor who has a 100 hp Deere tractor that is sometimes one remote short and he asked me to find out what they'd take for it, they shot me a cheap price to keep from having to take it back and he took it, but I'm pretty sure he hasn't used it yet. It's probably still sitting in a bucket in a barn down the road. It's heavy built, of course what's inside is what counts, but that's what I'd buy if I needed one.
Hey Mike- Cant this be used with a tractor that has a power beyond set up, for a backhoe? Trying to find a system that can use that set up already in place, to add two rear remotes.
Can this be used on the bucket hydraulics in order to make it like a third function?
would this work on a ferguson te20 with one spool valve but would only operate 2 out of the 4 new spool valves

I added a fasse valve to my trackless MT5T and the speed of the system is terrible now. One direction it’s kind of “okay”, the other it’s deathly slow

So they're solenoid operated control valves. As opposed to having to add in a double spool valve.
How will this work if I already have a loader on a John Deere and I want to add a angled snow blade? Will it plug into my hydraulic block for loader?
No...it'll plug into the remotes but is not designed for a loader plug-in. Point of confusion on my part. Does the switch merely choose which set of valves is "open" or does it actually control the function of the attachment? I ask because my Mahindra 1533 has a pair of valves for the backhoe but it has its own controls, the connectors merely allow hydraulic fluid to flow to those controls. If I want to control a 3 PT attachment that has a hydraulic function, I also need a control that will send fluid to the cylinder.
It does not control the function of the attachment, it just switches from one set of ports to another.
Why wouldn't you remove the existing couplers and connect the hoses directly to the splitter?
You could. It might be easier to hook the hoses up to the multiplier than trying to hook the multiplier to the tractor with all the hoses in the way, but that would be one hookup versus two. Good point, I'd have to try it both ways to see which way was easier.
Not sure how you are working these cylinders in and out, I have an in and out on the back of my tractor but there is no lever that controls it, it looks like you have several levers on your tractor.

Is this a good choice to hook to a 3rd function so I can get rear remotes?
I don't think so. If the remote plug in's for the third function are at the front of the loader, definitely not. This is designed for when you have one set of remotes and need two.

I have a mf 231 with no remote hydraulics. Not even for front end loader. I also bought an older post pounder with no pump just hoses.

Helena, you can hook a diverter valve into the 231 that allows you to direct flow from the three point to a front-end loader. It goes between your ankles on the hump and any long-time Massey dealer will know how to install it. It can power a loader, but it only puts out 4.4 gallons per minute so it's going to be slow. That's probably not enough for a post pounder, so, for that, I'd be looking for a PTO powered hydraulic pump which are commonly used on backhoes. However, some post drivers, Worksaver for example, have a cylinder that powers up against spring resistance and then comes crashing down when the flow is reversed while rapidly pumping a gush of oil back into the sump of the tractor. If that's what you have the PTO pump won't work and I'm not sure what you do then.

That is a problem I don't have to worry about with my utility tractor since it, or I should say that they are not that large and I don't have implements which connects like that. That is nice information to know though.

Mike there are many aftermarket companies that make kits to add remotes and/or 3rd function kits. No they are not as nice as a factory kit, but much cheaper than doing piece by piece from the dealer or trading tractors. Failure to mention these is a disservice to your viewers in my opinion.
Are you talking about a diverter valve where you use the three point flow for remotes? Or plumbing into the loader valve? Those are available and might save a few bucks, but they're a little cumbersome to use and eliminate the function of either the three point or the loader bucket. If there are better, cheaper kits out there I'd like to know about them.
Tractor Mike, first I consider what you showed a diverter kit, as you can not do both functions at the same time. There are many of these kits on the market. Many if not most are for the fel for a 3rd function. One such highly review kit is from W R Long.
I have a Yanmar grey tractor, rear remote kits are available from several of the business that support these tractors.
Also there are many places besides the dealer where parts can be purchased to piece together rear remotes. The hard part would be getting into the pressure and returns to the tractors hydraulic system. This may be easiest to get from the dealer or by use of power beyond port if available.
how to use my hydraulics for my backhoe on other implements when the backhoe is not on my tractor? Such as a hydraulic control arm for the three point hitch.

Pat Tierney I have this same valve which worked out well. Recently I snagged a limb and pulled the hoses off the tractor the tractor . In doing so it broke broke a few fittings which I replaced . My question is , how do I check the Solenoids because the valve only has one function?
