Right now I'm in Jaffer Bhai's camp in that I think I will know too much after reading this book but it's been on my TBR since you mentioned it on Stories Tamania so I will read it soon In Shaa Allah.
As always a really insightful and engaging conversation that speaks the truth to the reality of these situations and some excellent thoughts on how to handle things. Would love more insight into how to handle these situations politely because whenever I've spoken to Western professionals, I find they just want me to cut off the toxic individuals which is not always possible so any advice on how to handle within the confines of our culture would be very helpful thank you.

It is really really nice topic, would love to hear more irrespective of the murad mom review etc. Also I would like you to discuss how to deal with a narcissist husband in the light of being Pakistani wife. Like shown in drama jaisay apki marzi. Mostly when you see narcissist behaviour or dealing with a Narcissist, you always get western books or authors or vloggers. They say grey rocking method etc but you know our norms are not like walking away from the relationship easily. We consider people society parents kids. We need to discuss this behaviour also.

What an excellent conversation here 👏🏻👏🏻And can truly related to every point here. And very well explained. I will try to get this book as well.
One suggestion would be to talk more on this and give us more ideas on handling different situations in real life.

So exciting to see you ladies discuss this - I read this book a while ago and sat with my shock multiple times, taking more than 3 months to read this, because it was hard to recognise so many people around me in this, and even some of my own actions.
It helped me change how I was ineffectively dealing with so many emotionally immature people around me - this book should be compulsory reading!

Wow loved the discussion! The topic made me think it was something else (I thought it would tackle us as immature parents raising our little kids but that’s because I haven’t seen the drama). Anyways, thanks for the wonderful insight and I’m gonna borrow that book from the library to read as well ❤

Such an important topic and I love how you guys reiterate that talking about parents objectively is not disrespecting them. My sister and I were analysing adults in the older generation and we mentioned the same ke how come something that went wrong is not their mistake but kismet, halaat ya Allah ki azmaish is the reason but not wrong judgement, or a mere mistake.

Everything I never told you is a good non fiction book on the topic, a little triggering if it hits close to home but it’s a non dramatic read and very realistic representation of emotionally immature parents and the impact it has on children
