I'm in the process of installing a Double Din Head Units in my 10th gen (97-03) F-150 Lariat. I watched your dash rebuild video and spotted your Double Din radio which is hard to retrofit to the 10th gen F-150. The fitment looked good in your video and I noticed you used the Metra 95-5818 trim ring to finish the installation off. Very informative. I've seen a lot of bad installs of Double Din Head Units in the 10th gen F-150 on RUclips. Looks like yours turned out pretty good. Thanks for your video.
Howdy! Not quite. If you just apply ground to the green wire it should unlock the menus. I just have the wire tucked away in the dash so if I need it, I hold it against a piece of metal under the dash and it works fine. Hooking it to the parking brake allows it to function and be legal for video playback as it won't allow you to play video while you're driving.
What about using the brake bypass wire. Will that work? I cant get to my bluetooth settings no more to clear memory and add devices. I'm trying to get access
On my deck it has a green wire for the brake interlock. All I have to do is hold it on a chassis ground and the settings are unlocked. Once you remove the wire from the ground it locks it back again. I use the outside metal piece of a 12v lighter outlet as the ground. Just hold it on the ground while you're changing the settings.
@Mutombe Howdy! I think that would work. I never tried it but I did play with it while the radio was operating and it didn't seem to cause an issue. Thanks!
Thanks! It definitely needs to be grounded so I wouldn't run it to anything with +12v on it. That being said, typically the brake switch is a switched ground so if you can attach it to the switched side of that you'll be good to go. Best regards.
I was going to hook it to the brake but that was a pain so right now I just have the end of it stuck out of the dash near the power ports. If I need it I can hold it on the ground for the power Port and I works fine. Thanks!
Dude u didn't hav to run a ground wire all the way into cab of truck all u had to do was ground the wire anywhere behind deck that's metal or even the key switch is a ground
I had to look him up. I listened to one of his sermons and, though I'm not religious, he speaks very eloquently. I take this as a substantial compliment. Thank you!
Can anyone tell me which colour wire I need to ground ? Someone has changed the wiring for the head unit and the green wire in this video isn’t there. Any help would be appreciated.
Look at a pic of the wiring harness on google images then do the process of elimination. Look at what color and or position they are in. Your might be pink. But the ebrake wire that you want to ground should be the really long wire.
Better now. lol. I sold the old 97 back to the family I bought it from and bought a honda civic hybrid from a junk auction to rebuild. (54mpg is kinda nice.) :-)
Appreciate the video! And anyone ever tell you that you sound like Johnny Depp in Fear and Loathing on Las Vegas? 👍👍
Thanks! Haven't heard that one before. I'll need to watch the movie now and see.

Thanks! You'll need to cut out a bit up top in back of the dash to clear it. Biggest mistake I've usually seen is mounting the unit too low.
Of all the videos i looked at yours helped💪🏾
My man!!!! Thanks dude this help me out crazy I was like im going to be stuck listening to the goddam radio but not no more
dude i smashed my touchscreen over this just put in a new one glad that this is the solution! thank you!
Thanks for the video. I'm currently in the same situation
Thanks a lot! Worked!
I knew i was gonna have to pull the radio out 😩 thanks brother
Grounded mine too a switch simple hit it 2 times boom got everything you need until you shut off your vehicle
Thanks for the video mate it really help me out
Has your radio started not coming on when you start your car? These are notorious for having issues.
Not to this point. Still working well. Thanks!
Is this gonna mess up anything with my rca cables or anything
All you need to do is connect the green brake wire to the black ground wire in the truck
Possibly, but according to the manual for my radio, the brake would need to be pressed, released, and pressed again to unlock it.
You have to pull the Parking brake.
Mine then had the functions 😎
Thanks legend
We just need to ground to 2 different grounds? And hook it to the brake wire. Correct

not only for watching dvd, BUT also for changing the dimmer settings WTF, aint going pioneer no more
worked great Sir ty
according to my book it has to go to the positive side of the parking brake

Running into the same problem never buy pioneer again, shoulda known better after buying their home reciever pos cause it’s so complicated.
Just buy a bypass on Amazon for $10. Not that difficult.
What did you do with the green cable

So that mean I could hook mines to my key switch wire?
Should have just done master reset there's a little round button on the radio you can push in and it will reset the stereo
This doesn’t work
How long you hold it in for 👀

At 9:55 of the video I was focused on the ball of sweat rolling down the back of his head….it soaks into his shirt at 10:13!
Southern Louisiana humidity is real. 😂
