Hi, I am from Sardinia, born and rise here.
Unfortunately it is all true and I can't tell more than the video had already explain. But NATO is not the only and main problem, there are also other industries creating several issues all over the territory. The main problem is the lack of knowledge many of us have towards such arguments, while already my grandparents had knew about such disasters just from the way the tomatoes were tasting, the younger generations don't really care about what is going on. Terrible.

Sadly the younger generations have been mentally conditioned, by the media that raised them. And the nuclear energy propaganda is doing its best to try and restart their nuclear energy business, by claiming it is green and the solution to global warming, which is debatable. Nuclear accidents like Chernobyl and Fukushima threw all the hot particles into the air used to heat water, and create steam, to make electricity. If that does not cause the atmosphere to get warmer, than nothing does, but they are trying to push nuclear as a solution. A hightly toxic waist that remains toxic for billions of years after, and thats not considering the nuclear bombs that can be made from used nuclear fuel. Whisleblower scientists even claim that nuclear energy, was nothin more than a ploy, to make more weapons grade plutonium and uranium 235 through nuclear fusion, which is what nuclear power plants do. Basically nuclear science is a death cult, and everyone involved needs to be tried for crimes against humanity.

What about northern Sardinia? I was a nuclear components welder on a submarine tender (USS Orion) stationed there with the US Navy in the ‘80s. Our ship repaired many nuclear powered submarines that pulled into the islands. This was on La Madallena, northern Sardinia. We had to wear dosimeters every time we worked on the subs because we were always exposed to some level of radiation. The locals on the islands were always concerned about our work there, rightly so…

You should do an investigation into the Italian UN peacekeepers that were in Kosovo and now dying of cancer from the depleted uranium dropped on Kosovo by the US. The reason for it is the poisonous substances held in barrels that was left behind, the contents were dumped in landfills and/or rivers and it went into the groundwater. The US servicemen sold the barrels to locals just before leaving for some extra cash.

What I left out is that they were not old. Cancer rates normally increase dramatically in older populations (70+), cancer in the 30s and 40s is not that common.

I was looking at some real estate sites at property and I was wondering why some really nice Sardinia property was bbn so cheap and now I know why. A couple properties on a map were surrounded by triangles but the map didn't have a legend to say what the yellow triangles represent... after more research I found this video. Crazy. Imagine if I spent a good chunk of my retirement on a property that would shorten my life.
It sad to think that Italy probably does not even use weopan containing these poisons. I wonder which country brought this poison to Sardinia? Everyone always jumps to the assumption that it's the USA but the US has places to test this kind of stuff. I wonder who? Because Italians saw (and partially do see today) Sardinians as less civilized people who couldn't do anything on their own. So taking their land to, allegedly, give them some work because otherwise, they wouldn't do anything of the land they own. It's colonialism at its finest. Sardinian history is not that different from that of natives in many lands. A small population in a small area conquered by a bigger power, and exploited because of their different culture, social organizations, language, and traditions.
I'm Sardinian and I can't stand the shame of having to force myself to learn our native language as an adult because your parents have been brainwashed into thinking they should only teach Italian to their kids, and schools give you a version of history that only glorifies Italian nationalism, putting in a positive light individuals that are the cause of most of our problems as Sardinians, and that treated us like animals.
Sardinians are some of the healthiest long living people in the world because of their diet. And now they are riddled with cancer..

Can I ask, is it still unsafe to live in sardinia now in 2022? I have chronic health condition and looking to move for better quality of life but obviously don't want to move here is I could be more ill.
Check Portugal out. There's lots of inexpensive, beautiful,villas,farms,and homes,for sale. The climate is great and the people are young,but very educated,and most speak English.
It isn't in general. This is extremely serious, but it's limited to some areas of the island.

torrace12 Yes I am in a group affected by such. Some claim Gulf war syndrome was from DU. Many Veterans have illnesses such as Thyroid cancer which can cause severe depression emotional problems. May explain more Veterans have committed suicide now than killed in action here in America. No one is admitting this .

It shows that when money is involved, nothing is "off-limits".. If Italy's government gets 1.5 million euros per day, it's highly unlikely they will buckle just because of locals..
It is bizarre to pick a place like Sardinia to test weapons and have military exercises, as there are hundreds of much more suitable places when taking into account all NATO members.. even US territories that are hardly populated and surounded by ocean would make more sense.. the only way Sardinia could limit military presence is by creating a national outcry..
But, to be honest, I'm only sad about locals who lived there for generations (and obviously environment).. but showing us rich folk and their 40 million $ villas doesn't help the case.. if anything rich losing money is music to many peoples ears..

These are false allegations, not true. A prosecutor on the Island even arrested scientists that found no contamination. The scientists were exonerated in 2014, and declared victims of an unjust prosecution. There were other studies done that came to the same conclusion. It's all very political, locals want the NATO off their island and are using false allegations to get them to close the base.
