Carriage Return and Life Feed are the non printable control characters. In a simple term, if you are typing and when we press 'Enter' key to go to next line, it puts CRLF (Carriage Return Line Feed) to instruct that there is a new line. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the great viodes. I would like to know why I keep getting True or False every time I return the line (press the return key to go to the next line)??? I have to delete it before I start typing my line. Thanks
Thanks for this video! Great job. Can you tell me why I'm not seeing the "right-click" context menu that you have? When I right-click over highlighted text, I don't see anywhere near the options you have (such as UPPERCASE, lowercase, hide lines, etc). I had installed the latest version (8.3.3), then uninstalled it and dropped down to v8.2.1 and still didn't see those options when I right-click over highlighted text. Do I need to install a plug-in maybe?
Hiker Guy, interesting. Never heard this. I suspect that your contextMenu.xml file may be messed up. Check out the contextMenu.xml file c:\program files otepad++ or c:\users\yourusername\appdata oaming otepad++ folder and check if there is a MenuEntryName for LowerCase and UpperCase. If not delete these files and reinstall Notepad++. Hope it helps.
@@AmitChristian You are spot-on. After posting in the Notepad++ forum, someone said to copy the file from the Notepad++ install folder to C:\Users\yourusename\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\ After doing that, I saw many more items when I right-clicked in Notepad++
I have ESC codes, i.e. ASCII 27, in my text. I want to send the document to the printer including the ESC codes but what actually prints is 'ESC' (white on black.) Is there a way to send the actual ESC code to the printer?
To increase the size of the menubar or toolbar, you can go to Settings > Preferences > General and Select Fluent UI Large in Toolbar section. This would give you a larger toolbar. If you still want it to be bigger, you will have to increase the DPI settings of your Windows. Let me know how it goes.
If you right click on your desktop and go to Display settings, you will find a dpi setting in there. Usually it is set to 100%, you can increase it to 125% or even 150% depending upon your screen resolution or display. One side effect of this is that it will increase the text of all the applications. Just google on how to change the dpi settings on windows. Thanks.
Hey mate! im back to ask for advice, i need to change lots of files i would like to know if you have a method to change all at once :) i have hundreds of these i would like to change them all to if possible please tell me :))
Sean, you should be able to do this using Regular expressions in Notepad++. Please check out regular expressions playlist on my channel. If I get a chance soon, I may create a short video about your question too.
At 12.45 mins into this tutorial, how did you quickly copy the highlighted text into a new file, it looks like you clicked on something, but I cannot tell.
i have a question. I use NP++. I do alot of copy and paste. problem is I need to scan NP for all entries for IE: UNid: 11, ... problem here is that my document may contain this insert line anywhere upto 100 times. I need to scan and replace all UNid: 11 with UNid: 59. Instead of single change , how can we do all at ONCE.??? please assist.
If I understand your question right, In Notepad++, there is an option to " *Replace All* ". If you go to *Search > Replace* , there is an option to search for keyword, say "UNid:11" and Replace With: UNid: 59. And click on "Replace All" button. That should replace all the entries. If not, please paste some sample text from your document here, and I can try to see, if we can replace all at once. Thanks.
Good job thank you. I use a customized setting with a black background and light green text. When I print on my laser jet printer the text is light gray and the font a bit small. Can you point me to how I can configure printing code (in various colours on my screen) to a non-colour laser printer with large, dark font. It is not necessary for the various scfreen text colours to be identifiable. Thank you. I just subscribed and look forward to your new content.
Astrophotography Q&A, yes, you can print the code in black and white color, simply go to Settings >> Preferences >> Select Print >> Color Options >> Pick the 'Black on White' option. For increasing the font size, you will need to set that up in Style Configurator. You can check out this video that helps you set the font size. (ruclips.net/video/gLl04m_ijQ8/видео.html ) BTW, you have given me a good idea to create a video tutorial about printing code in Notepad++. There are some really neat features that we can explore in print options. Thanks.
@@AmitChristian Thank you very much Amit. I used to program a lot in Visual Basic and C++. For the past few years I have been working on a flight simulator in my basement. This involves using software that nterfaces the flight simulator software and my cockpit hardware. The interface software uses LUA script, which is new to me, and uses Notepad++ as the scripting editor, which is also new to me. I have over 1000 lines of code in one project and it was driving me crazy jumping back and forth trying to find things. So I found some of the tips in your video really helpful, so much so that I am going to watch more of your tutorials. Notepad++ is very useful. Talented people such as yourself provide a great service to people like me in need of easy-to-understand, quality tutorials. Thank you so much.
Glad to know that you like the content, I have put together. Really appreciate your comments. BTW, are you into Astrophotography as your YT name says? Do you have some example videos/pictures?
@@AmitChristian Yes indeed - Astrophotography is a challenging but very rewarding hobby. I am currently rennovating my sites so there are no photos on it currently. You might like to subscrbe to the channel and you can direct message me there. Cheers
What kind of code alignment in XML are you looking for? Notepad++ has the following code alignment plugin. ( ruclips.net/video/DCstEKSWi80/видео.html ) Does this help?
We can't change the text in .docx files, can't we? My expierence says that't the way it is but maybe I don't know sth. The thing is those are .docx. My firts assosiation with a word "text" (in computers context) is "MS word" .
Plain text file are the simplest form of text. There may be people out there who do not want to pay for Office Suite or want to get locked in the proprietary file format. Also, for coding and programming, all people use text editors. And Notepad++ is one of the most popular, free and open source text editor out there.
