I really enjoy all of your videos. They have historical facts backing them up. Great job in the research and presentation of your videos. Be safe out there and God bless!🇺🇸
You are best! Your perspectives on everything are right on. Love your series on the French Indian War (and everything else for that matter) is so fantastic. Don't let anyone inhibit your narrative.
Your series on the French and Indian War is excellent. I have read many books on this time period, which include all the gruesome facts. You are teaching history without the unnecessary details. Your visits to locations have been a great help. I always have my satellite map following where you are, as I am collecting the location coordinates where all these forts once stood. As far as taking sides, you teach history using facts, the way it happened. This is how history needs to be passed on. Thank you Cliff.
I always look forward to the next chapter of this series, its so interesting. I do realize that it would take many hours of going into great detail regarding the massacres and the different families that were killed also. I find that when I want to know more of the story, I do lots of research online and you get lots of information regarding the history. Thanks Cliff, you are doing a very good job of telling a general history of the French & Indian War.
I’m watching some of these videos with my son, so thank you for your PG rating. I appreciate that you just share the facts of history, and let it up to the viewer to research further and form their own opinion.
Wow ..... This is Great ! I love how U shifted gears from " The Ole Staredown " from the neighbors to " Story Time " with Uncle Cliff ! & nice background music , too ! U didn't miss a beat ! 😊
I hear faint Piano music starting at the beginning of the video up until the 15:20 mark, Cliff. Was that coming from the vehicles stereo ? It was very soothing and relaxing. I liked it. Good post again as well 👍 PS: Those stories surrounding the Schaumboch's Tavern are very twisted and disturbing, yet eerily intriguing to say the least. It brings to mind that horror movie from 1980 called Motel Hell for me.
If I ever feel “pent” up at home in the midst of winter and the “you know what”, I watch your videos on the French and Indian War. Love the history and scenery.
I'm glad I found this series. Its been helping get me through Covid. Do you ever worry about one of these dirt roads accidentally being someone's drive way?
Hi Cliff, thank you so very much for this channel, I thoroughly enjoy each video that you take the time to put together to share, I love history, and nature, I feel that you do a very great job, I'm certain that most of your subscribers understand what happened during the French and Indian War, I don't feel that it be necessary for you to go into the horrific tragedies that happened on either side, it is horrible all together what took place, I live in Al my mother has Indian heritage on both sides French on one side, I think that you understand what I'm trying to explain, anyway I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for your work, I enjoy every video just the beauty of Pennsylvania is so amazing for some reason I always pictured it differently, again just thank you
Thanks for sharing, Cliff. Your video was interesting and well-done as always. In my opinion, you have just the right mix of information. Some people are hard to please and quick to grumble. Ignore them and keep up your good work.
Great series Cliff! The shelter at Hawk Mountain is one of the perks of higher membership. At the Broadwing level, you and four guests can stay in the shelter overnight!
Really like this format of driving and talking. It’s like we’re along for the ride more than ever. I used to drive those roads in my college days, and I love seeing familiar sights. Great video!
Schaumbacher's tavern was at one time, the residences of Muaricey Braun and his wife Irma. They started Hawk Mountain. I appreciate your wholesome videos. Some people just have to pick sides/viewpoints/opinions. It is history; it happened. Can't change that. Thanks for helping to keep history alive!!!!!
Hey Cliff, still catching up on some older videos. Some a few months old others a few years, "always" fascinating history. Thanks so much. As to the few haters, I never figured them out. On the TV/radio there are knobs for on/off volume and changing the station. My advice to them--shut up and shut it off or change the station.
Cliff this was another amazing adventure!! Your videos are always such fun & always an interesting learning experience. I appreciate your PG approach in your videos. We do know there were awful sad things & you make it easier to hear. Great piano music! Thanks for all you teach & do for us. Take good care.🥰😘
Hi Cliff, I have really enjoyed this series, lots on information and you actually visit the area's too which really helps to keep everything in perspective. An awesome video, thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
That was so cool thanks!!😊🤗I love those back roads and all the history in PA!! You’re a great teacher/storyteller 🤗😊☺️💕Looking forward to the next one!
This is such a fantastic series I’m enjoying it so much. What a scary time that would have been. Thank you so much for taking me along. Please stay safe and take care
They built a replica of Fort Everett (or at least as close as they could get with information on hand). It is located at Ontelaunee Park in New Tripoli.
I love the old houses, as well. Folks can say what they want, about repairs, but those people knew how to build good homes. Mine is built like a bunker.
I think your videos are a great learning experience for all. Thank you so much. When you were in Lynnport you were about 2 miles from Leaser lake. It is right at the base of the mountain and it is a public park. Very scenic and a great place for your Kayak. No motorboats allowed. I think you would like it. I enjoyed your journey. Be well.
I think you are doing a great job with the history of the French and Indian War. I am looking forward the the Gnadenhutten video. I had ancestors involved in that one. I always loved PA History.
thanks for nice story and one more question...place where killed gerhardt familly is same spot where is tavern today or somewhere around..thanks and greetings from croatia
I have enjoyed this series very much. I have been through some of that area and did not realize about the Forts. Been pass the tavern several times. You should list the GPS coordinates to make it easier to find. Well thanks and keep up the good work.
I literally just finished watching the movie "Last of the Mohicans". Nice timing. 👍🏻 I find it fascinating that they put a window where the chimney is on the tavern. Your doing a fine job keeping your videos family friendly, keep up the good work.👍🏻
Great job I live in a part of new England that was the front lines in the french and indian war or the 7 years war in europe and lasted 9 years in the usa . I live in the part of massachusetts where there were massacre at fort Massachusetts USA and deerfield Massachusetts is just the other side of the mountain .
Surprised people have a problem with your presentation. Do you have any idea of the size of the garrisons--were these a combination of British regulars and militia? Great series--looking forward to the next installment
The French and Indian War is such a fascinating time in our nation's history, and we don't know nearly enough about it. I had relatives who likely served with George Washington, but can't find any records from that time period. Loved the video.
The French Indian war content is extremely interesting and I don't get the feeling you are taking sides. In fact I can see that you are totally avoiding taking sides. I believe everyone can't assume what happened to the settlers from your stories without the gore. Thanks. I live close to Fort Ligonier and Fort Necessity.
I'm not sure you can present history without your opinion weighing in but I very much enjoy your travelscapes. My focus has been on the Indian wars in New England and they track with your PA stories. Just a brutal period.
If someone wants the rest of the story tell em, to watch the movie " Jeramia Jhonson" great movie. I find no trouble believing that they DO have an Indian buried in their yard somewhere. May they rest in peace.
Just to be picky, but I sure do LOVE history. Fort Everett is located about 300 feet north from the historical marker and that would put it around the cell phone tower behind the white garage and behind the parking lot that you parked at behind the municipal building according to google earth. You were close in guessing to location. Will be waiting patiently for the next video. Cheers from far Southeast Wisconsin.
I enjoy your videos and I never felt you stepped out of line on any subject. Please don't get all homogenized on us because you have some complainers! Keep your humor and tell us the facts! I know you won't withhold facts or water down important facts concerning the subjects you talk to us about and I appreciate it! Thank you, Cliff!
When you deal with the public you always get people who agitate for attention or they are not happy being who they are. Don't have to justify yourself for their cause. They can watch something else.
Hello from Ohio I don't like going into full details about Indian or who Evers massacres either because my grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian to
In a letter written by Valentine Probst to Jacob Levan, of Maxatawney, dated February 15, 1756, he gives the following account of another murder: Mr. Levan: I cannot omit writing about the dreadful circumstances of our township, Albany [see this under Fort Henry also]. The Indians came yesterday morning, about eight o'clock, to Frederick Reichelderfer's house, as he was feeding his horses, and two of the Indians ran upon him, and followed him into a field ten or twelve perches off; but he escaped and ran toward Jacob Gerhart's house, with a design to fetch some arms. When he came near Gerhart's, he heard a lamentable cry, 'Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus!' which made him run back towards his own house; but before he got quite home, he saw his house and stable in flames; and heard all the cattle bellowing, and thereupon ran away again. Two of his children were shot, one of them was found dead in his field, the other was found alive, and brought to Hakenbrook's house, but died three hours after. All his grain and cattle are burnt up. At Jacob Gerhart's they have killed one man, two women, and six children. Two children slipped under the bed; one of which was burned; the other escaped, and ran a mile to get to the people. We desire help, or we must leave our homes. Yours, VALENTINE PROBST.
