Thanks for watching! I'm now aware that the RX 6400 exists, however it wouldn't make sense to pay so much for such a card. Also big thanks to Nordpass for making this possible 👍 nordpass.com/psivewrinordpass Or, use the code PSIVEWRINORDPASS at checkout to get an additional 1 month for FREE!
Do a video on the asus M32 CD I7 skylake 6700 you are impressive amen.
What is the difference between normal GPU and low profile GPU
@@TahelEdit low profile GPU is basically half the height of normal sized GPU. It's the only form factor you can fit into these SFF (small form factor) desktops. These PCs are usually only 10cm thick (that's about 4 inches for the US people), so you are limited TFX power supplies, low profile GPUs, low profile CPU coolers.
the rx 6400 is fantastic... I enjoy mine... but I understand you're sorta referring to proportional cost...I think...BUT if this is your ONLY pc it would be well worth it...
I had a pc similar to this, loved it so much, type c port was useful for charging my phone and data transfer, I would go to a holiday and would put it into a small bag and I was set up. Really convenient to have with a low-profile card and a an i7 that is kind of portable.
They make smaller more powerful pcs... the selling point was mostly the price.

@@capratureI'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, I'm saying its value is the best part
I would love to see this machine running a single slot RX 6400 and compare it to the GT 730's performance!
Didn't know they existed! But since they cost nearly double what I paid for this PC... Maybe not 😂
@@psivewri 😅 Yeah that's fair!
So I run a low profile 6400 in a Dell SFF with an i7-8700 and 32GB RAM and it isn't awful, but not great either. The main problem with the 6400 is the 64 bit memory bus and PCIe Gen4. You leave a decent chunk of performance on the table by running on a Gen3 system (like the HP in this video or my Dell).
I’m running this setup with a 6400 in runs fine plays all e sports games 60+ fps 4k video is great also.. that’s main use
As an alternative to the 6400, Yeston makes a single-slot low profile GTX 1650. You used to only be able to get them in China, but now they’ve started selling them on Newegg
We have these at my job, and it's interesting to see an overview of a machine I use every day and don't think twice about.
There is low profile single slot versions of the RX 6400. Even though it's PCIe 4.0 x4 (in that system limited to PCIe 3.0 x4) it will still outperform a GT 1030 by a huge margin
He replied to a similar comment saying it’s too expensive
a low profile 1050ti is ideal for this thing
@@XxmatixX6videosdiariosdenadav Low profile 1050 Ti wouldn't fit because they take 2 slots
1030 gt is the sweet spot for budget and performance, also you don't want to stress the power supply as reliable as they are don't push them to their limits.
@@buda3d2007 GT 1030 is extremely slow by todays standards but sadly there isn't any other new low profile cards for below 100€.
The RX 6400 wouldn't be a problem for the power supply, it's only a 53W TDP card
I have a feeling that the iGPU on the i5-7500 would beat the GT 730, even if it's the GDDR5 version of the 730. Would be interesting to see a followup video trying it out (or just a comment in here if messing around with alternate configurations wouldn't be enough for a video).
was going to say the same thing
Sadly no maybe in newer games where the newer feature set comes into play
Mind you I haven't finished the vid yet and this could be a really shitty gt 730 not necessarily about the memory more so the architecture the card is based on But of course the memory matters too but not as much as you'd think if the card itself is bad 🤣
A Kepler gt 730 is a decent bit faster than the Fermi counterparts
Pretty impressive given how 'compact' it is and for only $152 bucks, good value! Even at 5-6yrs old. Great find!
That really isn't too bad at all, I swear that my workplace has a load of this as lectern PCs.
What surprised me most is the pre-installed Samsung SSD (That part number correlates to a Samsung drive), dual channel memory (HP love using single channel memory in their pre-builts), and, most importantly, the M.2 SSD and Wi-Fi slots.
I would definitely add Wi-Fi and an NVME boot drive, as well as more RAM - IMO, you can never have too much of RAM! :)
An RX6400 and a cheap 500GB m.2 would make this a good little budget powerhouse for someone that wants a compact little machine ❤
Would be a great media pc that can play your games if you didn’t want to stream it from your main rig.
It's a shame those cards are pretty expensive!
I think 1030 would be more reasonable @Psivewri
@psivewri Maybe try looking for single slot 4GB RX 550 or 560s?
Amazing video! Keep up the great work!
I love hearing about "old tech" while I still use machines with 4th-gen Xeons (Lenovo: E3-1265L v3 and Asus: E3-1285L v3). I remember upgrading a 2nd gen Lenovo SFF with an E3-1260L, 16gb DDR3 1333 and a Yeston RX550 (the best SFF GPU at the time) and gave it to my brother. He still tells me how awesome it is. Your channel inspired me to get into "flippings".

I took an ssd from a retired school computer, (i5 2400) and it's full of bloatware I remember using a school computer with the 2400 it's slow but my personal 2400 pc that I use for laser engraving runs great clearly it's the bloatware that makes them slow, and combined with the "upgrade" to cheap celeron laptops it makes school computers so slow that I don't use them, I bring my personal laptop to school
The new one cost like 1000 and they are not bad

Nice keychron! I got an alice 80 a couple days ago ironically enough. Very similar layout + a volume knob as well.
I have a similar system, they can be fun for retro games and it can handle daily tasks just fine. The i7's from 6th-7th gen do have hyperthreading which helps with modern games, and 8th gen i5 has 6 cores, so worth looking for those if possible but they always list for much more than the i5 6500 or 7500 models which seem to be the most common. The 4 threads can be limiting factor though especially with more modern titles.
Sweet, another Psivewri upload🔥
I recently got a dell Inspiron 660s for $35 online. With a i7 3770, GT 1030 and 16gb RAM, it’s a great PC. I also added a PCI WiFi card. Very similar to this one, just a bit older. It’s completely upgraded to the max and the 225 watt power supply could do it surprisingly.
Great video!
I saw that unit all over Ebay when I was browsing the HP units. Interesting that one had 4 ram slots when some I was leaning towards had 2 ram slots. Yep I also have a GT 1030 that I salvaged from a unit and tempted to give that one a try with it.
Not bad! I’d love to see a Thinkcentre on the channel. I got mine for little over $400 a long while ago on eBay and it still had warranty and everything with an AMD processor. Was such a good deal and since then I still use it as a main computer at home for work and upgraded the RAM and SSD respectively.
The RX 6400 is a low-profile GPU and has single slot versions of it, so for this pc the 6400 can be a great upgrade.
The RX 6400 is a PCIe 4.0 card though, so I suppose a GTX 1650 would still be more optimal. It depends on people's preferences though.
@@pgta2004 still working with pcle 3.0
@@doctorsexo5847 Ikr, but then it'd be PCIe 3.0 x4, so the bandwidth'd be halved. Wonder if that will be a bottleneck though

Love your video's Keep Em up
My entire school is equipped with the mini version of these PCs mounted to the back of chunky HP monitors, it was pain trying to edit video and complex animations on them since they only had integrated graphics.
I have a Dell Optiplex that's the same size as this at work. When there's no work to be done and it's a slow day i use it to play games. Mine does not have dedicated graphics and i don't have a small profile card to put in it either, but it still works ok with the iGPU.
I just realized that this is the computer my school uses in every class where there isn't a laptop
My school had these with 6th gen i5 but changed them to Dell AIO's during christmas break. I used to play my summer car on them. Got 25-40 fps on low settings :D.
This is the same computer that is used in the computer labs of my high school, the ones at my school are upgraded and have really nice gpus.
Those HPs are great machines. We use them at work and never was disappointed with even the G2 one I still use at my desk.
My university have this ProDesks on the Labs, I was surprised to seed this computer here.
This would be great for retro gaming as well!
Am RX6400 is probably the best card you could fit in there. Actually, I'd love to see how it would perform in this situation.
I've put in a rx 6400 in a dell sff and it's fantastic, it has some issues depending on the pcie lanes, but it is otherwise fantastic and a dream for sff upgraders
Those old computers still have life in them. I recently picked up a refurbished Dell OptiPlex 7010 off of eBay with 16GB RAM and a 240GB SSD for about what you paid for your HP, and the seller did a very good job of cleaning and packing it.
I love these OEM machines. I have a Mini Form Factor (no, not SFF) HP Prodesk with an i5-8600T. I added a GTX 1650 using a PCIE x16 to M.2 adapter. Using an external power supply (a Dell DA-2 adapter), I can now use the computer for triple A gaming.
Added 16GB of RAM and a 500 GB SATA SSD aswell. All of that for just 250 dollars!
I have this exact same machine as a main PC, what a tank, speaking of the video card you have also the RX550 LP variant if you want more gaming speed on this thing, mine has a 6th gen Core i5 and 4x4gigs of RAM for a total of 16, 256 gigs M.2 (NVMe) and a 1T mechanical drive with sadly a DDR4 variant of the 1030 which is going to be replaced with the firstly mentioned card
There's actually several variants of the GT 730. The GDDR5 one is decent for what its worth; any DDR3 variant is basically not worth bothering other than as an emergency display adapter for troubleshooting.
2:34 the gestures :D
What keyboard is that? It's truly goofy and I love it.
Do you have step by step comprehensive tutorial , I think we all need that
Early! Love the vids Nathan keep it up!
Buy a cheap case, cheap(ish) power supply, transplant the internals and you can put wtv GPU you want in there. It's what I did when i first moved back to France, bought a cheap HP prebuilt. Now i have a 5800x3d and 7900 XT on a custom loop :).
I gave had one of these hp units myself cannot complain personally
5:41 actually, there was a single slot 1070 by Galax/KFA2, I don't know if it would fit length-wise without any modding, but that + a new PSU would definetly make this into a decent 1080p machine
thats actually really good value!
I admit that todays games even with low setting are great graphically. GTA V and Skyrim still look awesome
Wow, that's what my school has! I remember playing GTA V off a usb 2.0 lol
I worked fixing and refurbishing computers and other tech for an small company in my city, and I worked around with lots of hp´s small form factor computers, and yes I changed the thermal paste in all of the computers I fixed/refurbished, it was a crappy thermal compound but at least its better than nothing
This is a great video, you should do a video on a Dell Optiplex computer to see if you can game on that.
An rx6400 would go a long in making that system playable, I know it’s controversial but the gtx 1650 will suck more power and the rx 6400 is on par with the performance of the gtx 1650 and sometimes beating the 1650
Would love to see a rx6400 tested in that system
Of course this shows up right after I buy a $270 (USD) laptop
honestly, I'm impressed with my laptop's power, considering it's just an Intel Core I3, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, and Intel integrated graphics, running Minecraft at 1080p60Hz
Can this laptop be forced to install Windows XP?
You may be able to fit on of Nvidia's workstation series GPU's in this case. There are low power models like the P1000 which are often found in ThinkStation Tiny machines that offer performance equivalent or superiour to a 1050Ti.
after some research on the specs, it seelms like it can fit a low-profile PCIe 3 x16 card with a max TDP of 35W. The P1000 draws 47 watts, which might work.. but not sure. Its lower-spec version, the P400 draws only 30 watts and fits this case. So that's basically as far as you can get unless you upgrade the PSU. A PCIe slot can provide up to 75 watts of power - enough for an A2000, which is an entreprise series Ampere card with RT cores.
Overall, decent upgradeability, if only its pcie slot was placed a little higher to give space for 2u cards...
I had one of them, wished I'd have kept it now.
Heyy I didn’t expect to see nice PC to grab. I wonder if there’s better small PC out there.
Where do you normally look for old business tech? years back I would look at the auctions on graysonline, but I'm curious whether there are any new sites?
Most of the HP Elitedesk PCs can handle a Geforce 1650 with the default PSU, even the old HP 8200 SFF and 8300 SFF series is compatible. In case of SFF, a low-profile version is required.
I have the same PCs at my school, but in MT chassis
I have the exact same Pc. Still gets bios updates believe it or not. Mine has a 250GB NVME which reports 4GB/s. 32GB of Ram, 2GB GT 730 graphics card and a i7 7700 CPU. It’s not the best for gaming but a speed demon when it comes to we-browsing and videos.
I use a similiar HP ProDesk 400 G5 SFF as an HTPC with 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB SSD, i3-8100, GT 1030 and a PCI-E Wi-Fi card. Love it so much!
1:22 Ad on a 7:32 Video. That's a paddlin'
I have a 2gb ddr5 gt 730 low profile and I managed to get csgo at 75 fps at max settings native resolution. The ddr3 vs gddr5 models have a ~22 fps difference
My favorite phenomena in the PC world is how businesses and organizations will discard perfectly viable IT gear when they refresh their equipment. If you are at the right place at the right time, you can get all kinds of previous gen hardware absolutely free. Just last weekend I picked up an HP Z440 workstation for free. With an X99 motherboard and 700W PSU, it's a perfect platform to build a gaming rig on. All I needed was a $10 dual 6 pin to 8-pin adapter to run more modern graphics cards, and I replaced the non-turbo non-hyperthread 2.8ghz quad xeon with a 6-core turbo hyperthreaded 3.4ghz xeon which can be had for $13.50 on ebay. For $25 I have a proper gaming rig (already had a 1070 Ti and PCIe SSD to throw in it from an older build). Main thing is you have to be patient because they discard things on THEIR schedule and you also have to be savvy enough to know when and where to be when they start discarding gear in order to scoop stuff up. Often all you have to do is ask (Closed mouths don't get fed). I have acquired numerous servers and pro grade workstations like this over the years.
We have these computers at our school
My school used to have hp prodesks from 2016
I got a HP EliteDesk 800 G3 for $160. MINT condition. i5 7500 cpu, 8Gb 2400 RAM, 1Tb HDD. Added SSD and Windows 11 and a spare NVME M.2 in one of the PCIE slots. VERY quite. Assembled in OZ in May 2018 so is 5 years old THIS month. 11 installed as Windows Educational so must have been built for a school. Play WOT without graphics card. For the $160 I had to forgoe 8 Pizza! WORTH IT! Only problem is I cannot update BIOS - password locked..
I found a computer outside in a junk e-waste bin with the exact same specifications!
Aaah, office desktops. Always a surprise
hey i got the ryzen pro version of this pc for my office and it rocks
I’m jealous of your eucalyptus spray, I can’t seem to find anything of the sort here in the states 😂
6:58 if I had that refurbed HP ProDesk 400 G5 SFF (which has support for Windows 11 than the 600 G3), I could bring the PC, the keyboard, the mouse, and my pocket router, the PSU, an inverter with a slim motorbike battery (packed on a bag) to school unless it's time for learning, studying, and doing exams, especially my not-so-nice English teacher.
I find this very interesting can u try and upgrade the graphics card and the ram slightly to see performance
The HP Prodesk 600 G3 shows two ports at the rear so surly it should be able to take a low profile gtx 1050Ti or 1650?
Used Quadro P1000, similar to 1050ti, would be a bargin. the newer T1000 has more umpf but that gets rather costly.
You should try having a look at a Panasonic CF-C1. Or something similar. ❤
I got an Optiplex 7050 with that exact same cpu, 8gb of ram, and an r5 430 gpu and I got some upgrades for it to make a Home Theatre PC: i7-7700, RX 6400, more ram, 6tb hdd, 1tb nvme ssd
I was looking at one of these a few years ago
i have a dell optiplex 9020 sff and i had a few options like 1050, 1650, RX6400 low profiles, and any of the 700 series, but i chosed RX 550 lowprofile which is a beast for 4gb card like 60 at meduim low settings and other games like fortnite at 1080p 60fps
I was waiting for the upgrade and some cleaning 🥺my bad
This disrespect using the taser, love it 😂
the intergrated HD630 is at same level as GT730 , also HD630 can support 4K@60hz
Would love to see this machine upgraded with an i7 7700 and a Powercolor RX 6400 Low Profile. Maybe throw in 32GB of RAM and a 1TB NVME for good measure because why not? No reason, I just like watching people do overkill upgrades on these kinds of machines.
Would an external gpu help the pc to perform better?
i have a thinkcentre 710e extremely similar to the hp, i was even going to get an ex office hp before i seen the lenovo and it was much cheaper! paid £ 60 for pc £ 10 for express delivery, £ 50 for 250gb nvme and £ 25 for another 8gb of ram to boost it to 16gb! no graphics card but i dont use it for gameing anyway, great little untis parts galore on ebay. only got an i3 7100 in it but can upgrade to a varity of others includeing the i5 7500 seen in this video. find the right seller and ex office are the way to go for budget machines
even my desktop that i got for 2 broken phones has twice the vram
If anything, that box would make for a better server. I know many people who usually buy even smaller mini PC's (still have a decent CPU, but no PCIe slots for a graphics card), to use as a dedicated game server.
i have a similar computer that i use as a budget daily driver. it is a dell optiplex 790 sff i got for $40
my college uses those exact computers
I just bought this one with 8gb ram and 256 ssd. It's good and I was able to upgrade it to windows 11. Someday I'll upgrade the ram to 16gb
Aren't 7th gen cpus unsupported?
What is the HP motherboard name? It looks like the first revision of the one in my store bought hp gaming pc it’s only pci 3 8x
You could probably fit a K620 quadro 2gb graphics card in that slot. It's about the same size and requires no external power to run.
Good DAW PC for Reaper!
We have similar machines without the USB-C port in our big computer lab in our high school. But they also might be a little bit newer(I think we got them in 2016 after we had lots of Lenovo ThinkPads) but most of them are in really bad shape😂 there‘s not a single unit with the Intel sticker still on ist and 80% of the optical drives don‘t work anymore and 7 of 30 units don‘t work at all😬😂
Oh, I actually use a similar computer at work.
Hello bro you should totally check out the HP Elitedesk 805 g6 with the Ryzen 7 4750g with 8c and 16t.
Well that's coincidental! This is the model of desktop that my school uses!
Recently got an hp pro small form factor pc 3rd gen i3 4gbs of ram for 20$ i love that thing
A radeon hd 7000 series is a good buy for a such system
I hate that the Intel Arc Pro A40 is hard to find because this graphics card fits sooooo nice into SFF PCs and pack a lot of power.
I have a Dell Optiplex 760. It's a real nice desktop.
thinking of 2017 as back then...
It’s kinda insane for my school to have computers with intel i7 11700k and 16Gb of ram and 1440p monitors, that’s basically my computer but with no graphics card. I didn’t even know my school just switched out the old computers with the new ones.
what is your school running? high power software? no way they spend more then 888 on each computer just to only run word my school has 2 pc rooms a room on 1st floor with i5 7th gen and the 2nd floor has i5 4th gens wich are slow ass but that i5 is more powerfull then my i5 6th gen
@@309electronics5 What I can say is, I don't know how they have so much money to spend on computers, even though the stuff still works and not obsolete. I think the old computers that used to be there had i7 8700K and 16GB of ram. Those computers were mostly in classroom for developing electronics. The 2 things I hate about it is they don't have any kind of ssd or any kind of graphics besides the intel graphics. I guess it's fine for basic web surfing and office apps, but for anything else, it's basically useless.
