Do the special crew dice get placed back on the supply/board after each round or do you keep them the whole game in your cup until someone takes it from you (or you exchange it for 2 crew dice before the final battle)?
Hi there I also received the game before Christmas! First at all I have to admit that this game ranks so damn high in terms of quality of the material, it was a pleasure to unbox!! I also played like 10 rounds with my brother and parents but we still got some questions - not sure if I missed the part in the rulebook or if it got lost in translation to German 😅 1.) what happens if a player moves tiles forward/backward in the action phase - some cards say explicit don’t activate the tile/event - so does it mean if that part is missing and somebody gets moved in action phase they trigger the event ? 2.) what if somebody uses a action card in sailing phase and it comes to a final battle? Can he still play a gold card which indicates it can be used in a final battle? Or is it still 1 gold and 1 silver per round or is that negated as it comes to the final battle and play as many as you can/want? 3.) if a player is „punished“ that he can’t bet in the next round - will he still roll the dice and do they count for the betting players or not? 4.) there is the captain which has the special ability that he/she (forgot the name) can trade when a player is on the same tile - I couldn’t find any explanations for it beside the trade action card for 1 coin choose 1 option (1- take a crew / 2- take a action card / 3 swap positions when the other captain is on an adjective tile) Is it the same without 3 - so pay 1 coin to take a crew or action card? 5.) what counts as an attack? There is the one action card (mirror something) that says, if you are attacked it gets mirrored back to the attacker So if I play a duel card and he plays the mirror card - the solution here would be that „he played the duel card against me“ correct? But what about the cannon card ? Can he counter that and the whole card is countered or is it just one shot ? Thanks in advance, so far we enjoy the game a lot even though we just played with the „first play suggested tiles“ 😊
Hi Esco! Very happy to hear that you enjoy the game :) I'll try my best to answer your questions here: 1. You can only move tiles which no players are standing on. Events are only triggered by 1 player once per round, which happens in the sail phase. 2. All Gold cards you have left for the Final Battle can be used during the Final Battle. 3. If a player misses the next betting phase then that player's dice are not counted. As a reminder we usually put the dice from that player on top of a flipped bamboo cup. 4. You must pay the player you want to trade with 1 coin for each action you want to perform. 1 trade/round. 5. Maidens Mirror card can only be used when you alone are attacked. So if the player who plays a "Fire your Cannons" card only attacks 1 person, then yes, you can reverse the attack. I hope that makes more sense for you now :D Happy playing. Cheers,
@@nordicpirategames thank you for the reply! Makes everything clearer now. 😊 I probably described the first one wrong. I really meant the action phase. We do have multiple silver cards like: „waves of the kraken“ (hopefully the correct English name since I got the German version) that says: move 1 captain 2 tiles backwards without activating it. But then we have also „blackbeards maneuver“ : all captains last placed move 1 tile forward and all leading captains move 1 tile backwards. That’s it, that is what confused us because some cards don’t say that tile/event is not activated.
OK so a few questions: 1. Does every player start each round with a certain number of cards (Pick up cards at each round change) or is it more Whatever you have at the end of the round, is what you have? 2. Captain coasters seem to have a type of special move on them, some of them are obvious but others say things like "Maximum 11 dice, minimum 3" first off, what does that mean? Second can these moves be made at any time or is it dependent on a specific action or event? 3. What does the Buy Steps tile on the Dice Board do, more specifically how does it work? 4. What does a blank face on a special dice mean? is that 0 or wild? 5. One of the Bamboo cups I got is smaller and thinner than the others, is this a mistake or is there some type of meaning behind it? I am yet to have a proper play test but I might be back with some more questions once that happens.
Hi. Thanks for your questions. I think you need to read the rulebook again. 1. Does every player start each round with a certain number of cards (Pick up cards at each round change) or is it more Whatever you have at the end of the round, is what you have? Start with 6 cards then you can purchase extra cards 2. Captain coasters seem to have a type of special move on them, some of them are obvious but others say things like "Maximum 11 dice, minimum 3" first off, what does that mean? Second can these moves be made at any time or is it dependent on a specific action or event? Normally you may always have maximum 10 dice. Now you may have 11 at maximum. And may never go below 3. 3. What does the Buy Steps tile on the Dice Board do, more specifically how does it work? Read the rulebook. 4. What does a blank face on a special dice mean? is that 0 or wild? It's blank. Means nothing, no number. 5. One of the Bamboo cups I got is smaller and thinner than the others, is this a mistake or is there some type of meaning behind it? All bamboo cups have different sizes. Hello, what happens if you lose a bet round? In the rulebook it says you can't sail this round or bet the next round and dont sail that round. But in your playthrough everyone bets every round, how come?
Hi Jakob, It sounds like you are mixing up losing a round and having to miss the next betting phase. If you simply lose, you will participate next round. You can't sail this round, but you can participate in the next betting phase. But if you have lost a "locked bet" (exact guess) then you must miss next betting phase, Does it make it more clear? Cheers,
Listening a couple times extra, I think he actually says "this is a legal move" but the "move" is spoken very silently and gets covered up by the music, which honestly is too loud
The last player can pay 1 crew member each (for each tile he moves forward) to catch up with the next player to him If there are 2+ last players they need to communicate if they want to do it or not and how many tiles
Hi, this video contains an explanation from 03:34 and a whole round as an example starting at 04:40, if you find this part confusing can you give an example about what exactly is unclear, and please use time-marks if you can. We also have an older playthrough video with a whole round of the entire game which might be helpful: ruclips.net/video/oxdw7F0sXu0/видео.html&
Try playing or reading the rules of "Liar's Dice" also known as "Perudo" the entire betting phase is based on the mechanics of these games. This way the concept will certainly be clearer to you! 🏴☠️
I received it yesterday. Thank you for the accurate shipping. Best game for Christmas :D
It has arrived!I 'm so excited to get sailing!
Do the special crew dice get placed back on the supply/board after each round or do you keep them the whole game in your cup until someone takes it from you (or you exchange it for 2 crew dice before the final battle)?
You keep them until another player takes it from you, OR, as you say, you trade them in for 2 normal crew dice before Final Battle :)
Happy playing!

But if you have lost a "locked bet" (exact guess) then you must miss next betting phase,
Does it make it more clear?
Cheers,
6:00 you said that raising the bet of 3 x Fives to 3 x Sixes is a valid bet. But then you said "This is illegal"
Is that correct?
I think he just misspoke. It should be "this is legal" since he states that you can either increase the number of dice OR the face value OR both
Listening a couple times extra, I think he actually says "this is a legal move" but the "move" is spoken very silently and gets covered up by the music, which honestly is too loud
What does the "Buy Steps" box on the dice board after the Action Phase mean?
The last player can pay 1 crew member each (for each tile he moves forward) to catch up with the next player to him
If there are 2+ last players they need to communicate if they want to do it or not and how many tiles
Where would be the best place to make requests for clarification, BGG forum?
If its about the content in the video, you can ask that here! Otherwise BGG forum might be a better place!
❤💯
Who does the voice over?
The betting phase is extremely unclear and we never even got started because we never got past it. Please post an in-depth tutorial
