As a guy from philly who loved Blur, I remember going to England and everyone in the pub was singing this song. Such a great song, great memories!

I'm in Canada. I remember this one getting played quite bit. The guy in the video, Phil Daniels was the actor who played Jimmy in the Who's 1977 movie Quadrophenia.

I was a Blur fan.. Also an Elastica, Pulp, Menswear, and CAST fan. And also a fan of the greatest group to come out of the U.K. in the 90's. Supergrass. We were listening to Brit Pop back in the mid 90's in Southern California. Lucky enough to have a few independent records shops that imported Brit Pop.

I have never seen that video before, it's amazing!
The Kinks and Blur, two of my favorite bands, are well-known for not really making it big in the U.S. like they should. If I had to guess why, I would imagine they are too British for a lot of Americans, both in sound and culture.
To many Americans, the only thing reference they have to Blur is "Song 2."

That's so funny. I'm from the US and my first concert was the KINKs. Once I got turned on to Blur I went up to NY city to see them in a small venue. They introduced a song, may have been "Far out", and thanked David Bowie for his inspiration, Damon making a gesture in my direction. I turned around and there was Bowie right behind me in the crowd. Pretty cool moment.

To me the second most recognizable song after ''Song 2'' would be ''Country House''. I love that music video.
Also listened to ''Coffee and TV'' and ''Boys and Girls'' multiple times.
Also Jon, can you explain meaning of Parklife if you know it. I know its some commentary of British specific lifestyle and i'm interested to hear more.

Supposedly this song came about from Damon Albarn basically spending time in the park and people (and pigeon) watching ... how true this is who really knows? ... but I do remember as a teenager hanging around the park a few times and people watching so I can relate to the list of joggers and pigeons and people driving by in their mobile discos ...

Thank you for answering, you are awesome. This interaction with content creator means a lot.
So this is about how parks are full of life and there is always some event or interaction just going through park?

@@matijamaksan4344 As far as I'm aware yes it's about the ongoing 'life' of people (and pigeons) that are found in parks

"park" backwards is "krap" ... so the song is about the average person, living their "crap" lives.

Interesting story: There was a brief dispute between Damon Albarn and Taylor Swift recently.
Apparently Damon Albarn said that Taylor Swift didn't write her own music, something in which Taylor Swift lashed back on social media.
He did apologize and admitted he was wrong...I am just not sure where he came to the conclusion that she didn't.
    It's a very unusual dispute.
