I like the way you did the top. I will have to try it on my next bag. I made draw string bags for my grandkid to use on our vacation. I used yardage and folded it so I didn’t have to sew the bottom and did French seams on the sides. I also used grommets on the bottom to put the strings through.
I used your idea of 1/2 yard instead of 2 fat quarters and it works perfectly and faster too. My local fabric store sells rolls of 1/2 yard materials so I have lots to choose from.😁
This is a wonderful technique. I made a lined drawstring bag that has lasted about three years (the top casing is fraying). I am going to take it apart, cut it down, and use your technique to remake two bags. Win!
Thank you! ❤️ I always enjoy your bag tutorials! I'm making more wet bags for my grandchildren/children. We live near beaches 🌴🏖️, too! I only have hardware for 1 more. Maybe I'll line a few of these bags with the oil cloth! ?
I started my tailoring by stitching this simple project. I followed the steps and finished the bag. Only string is pending.. I'm happy. Thank you so much❤
Amazing teacher ❤️....Thank you for showing us the technique to do this bag. I find many tutorials are very specific to their own project, and its sometimes hard to recreate their projects in different sizes. Your tutorial is very clear and gave me a good understanding of how to create such bags. THANKS a lot.
Thank you for this easy tutorial - you are a great teacher because you speak slowly and explain everything clearly and simply. I’m going to make them for my grand kids. Best wishes from a Granny in Scotland.
Thank you so much. I am going to be teaching young kids to quilt and thought a drawstring bag would be a great project. I have your book as well but love the live video.
Excellent instructions! Thank you for the tips like deciding where the top will be for directional fabric. Appreciate all the closeups. Can't wait to make this for a friend.
I just made my pre-k class this bag for Halloween 👻 and filled it with treats. The kids liked it and my coworker didn’t believe that I made them. I told her how amazing you are when you explain everything in details. I’m so happy with my project.
Thank you for this! I made a really lovely drawstring backpack from Apple Green Cottage, but my non-mechanical brain just couldn't get the cord threading steps, so glad I found your video - excellent instructions!
Awesome! I especially like the top, as I hate threading string through a little hole. I like to make my own strap for a few reasons: it’s more economical and like to sew the two ends together leaving a finished strap. I've been making lined bags, but I have some canvas fabric and thought it would be best not to use lining since the fabric is so heavyweight. Thank you very much for this tutorial.
@@yokeiseasy they were all preschoolers then. I did tie a knot to shorten the strings which they can let out as they get bigger. Today they are 6, 5 and 4. The bags work great but it take them some time to sort out how to use them. At first we had to help them put them on.
Thank you. My question was how much cording is required and how do I string them. You demonstration answered both. Your pace of instruction was helpful - not too fast and not too slow. Kathleen
Love all your videos!! Somehow I missed this one. a couple of weeks ago and so glad I seen it now!! By far this is the best tutorial on RUclips! Love the French seams and the top!!! Thank you from Ontario, Canada! =o)
I LOVE this! I've been making drawstring backpacks but they're not great. I will definitely do this with the French seams and that amazing top. Can you show/tell us how we can line it? I just like having that lining. Thanks so much. This is a wonderful tutorial!
I have made this using your awesome video. Thank you! ❤ I would love to make a quilted version but don’t know how to not make the seams so bulky? Can you do a video and make a quilted version with a liner? I LOVE your work and your videos.
I’m thinking I can do the quilting about 1 in smaller so the batting is not right to the edge to decrease bulk in the seams. What are your thoughts? ❤❤
I like this drawstring backpack. Thanks
Thank you for this video! I’m teaching my granddaughter how to sew this summer and this will be a great project for her.

That’s great! I’m glad it worked for you. 😊
That is great timing with the children returning to school in September. Nice clear video.
You've explained it in such a great way that I think I can make it. Thank you!
What a terrific project. I love French seams

thanks for this. I will use a wider strap (adjusting size of casing) as the narrow cord will bother my shoulders.
Just finished sewing my first bag today. It came out great! Thanks so much! 😊❤🪡🧵😁🎉
Thank you. Just found you today. You are a wonderful teacher ❤️

You made that so easy to follow.

I'm going to try it. I think this will be a good project to put in the operation Christmas child shoeboxes.
Thank you so much. I just made 6 if these for my grands.
@gwenmadeline54 did you use the same measurements as in the video for your grands?
And are your grands preschool or elementary?

Laura where did you get the tools 🧰 ⚒️ fabric ???
It is from Northcott fabrics but it is a few years old
Where can I purchase that point turner with the hole in the end ? It would also be great for inserting ribbon !!
