I have watched many tutorials for drawstring backpacks. I have taken a little bit here and a little bit there. I like to add a 3”x 14” strip at the top instead of making the little holes for the string. I’m also making my own straps as I'm trying to be economical. Macrame cord might work well, as it wouldn’t fray as much. Just a thought, as I haven’t tried it yet. I want to say thank you for the tutorial.
Great tutorial! Thank you! My 10 yr old granddaughter wanted to make a library book bag. We watched your video together today & had it all cut out & done in a matter of a few hours. :) (including adding strips of pom-poms as embellishment & her machine embroidered initials.)
OMG Lorrie What a Beautiful Backpack Bag!! The Material is such a pretty pattern!! Love what you chose for the Drawstring....you sure did one super Incredible Creative job!! You really are quite the seamstress!! It was so much fun watching you create your Back Pack and how flawlessly you just assembled it.....your Tutorial is Outstanding and your Tips, Tricks & Techniques are Tremendously Terrific as you spread your Maker Inspiration in abundance!! YOU so ROCK!! Joan Smith
Lorrie girl you have did it again. You are my most favorite RUclips person because you give easy instructions. I look forward to see what you are making next. I am going to make my mom and my husband's mom Mother's Day gifts from some of your projects. I leave RUclips sometimes and go over to Facebook and see whats happening on your Facebook page. Because of you zippers don't bother me any more. lol. Question - what size rope did you use 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 ??? ....Thanks for your help...Sheron
I'm going to cut one if my granddaughters school spirit shirts and use it as the front of the back back bag to store her PE clothes in bc I cant find any bulldog fabric to match our school theme.lol.hope this works out bc I'm a beginner sower but always willing to challenge myself..thanks
Amie Sparda you can make this without an iron but I would recommend if you want to do any kind of sewing you invest in an iron. You can get one for $10
I’ve been sewing for probably 60 years you are a very good teacher

I am recently retired, and I too am making drawstring backpacks but I’m making my own straps.
Love this tutorial! My granddaughter learned to sew last summer, and I think this is a great project for her and I to make. Thanks, Lorrie!
Like the video! I thread the rope thru the holes first before sewing the seam close. It was much easier and faster too!
New at sewing, this was so easy to make. Thank you. I have made 8 in the last 2 months. Everyone loves them.
