I remember listening to the original version with my grandmother who is Sicilian but knew the song well from her ex husband who was Neapolitan. I still remember asking my grandmother what the song was about and she just said it was about an Italian who wished to be american.

Ci sono italiani, catalani, spagnoli, argentini, colombiani, francesi, brasiliani e cileni che hanno collaborato a questo progetto durante i dieci anni di attivitá. @@ginolongo1968 Stupendo!! Il nostro repertorio è esattamente questo. Oltre agli anni '50 ci spingiamo ai primi twist degli anni '60. Esiste un repertorio praticamente infinito da cui prendere ispirazione!

@@ninomilonetv siamo un quintetto, denominato "Bikini & Baby Dolls",in reatà è il titolo di uno show varietà tra satira e ironia demenziale,andato in onda su tv commerciali la prima volta nel 1982 e poi nel 1988. Il primo causa cachet modesto, fummo costretti a rinunciare al gruppo musicale. Il secondo avemmo un cachet sostazioso ,così potemmo coinvolgere eccellenti musicisti pronti anche all'improvvisazione. Spettacolo che venne apprezzato anche da Renzo Arbore,tanto che ne prese degli spunti per i suoi show tv. Così con l'amico ed autore con me,per sia per nostalgia che per sperimentare una versione live, abbiamo strutturato con lo stesso spirito ciò che abbiamo fatto in post produzione per la Tv, lascinso in larga misura il repertorio canoro. Quindi tra le frizzanti canzoni scelte ,quelle più ironiche ,degli artisti citati, si alternano momenti buffi,ironici e parodie delle realtà odierne. Pertanto " Bikini & Baby Dolls vintage music show " ( adoro i titoli lunghi e sconnessi) . Stiamo lavorando per uscire nelle piazze, all'aperto, dalla primavera prossima. Teatri e locali, non è conveniente in considerazione delle restrizioni governative ,riduzioni di posti,obbligo del green pass e crisi. Un cordiale saluto.

he does a good job. on my page i have it translated to english and all versions of it including the actual original hit--which most people have lost track of it and dont even know there was a studio recorded hit that started it all. most people only know of the dance versions or the recording of them on the stage for the movie.

Отличное исполнение,в таком исполнении ещё не слышал.Понравилось.
Но память подталкивает:в молодости (если не сказать" в детстве") впервые ,на простеньком радиоприёмнике АРЗ я услышал эту песню. Голос певца запомнился,но до сих пор не нашёл ,кто же это пел.Это было советское радио ,первая программа. Где-то же есть эта запись? Может кто-то вроде Чака Берри ?Голос, помню,был "низкий".

Я думаю, что оригинальная версия Ренато Карозоне не имеет себе равных.

@@ninomilonetv Спасибо за информацию,а когда я впервые услышал эту песню ~1963год, где-то в 17лет.Запомнилось, и даже слова диктора ,сопровождающего (т.е."краткое содержание")помнятся.Но как я понимаю исполняло песню "великое множество" певцов-найти то,что запомнилось с юности не возможно.Что поделаешь.То что песню сохранили очень приятно.
