It was great having Dana Andrews on the panel. Bud was a true professional at what he did. Always ended the show right on time despite Polly and her antics.
Thank you so much for posting this. Hearing relatives voice from the past is always a blessing and amazing. Edgars picture, along with the other police officer with him and the mafia arrested, is now in Albany in at a NY police Barak that has a memorial inside
Sharon Davidson Friend, you should us about your relative. Others have made such comments and explained who and what. It is always so very interesting to me.
contestant three in game two...with white gloves....the way women used to dress to go shopping at department stores. these game shows are like a course in mid 20th century manners and beliefs.
My mum born in the 1920’s always stockings to go to the grocery stores even in her late 70 ‘s . Had her hair done once a week and wore makeup to go down the street . Grooming was a way of life . Never in tracksuits .
I always guessed the answer by the way the "candidates" said their names. The person who was familiar with saying his or her name is usually pretty obvious.
The way Dana Andrews shows his ballot by pressing it against his cheek is adorable! I've always enjoyed his superb acting in film noir, so it's only suitable that he's brought in to question a mafia-arresting policeman, haha Polly Bergen was not very good as a panelist (her questions were often incoherent and she wastes a lot of time), but I absolutely loved her necklace here... the sparkle of the gems as they catch the light was so gorgeous and dazzling!
I-80 was not yet completed over the Sierras from Reno when this episode aired in 1960. He answered "Route 40," referring to US Highway 40, which was correct as of 1960.
*Information Please!* In Round #1, is the gathering of Mafia "families" that is being referred to here the real-life one that was alluded to by Robert de Niro's character at the very beginning of the comedy "Analyze This!"?
Have you seen "The Godfather"??? That was LONG before any "gathering of the families" in "Analyze This!" (which I've never seen, but I know the premise.)
The "gathering of the families" in "The Godfather" took place in *one room* somewhere in New York City. However, the gathering in "Analyze This!" happened in some small town in the mountains of upstate New York. (There are as many shots of cows and trees as there are of mafiosi.) This is much closer to the confab that was referred to in this Episode of TTTT. Addendum: I've *just* found this. It is the first paragraph of the Wikipedia plot summary of "Analyze This!" And it almost exactly matches the description of the gathering which the State Trooper helped to break up: "Mob boss Paul Vitti narrates a brief history of the Mafia: in the wake of Albert Anastasia's death, the dispute over who among Vito Genovese, Carlo Gambino and Joe Bananas will ascend to mob supremacy results in the Apalachin Meeting in upstate New York. The meeting is raided by the FBI, and the Mafia does not call a summit again until the present day."
Ah, okay. I think I misread your initial comment and didn't register that the reference in "Analyze This" was to a real life incident (as I said, I've never seen the film). Very interesting!

What did Polly Bergen do/or not do?
@@johnryman1366 You have to watch the shows that she was on the panel and you will see. She is always entertaining.
She's funny!
Polly and her antics were about the ONLY thing that made the show worth watching!!!!!....:>)
@@johnryman1366 If I hadn't been two years old in 1960,there were plenty of things that Polly could have done for me!!!!

I used to watch these shows with my Grandmother, all the time. It's a joy to see these on here.

Was Polly Bergen drinking before this show?
Love it
Interesting how many people were religious. You don't see that much today.
We're still out there but not so favorably treated in the media, alas.
Kinda had to back in those days.
I was raised Lutheran. Not such a bad way to spend Sunday mornings.
Slam dunk on the panel in game 2
Handsome Dana Andrews Best years of our lives and My foolish heart
i love the old game shows , they were so classy and entertaining , not like the new ones like jimmy fallon's password
Love is allway number 1
Joseph Barbera belonged to the Mafia? Was that before or after Yogi and Boo-Boo?
😆
Yeah. Why. Wasnt Peggy Cass. On the earlier. To tell. The truth. And how old was kitty Carlisle. In these. Shows. Pam Johnson. Mcherson. Ks
I think that Peggy Cass was doing a lot of theater work during this time period. Kitty Carlisle was born in the latter part of 1910.

I think it's stupid to ask investigators what tactics are used to catch criminals.
...a licensed basketball referee... Only one choice, really. 😆
Why?
I would love to watch old To Tell the Truth episodes here, except that I can't stand Peggy Cass.
