Just a FYI: you say in the video that if one of your summons pulls a refresh card, you may refresh one of your items. This is incorrect and has been stated by Isaac. Pulls from the modifier deck apply to the summon, and since the summon has no items, it cannot refresh any.
We've had some similar experience with our three spears before he retired, had a long goal and we got to experience a very late-game build. Scroll of Lightning and stuff like volatile bomb and eagle eye goggles and potions with proficiency.
amazing guide, i didn't know you can stack +1 attacks using the same item more than once. Just started the QM for the first time, my buddy retired him awhile ago. I'm playing with a Sunkeeper and Chuthulu
+ 1 tip to Offensive options 9:10 . I dont have access to Bloody axe, so i have next option to boost my dmg on each round. If you have frontline character or you dont care about it, you can use stupidly broken combo of items (#37 Robe of Evocation + #75 Circlet of elemts). Of course its only good with QM's Reinforced Steel and Scroll of Lighting infusing. Just another +1 dmg to all your strong attacks)
Not impossible, just less likely (though not too unlikely as you have 3 negatives and several rollings). The refresh item attack modifier is an ambiguous effect for the sake of advantage/disadvantage, so if you draw refresh/+2 you would take the refresh as it was the first card drawn. Conversely if you draw +2/refresh, you would take the +2.
Subjectively the refresh card is BETTER than the +2 by the very fact you make the point jt would be unfortunate If the plus 2 stops you from using your refresh card. So therefore the refresh card is the better car that advantage would use
You say this build is group independent but wouldn't having.... certain... SPOILER classes make item summoning redundant or is it the more the merrier?
Hey! Awesome vid. I just got my 3 Spears to lvl 5 and was looking for ideas. We think a like haha. Question tho. On 13:45 the refresh modifier works on consumed items?? I thought it only worked on spent items...
Heya, great question! The top loss effect of Reinforced Steel (RS) is crazy good and it's quite unthinkable to replace it. If the following conditions line up however, it's worth considering: 1) at higher prosperity levels, you may find yourself with other means to refresh your items (earrings). 2) once you have a critical mass of items to open with Proficiency, RS becomes less good. It forces you down to hand size 7 early on, and requires two turns worth of top actions to set up. The high setup overhead means you're not doing damage! 3) as you level up, you prefer bottom move actions with side effects. 2 Shield at blazing fast initiative is great, don't get me wrong, but there's competition especially if you take Scroll of Annihilation as your level 9 card!
I can't understand why you keep Crushing Hammer at all. Yes the stun is nice, but it's on a piddly attack 3 on a loss card in a small hand - you'd be far better off carrying some Stun Powder. And Move 2 Shield 1 is nothing to write home about. The only half-decent thing about that card is the initiative.
The 17 initiative is huge. This character is slow as hell and needs to go fast sometimes. Also, you can enhance the card. I went a more tanky route and enhanced it with a plus one shield. So it’s now move 2 shield 2 with a 17 initiative which is really good. Combined with my armor and tower shield, I can soak up a lot of damage and also go before the monster do to make sure my shield 2 is up before getting hit.
This card move 2+ur boots all time because of reinforced steel. So, it move 4(boots of striding) +shield+strenghten(expected enchantment) . Super broken card! And this card never play top. Only at the end of scenario for +2 exp

Well done on this guide! You motivated me to play this class next (and I'm strictly a ranged/mage player lol)
Never take "replace 0 with +2" or refresh will be impossible with strenghten

great review please do more !!!
Sad I now start with 12 perks at lvl 7, can't optimize my attack modifier like you

Awesome to hear! Yes, the refresh modifier works on consumed items... it's pretty insane!
Really good video! But why do you replace Reinforced Steel at level 7? Isn't the effect the signature skill of the class?

can you really use the refresh card to refresh a lost pot?
I think he got that wrong.
@@Ledgesider No, you can refresh consumed items with refresh modifiers, even if the modifier icon suggests otherwise.
You can! I thought otherwise as well, but Issac (the creator of the game) answered the question on boardgamegeek.com.
