This is the best way period! Hands down! This is the only method I teach- most people don’t clearly understand and when you explain they get confused. You explain it very well.
I’ve been playing for five months and have been concentrating on Swain but I’ve noticed over the last month ball position is the most important and the hardest to get correct. This is a very simple way to look at ball position I like it thank you
I was tinkering with the whole amount of tilt with different clubs and remembered your take the right hand down by the knee with driver tip. Used it with other clubs, kind of just didn't go as far down the leg as with driver, longer the club closer to knee. Worked great! Helped me notice if I was not standing tall enough too! I'm gonna dominate my buddies on course this year. Thanks a million!
Love it!! I'm a 7hcp that still struggles with consistent ball position and width of stance... partially due to my wacky brain over thinking and being way too technical!! This was really explained nicely, hopefully I can just trust it and let it fly!! Thank you!!
You have to find the ball position method that works for you. I have tried the "progressive ball placement" method (middle for wedges, moves forward as you get into long irons/woods). I have also tried the "static" position just inside left heel for all clubs (sans driver) and varying the stance width. Previously, I had been a "progressive ball placement" person, but as soon as I switch to "static", my entire game changed for the better. Note: The opposite can be true. It's all in how your body/mind works.
My entire life the tendency is for me to hit turf first behind the center of my stance (back in the stance). Maybe it's the length of my arms relative to my body and legs. Not sure. I am definitely not swinging with the arms either I've got full body rotation I'm much more advanced in terms of golf swing knowledge than the amateur just starting out. Even if the ball is placed forward my mind and body just always put that damn clubface in that same spot just off center to the right.
This is an issue that is not often addressed as it should, and if you get the positioning of the ball wrong it creates a series of other problems which will compromise the whole swing. This video in its simplicity put it so clear that I would personally challenge any other youtube golf teacher to explain it better. BRAVO!!!
You make it look easy buddy ;) Seriously though, I've had a problem with ball position for a few years now, and this is an excellent baseline for people struggling with pulls or pushes due to flawed ball position.
Excellent advice, but I just want to add one little thing. Us senior golfers (like me) who have lost some flexibility in our backswings through the years should try this - as you play a progressively longer iron you should also flare your right foot more, to help you make a fuller backswing. If I was stepping on a clock face with my right foot my foot would point to just past Noon for a short iron and wedge, about 1 to 1:30 for a mid-iron, and 2 to 2:30 for a long iron and wood.
Thanks for this video. I've always struggled with ball position despite being a single digit. I never practice because I hit every shot kinda clanky. I can go a whole round, shoot 80ish , seem lost all round but I think this will help a lot.
I was taught, wedges and 9= back heel Mid irons = 1/4 (from back to front) Long irons = middle Hybrids/woods = 3/4 (from back to front) Driver = front heel. Would you say it’s worth changing this? Any recommendations would help. I’m a 15 handicap.
Yeah.....off back heel is too far back. I would suggest the way I showed lol but certainly never back of middle (for normal shot any club)....rest is OK
Hey Gary! That could simply be a sign that you're overdoing the tilt...dial it back a touch and see if that resolves the fat shots. If you don't get it sorted, send us your swings at www.cogornogolf.com and we'll help you fix that there!
I guess it is just my swing, but after a lot of trial and error and practice, I have found that my driver ball position is left heel, my 3-wood is a ball behind the driver, 3-hybrid is center, and 4-iron to 60 degree move back from center literally a few millimeters incrementally. I get great feel and distance this way. I am not sure why this works for me, but I know I cannot "Golf Jack's Way".
I disagree with the recommendation to increase spine tilt back with longer clubs. This only makes it more difficult to get the lead shoulder down with the backswing. Best to keep setup tilt neutral with all clubs IMHO.
Great video! I actually came across this method last week and was playing around with it at the range. My only issue with this was that This method has the 7/8/9 iron further forward than it is traditionally taught. I was always taught that the pw-7 are approximately in the same place a little bit ahead of middle. Then you start moving forward as you move up from the 6-iron to driver. Maybe its just bad tips I picked up. When I was trying this I was consistently topping the ball and even with a slight adjustment I was hooking a lot. Essentially closing the face too much by the point of contact. Any tips to address hooking/topping?
Thanks for the kind words and feedback! For sure tips for hooking/topping but I would need to see a video of your swing to see WHY thats happening to say how to fix for sure.
sorry about that, getting my left and right mixed up. How would one know if the right foot, for a right handed player, was positioned correctly for each club. In other words, would an 8 iron stance then seem a bit wider than one is used to?
I would not lose sleep over it. "Correct" could be defined a bunch of ways. Stance should gradually widen. I would keep foot flare roughly the same. This will not be the same for everyone
I’ve tried this religiously for the last month on the range and I still cannot gauge the amount of tilt needed for each shot. Is there any guide to that as far as where to look or where to position your head?
The Jack Nicklaus (move the ball) vs Greg Norman (every ball under the shirt pocket) debate. I personally think Greg's system / the Cororno 2Ball Method is better and it's what I use. I do find that for my 52/56 degree wedges, that my ball start line was too left and I've recently had to force myself to move the ball back for these clubs only - I think it's mainly because I've watched your videos for 2 years and now play with a more closed face with no forearm rotation - thus the wedges were too shut by that location
This is the best way period! Hands down! This is the only method I teach- most people don’t clearly understand and when you explain they get confused. You explain it very well.
Thanks! I like this as well....simple way!
I have found probably the best video to describe ball position on the internet.. can not wait to put it in my practice routine
Glad you enjoyed this one, Kevin! Thanks for being here with us!

You got it my friend----hope this serves as a nice simple reminder!

Hi Eric great tutorial regarding constant ball position.
Thank you!
Really helps as you explain it so clearly. Thanks.
Happy to hear that, Elizabeth! Appreciate you watching!
wow you just simplified the ball position concept. Thank you.
:)
Excellent 🙌
Thank you!!!
Great demonstration....thank you.
You got it!
I’m so glad that you’re a proponent of the one ball position. There’s too much other stuff to remember. Lol. Thank you for this thorough explanation.
You got it Jeff!
@@CogornoGolf I’m learning so much from your videos! I haven’t played in a while and am picking the game back up. Thanks again.
You make it look easy buddy ;) Seriously though, I've had a problem with ball position for a few years now, and this is an excellent baseline for people struggling with pulls or pushes due to flawed ball position.
:)
Great video. So the added tilt is what helps get the ball up on driver and longer irons. If I start hitting worm burners I need more tilt? Thanks.
100%
Also if worm burners make sure you aren't hitting bottom of club face (low on face)
Very nice 😊
Thanks George!
Excellent . More accurate set up . Like the 2 ball
Thanks!
Thanks really helped
Glad to hear it Dave!

I am going to add the lean and play a fade. Good video with good ideas.
Thank you!

Hope it does help, Zach :)
Thank you
Thanks for watching, David!
Great lesson! Ball positioning relative to stance width and tilt, bringing it all together.
Thanks, Roger!
I was taught,
wedges and 9= back heel
Mid irons = 1/4 (from back to front)
Long irons = middle
Hybrids/woods = 3/4 (from back to front)
Driver = front heel.

Fantastic tips. Trying this on the range tomorrow!
Hope it helps my friend!
Great video Eric!!!!
Thanks, Carlos!
Really helpful Eric!
Thanks, Gilbert!
When I start trying to tilt my shoulder other than what is natural for the length of the club…. Fat shots abound
Hey Gary!
That could simply be a sign that you're overdoing the tilt...dial it back a touch and see if that resolves the fat shots.

Awesome ⛳️👍✌️

Hi Eric regarding the left foot with the constant ball position, how would one know if the left foot was positioned correctly for each club?
Answered on other comment

All good----several ways to get the job done!

nice Vid Eric ! , so promotes the low point for all the clubs in line with the left heel ? Thanks Miguel
Thanks! More or less!
I’ve tried this religiously for the last month on the range and I still cannot gauge the amount of tilt needed for each shot. Is there any guide to that as far as where to look or where to position your head?
Video is really the best way to do it....FEEL vs REAL
I’m seeing more and more of front foot flare? What are the benefits of that?
Easier to rotating in follow through

Nicklaus didn't move the ball. golf.com/instruction/jack-nicklaus-keys-proper-setup/
Love it-both great!
I happened to Jack's Golf my way just last week. Jack promoted the static ball position. It's on RUclips.
You could actually measure the position for drives with your actual ball... I'm sorry. 😔❤
Thanks for your feedback!
