I’ve just recently got back into golf I’m 49 years old and I’ve been watching a lot of your videos especially on the putting and wedge play and it has helped tremendously. 1 month ago I shot 97 & 95 I just finished a round today and shot 44 on the front and 39 on the back for a 83 a huge improvement thank for the videos keep ‘‘em coming
Matt, THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU. For me, you are the only golf God I follow. The videos that have changed my life are your proper grip, hitting long irons (I have two I'm working on, but they go together for me: quiet hands and slightly pushing the club out. I don't lift my arms on the swing; and this proper ball placement video. I think my husband is jealous that I've added another golf husband to my golf marriage to Lefty!
Just saw your October 2022 Video on Ball Position. What an absolute way to begin to figure out your ball position. I have never seen anyone utilize a "Drywall Square". Really a great idea. I have a metal square in my garage and a net downstairs in the semi man-cave. Everything felt great with the exception of the Driver. Wow, different deal there......Thanks, excellent video.
Matt I somehow missed this video watched it yesterday. I made up a guide by marking a alignment stick with the measurements of foot and ball position points. Used it on the driving range today and struck the best shots of the summer. I have been plagued with the chunks all summer but never hit a bad shot. Hopefully I can transfer this to the course. Thanks for what you do.
Great advice and so true. I had to practice and unfortunately do the trial and error to figure placement out (the hard way). Wish I knew or that someone told me this when I started
I don't know how I missed this one, but this is what I've needed. I've really been struggling with 5i through fairway woods on position and striking. 6i down is good and driver is good... The in between is the current hole in my game. I took notes on this one. Thank you!
Great stuff and good go-by guide. Love the T-square for putting. I have the same exact T-square from ACE hardware, so that will get some use now that my deck is done!!
Hi Matt, this is very useful. Just getting back to golf after 10 year layoff. I've made notes for ball position on a 3x5 card. Any tips on ball position for hybrids? Thank you😀
Thanks for the great tips! What about ball positions for each group of clubs in relation to how close or far from you? I assume the longer the club, the further away the ball should be? I noticed at least on your putter, the toe was higher than the heal.
This is a very very good tip. Thank you very much for this video, this will make a huge difference in my game. Please keep on making these awesome videos man.
Perfect, I need this. I go from sending darts to the green to pushing or pulling them way off line. So frustrating. Think I can use the square during a round? 🙂
Great video on ball placement... I would like to see you do a putter ball placement when it comes to the L.A.B. Golf DF3 Putter because the ball needs to be more forward in your stance because of the forward press grip.
I prefer to keep the ball about 2-3 balls of my lead foot heel, then widen or narrow my stance depending on the club. For me, this produces less margin for error than trying to keep the same stance width and move the ball around. It effectively achieves the same results.
Retired & gave away my t square but pretty sure i can come up with something, getting better at ball striking just have hit more than 1 golf shot in a row
When I putt I don't have the ball directly below my eyes. I have the point of contact between putter and ball directly below my eyes, which means I move the ball very slightly forward. I feel I get a better roll this way. I also want to feel like the putter head is "chasing" the ball once it's hit.
Lol you knew YT was gonna choose destiny as soon as you said it in the last video side note this was a very informational video thanks man imma implement this tomorrow when I go play against my step father
Was playing with a guy yesterday who had a good swing and tempo but was prone to snap hooks from time to time. His snap hook swing was the same as his good shots. I noticed his ball position was too far back on his driver. I said move the ball forward 2 inches and then every drive was beautiful high draw.
Hi from Drew in CT. What’s crazy is when I have the ball in a forward position like that I hit it so far left. When I go backwards from what you’re saying I hit it straight. Does that make any sense?
Yes makes perfect sense. But with out me seeing your swing and set up. I can almost bet don’t hold me to this but I’m guessing after you swing and go through with your follow through you have most of your weight on your back foot instead of your front foot. Make sure your transferring your weight forward through your swing.
I think it is most important aspect of the game. If ball position is not right you are not going to have a good shot or at least the shot you are visualizing. You should do a video with the Cobra One Length Irons to see how that changes with Ball Position. Apparently you put ever shot in the Middle.
Ball was always centered. Just move your lead foot just like you did for your wedges. But then your back foot is the only difference. Moving further the longer the club. 🙃
Man o Man...I've been placing my wedges at the edge of my back foot...and I've been getting away with it because I have a decent swing...now I need to find a 48 inch T.
I have heard that you should not measure ball position with lower body or feet, rather it is an upper body alignment issue. Which is why you foot flaring issue you ignore where you feet actually are. Again. It is upper body alignment issue.
I did not watch the whole video, but its crazy If you need to measure ball position with every shot, especially out in the tee-box. There must be a system to this shit? Like one base stance/ball position for a givet club,, and then just move your back foot backwards (or front foot forward) X amount of cm per club
I think that’s prob why Sam sneed put the ball in the same spot for every club and just changed the width and position of his right foot…seems like a lot of work
Golf is not a game of *perfection*... guy, lining up, is the first thing he did. Are you blind, or just ignorant? Because that's the only 2 options in your case to make this post. But, I think the answer is pretty easy with my perfection correction for you.
Quick reference guide
Short Irons (9-SW) - Center
Mid Irons (5-8) - 1 Inch Forward
Long Irons/FWs - (Front Eye) 3 Inches Forward
Driver - (Front Ear) 4 Inches Forward

Good stuff! Nose=wedges, left eye=irons, left ear=driver. T square isn't just for building houses, also for building golf ⛳ game!

FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! looking foreward to getting a net and a square to give this a shot!!

Mr. Short Game, thanks for the drill! Great video.
Just had a nostalgic moment! Lol. MSG has come a long way from filming his videos in his backyard in the “valley”!!
Great stuff and good go-by guide. Love the T-square for putting. I have the same exact T-square from ACE hardware, so that will get some use now that my deck is done!!
Great video. My coach says to flare but measure from the heels instead of toes, which gives the same result.

I have an extra slot in my bag for that T-square

Why move the ball for your irons at all? I’ve been playing everything in the middle. Great channel and great videos. Keep them coming.

I was thinking about getting a golfboks for this.
Great video 👏🏻🇩🇰👏🏻
All around awesome video.
Good video MSG! What are the shoes you're wearing?
very nice lesson!
Thx very timely for me
Is this way, what I consider the modern traditional way, better than say the Hogan theory of ball placement? Great video.
Does “flairing” or opening your left foot help with distance?
Allows for more hip rotation which will lead to better distance.
Did you custom make the Ace ruler? Do you have a link for it?
Have you seen the Rimer Ball Position Trainer? Maybe do a review?
I honestly reckon the last tip Matt in regards to putting was probably your bet tip with putting and you don't need to be at the course either 👍.
This is so good.
it's PHOENIKS!!! or in dutch FENIKS!!! Great video's Matt

Hope it was a social game, if comp you incurred a general penalty for advice.
@@paulgouge1896 Was a casual Sunday afternoon round. Not a competition but were keeping a score.
@@danieljd6776 Thanks for the reply, my post was aimed to 'assist' everyone who read your post.
@@paulgouge1896 it helped me. I actually didn't know that rule about swing advice. I know you can't offer what club you hit.

I'm an engineer, and when you pulled out a T-Square to measure ball position, I said "this guy gets me"!
Is the same for on the tee

are they all the length of a 7 iron?
@@ijames1981 I believe so.. which means you hit the ball from the same position for all the irons.
Ball was always centered. Just move your lead foot just like you did for your wedges. But then your back foot is the only difference. Moving further the longer the club. 🙃
Fantastic
So why not draw a reference line on the hitting bay turf ?
I’m kinda surprised the don’t have alignment markers at places like top golf for practice.
Good stuff

I thought your sternum to be a little in front of ball to compress the ball🤔?
Matt, I'm surprised you don't use the same ball position for every shot. Even Mr. Hogan did that
What about a 3 Hybrid?
I have heard that you should not measure ball position with lower body or feet, rather it is an upper body alignment issue. Which is why you foot flaring issue you ignore where you feet actually are. Again. It is upper body alignment issue.
Destiny is working her way through college

Great video as always Matt! I especially like the putting drill.
What happens when you play single Length club?
The advantage / purpose of one length is same ball position / same swing.
That’s all I do in my living room is putt off a metal 4 foot ruler. My putting has gotten a lot better.
I think that’s prob why Sam sneed put the ball in the same spot for every club and just changed the width and position of his right foot…seems like a lot of work
Many shorten it to dez, sounds more like a friend then haha
Destiny prefers the powder blue lol
👍
The link to your 24 day pdf does not work, its busted
It's "DESTINY"!!!!
It was meant to be! We need to start donating a bunch of $1 bills now!👊🏼😉
I have quit the game so many times because of poor contact!
Next on the stage...gentlemen put your hands together for destiny....
I would have gone with MSG.
That trip to Home Depot was a business expense, right??
Destiny? ... So the GG putter is a stripper now? Okayyyy. LOL
Golf is not a game of perfect…….& there is no “perfect” ball position without proper alignment. The two go hand in hand.

I always wonder why golfers give tips on a golf pro’s page.
@@marvfj6451😂
You are not doing what you think you are doing.
Your ball position for driver was way a head of your left ear.
Please put a white grid on the mat
This is all so off 😂 if you listen to tiger talk about this stuff, his ball position never changed more than 2 golf balls forward and 1 golf ball back
Will you marry me? :-)
