Thanks for the video, much easier than guess work These new minis have by far the worst battery replacement obstacles I've seen on any vehicle, ever. Good luck getting roadside assistance to replace that one. No wonder the battery dealer didn't want to swap it. I don't think BMW foresaw the environmental impact their "creativity" is going to have as some of the people who end up having to install the battery themselves will get frustrated and just toss the old battery.

No, I’m not doing this. After seeing your tutorial I decided to replace the battery with Halfords which by the way they’re coming to you and they replace it in your car park but thank you so much for the tutorial as it helped me to take the right decision!

It’s a big fuse if you have a smash the pyro fuse blows and disconnects the battery, most sports cars have it and most BMWs have them it’s about the size of a matchbox. I have an R57 JCW CONVERTIBLE 260bhp however my battery is at the base of the windshield but not as difficult as this video but still has to be coded in when connected ❗️
Question is, after change of battery do Mini F series need to be connected with laptop, diagnostic tool to set up system. As i heard some cars with start/stop system do need🤔
Sometimes yes they will need to be programmed in however I have had it before where it accepted it straight away so I would say pretty much pot luck with that one

You haven’t got to remove the battery from the car to charge it. You can do that on the charging point. However, if you want to charge the battery and remove it, you will not need to register the battery when you put the same one back in

Hi, I changed my battery for 2017 Mini and the start stop does not work. Do I need to do anything special? No error, just start/stop with line thought it. It’s a new Bosch battery so don’t know why it’s not working.
I’ve replaced a car battery quite easily in my Toyota but my Mini Cooper S 2017 was a nightmare, had to call a mechanic in the end, RAC couldn’t do it for 3wks🤬
Warning disclaimer most mini Cooper need to be hooked to a external power source during the removal of the battery to keep your programming and foot control module from fucking yo in the near future

2017 Cooper S here. Just installed new battery. Started right up, no need for diagnostic tool

You haven’t got to remove the battery from the car to charge it. You can do that on the charging point. However, if you want to charge the battery and remove it, you will not need to register the battery when you put the same one back in

They make things very hard, you literally have to disassemble the car to get the battery out.
What size battery did you use?
F55 and F56 use an H7 AGM battery
And I thought changing the battery on my old R56 was a pain in the ****.
