I love this scene, this is when Dan really realizes that Blair isn't the bitch he thought she was and see's that her world isn't so perfect.

Blair might have been born at the top, but she does work for everything she gets aside from her place in the hierarchy. Serena literally gets everything handed to her. I think Serena genuinely cares for Blair, but that's what makes the betrayal worse. She does it without meaning to. She slept with Nate while Blair was dating him. NOBODY can deny that. Blair has every right to hate her for that, but she still TRIES to forgive her even if it's with the intention to stab her in the back for it...but at least with her, you know that's a risk. With Serena, you don't know because she can do it unintentionally.
Sorry to the Serena fans, but I'd prefer the betrayal that I can see coming than one that I don't expect.
I like Serena - but anybody would be insecure if they were constantly compared to someone else and seen as less than them.

She turned Lola into the next It Girl and then became jealous with all the attention she got so what did she do? She sabotaged her. Serena really can't deal with someone else in the spotlight. Blair was spot on.

There are people in this world who simply breeze through everything and never have to worry about the slightest thing. They never have to stress and everything always works out perfectly for them. If they do wrong everyone turns a blind eye and they never get crucified or humiliated. I’m not one of them, that’s for sure.
I'm glad the Leighton got the role for Blair Waldorf and she proved her acting ability and talent to the producers and directors of the show. I heard the Leighton didn't have much money back then, and working on a project like Gossip Girl really helped her financially and launched her career.
But the great irony is that her career post-Gossip Girl never took off and Blake Lively’s did, until she became little more than a baby-making machine for Ryan the twerp

I have to say that one thing I noticed is that when Serena is in trouble Blair always comes immediately to the rescue and makes Serena her #1 priority. When Blair is in trouble Serena helps out, but not quite the way that Blair does. I would say that Blair is the better friend overall.

Serena ain’t that great of a friend but she is an amazing sister to Eric. The way she handled Bart when he didn’t want Jonathan at the party amazes me. She cares for her brother but she can be toxic when it comes to friendship. But Serena is generally nicer than the others. Blair on the other hand would tear you down if you make even one wrong move. That’s why I would pick Serena over Blair anytime. She’s already a great girl. She just needs guidance on some aspects of her life for her to become a complete package. After all, most of her toxic traits stems from her daddy issues. She just needs to learn to not mould herself into a relationship and to not become a completely different person every new guy.
@@zambee1219 gotta disagree. When serena was getting drugged by Juliet and everyone started to hate her during the dance, Eric said that Serena still has him and she's not alone. Serena literally pushed him aside and said "that's not enough". She's full of crap. Serena doesn't respect people. She just hangs out with them or meets them, screws up, then begs her main friend group for help. She is ALWAYS having her own issues and is selfish. She doesn't even understand what responsibility or trying hard is. Obviously in real life nobody would want to be friends with Blair. But as you can see, once you actually be nice to Blair she's a pretty good person and has a conscious. When Dan got her food during the internship at W she literally decided not to sabotage him. Blair makes a lot of mistakes, but at least she doesn't have as much baggage. Serena is the definition of baggage and she doesn't have much to offer. I can probably count on my hand how many times Serena tried to defend or help her friends. Half the time she ghosts them because she gets butt hurt over nothing

Tripp chose to leave his wife, and he chose to leave her in a car crash. Ben was sent to prison by Lily and Serena helped him get out despite the consequences for her mother. When Ben decided to move on, she moved on as well. While Louis did everything and even disobeyed her own mother just to get married to Blair but then what? Blair ran back to Chuck. Blair and Serena are both horrible but again, Serena is generally nicer than Blair.

She says mean things to everyone even her friends. I might not be able to take those kind of insults but other people don't take it personally. Serena isn't that great of a sister. Literally Jenny was closer to Eric than Serena. Blair did mess with Louis, but she did love him at first. Then chuck started to become a good person and Louis started to become a bad person. Then she made that promise to God. That whole arc was a mess. Serena did date a handful of bad people in the show but she also dated some really good people. She has no excuses. Blair loved Chuck and would've married him sooner, but he kept screwing up causing Blair to have to search for someone else. If Chuck could just be a good person like when he was with Eva, then there wouldn't be a problem. Serena dates really good people like Dan or Nate, then leaves them for bad guys like trip or Ben. That's her fault. There's a huge difference. Half the time Serena breaks up with someone she doesn't even give a valid reason.

martinski The sheer magnitude of Serena's crime comes from how young and innocent they all were when it happened. Blair was still a virgin who believed in fairytales. She was convinced she and Nate were going to get married, that she and Prince Charming would share their first time together, only to learn that he'd already fucked her blonde, leggy best friend behind her back. That would be enough to destroy anyone's feelings.
When Dan and Blair kissed in Season 5, Serena may have been in love with Dan but they were all years older and more experienced in dating. Besides, Serena spent multiple seasons jerking Dan around and taking him for granted, so it's not like she deserved him much, anyway. Blair, on the other hand, had worshiped Nate and been a good girlfriend to him for years, and that makes his betrayal so much more hurtful.

I refuse to believe that Serena had no idea and it was an "accident". Either she's really dumb or she's lying. She *had* to know something was off. And the only reason Serena gets as far as she does is because she looks like a goddess. She's sexy. No doubt, but that's her A-ticket to surpassing people. Blair is gorgeous but she doesn't have that special something that Serena has and it makes her insecure. She actually puts in work for everything she wants while Serena just glides by every single time. It is unfair.

She gets away with stuff just as much as Serena does but her insecurities make it seem like she doesn't when she really does. I love then both in fact i actually favor Blair more which is why i can say that she is completely manipulative and vindictive at times even childish. At the end of the day Blair just didn't like Serena getting any attention even while they were friends because she was insecure it only took a mistake on Serenas part for Blair to do what she probably has always been wanting to do; take away Serena's natural spotlight and make her insecure about herself. Throughout the season we see that Serena is actually really sincere and even a little naive which is why things like this happen. It isn't her fault that the photographers found her more appealing and wanted to shoot her if Blair wasn't so insecure she could have rocked the photo shoot just as hard and as good as Serena did. They are both equal in outside beauty each of them having a little something about them, it wouldn't have been hard but Blair was just so insecure at the time.
Jamesha Radke Well when you put it that way it does make sense and I agree that Jenny has to work harder than anybody. Blair and Serena were already born at the top, but Jenny was the one who actually started from the bottom. And I agree that Blair can be very manipulative and childish as well as vindictive, which is why I can't stand her most of the time. But the one thing that I've respected about Blair in the very least is that she knows who she is and she accepts that and as much as she can be horrible, at least she'll do stuff to your face where as Serena will go behind your back. But I would take Serena over Blair still because even though she does have her moments, there aren't very many. Blair always needs to get one over someone and she acts like a child when she doesn't get her way. It's gross. I still like Blair but I can't deny that she annoys me to no end sometimes.

This friendship of Blair and Serena is so messed up.When I watched Gossip Girl(around 14) I didn´t notice but I honestly do not understand why they are claiming to be best friends. Blair gets constantly angry at Serena for any Spotlight she gets, basically treats Serena horrible(pushing her into a fountain because she got the prince, hitting her with a shoe etc...). Serena on the other hand sleeps with everybody who is not gone on the count of three, betraying her best friend by sleeping with her boyfriend etc..In the end they always forgive each other but I don´t no why, I probably could never forgive my best friend for sleeping with my boyfriend neither would I forgive if someone used voilence against my to pull my confidence down.
Yeah, their friendship is so toxic that it probably wouldn't last that long in real life. I don't know many people who would put up with a friend like that for very long. But the plot needs drama so there's that, I guess?

her dad left, Nate's usually too stoned (in the books anyway) to really give her his heart the way she gives him hers, and Serena, is kind of just plain selfish. -She's always focused on her wants and desires that she never notices or cares when Blair needs someone. I like Serena, but she really can be kind of self-centered sometimes.

I think Serena did know something was off, but she was just hoping that she was wrong because the photoshoot was so fun and she really didn't want to hurt Blair's feelings. Plus she probably didn't think Blair would be that mad.
What I like about this scene is that before this Blair was leaving a message for Serena that it was probably just going to be some random model and Blair looked okay, like she literally didn't care. It hurt her that Serena was chosen, but she honestly would have forgotten about the photoshoot if it was just some random model.

The whole issue of their friendship really just boils down to Avoidant attachment (Serena) vs. Anxious-Preoccupied attachment (Blair), and the difficulties in communication and expectation that entails.

I love how in one moment we see Blair very vulnerable and weak making us feel bad for her, then the next she's putting Dan down by being a total bitch with simply saying the word, "great".

She was my absolute favorite. Her character was very 3 dimensional and well developed.
The only time her character stagnated was by staying with Chuck. Like it was great development at first, but the way she kept returning to Chuck was just toxic. Honestly, from this episode on, you kinda get the hint that Dair might have been great together as endgame.

It wasn't fair that Blair accused Serena of stealing the spotlight in this episode. It was a setup by Eleanor and Serena fell for it and was too trusting to recognize that something was up. Sometimes we don't know peoples' true intentions until reflection comes and it becomes painfully obvious.
I miss season 1, Gossip Girl good old times. Season 1 was like a mix of Manhattan and Tudors style (specially clothes and food), next seasons were just too ordinary.

I disagree with a lot of the comments, I understand their views but I also don't think that Serena intentionally did something like this. I do believe that Serena did have the right intentions and was so happy she was blind to the reality. It's probably just because a lot of people describe me the way that the comments talk about Serena, but that's just my view.

I think it's poetic that Dan overheard this convo (you take everything from me!) in s1 and starts understanding where Blair is coming from, but in s6 Serena/Blair have a similar confrontation again where Blair says a similar thing to Serena who had just manipulated Dan into cheating on Blair... bittersweet. I guess some things never change.
Contrary to popular opinion, I can relate to Serena in some respects. Not the sleeping with your best friends boyfriend part, because that was just vile and there is no excuse for Serena’s behavior there. But, I like Serena’s character in general more because the thing about her is she genuinely isn’t out to get anyone, which is odd in the Upper East Side. This makes her naive and oblivious to other people’s feelings because she genuinely thinks everyone believes what she does bc the sun is always shiny for her, in a way. While this isn’t a great character persona, I like her more than Blair’s character because Blair is incredibly insecure and naturally malicious - I understand she also has a human side but people love to talk about Serena and Nate when Blair cheated with her boyfriends best friend in the back of a limo AND THEN slept with Nate as if nothing happened, then tried to run away to avoid the consequences. That in addition to her genuinely attempting to ruin peoples lives when they threaten her power, I just dislike her characters core. Nobody in this show is a great person obviously but people just tend to dismiss the stuff Blair did while hating others for the exact same thing bc Blair is iconic.

Blair: Multiple revenge on Serena. Sabotaging her Mother’s fashion show. Manipulating a dude to get back at Chuck. Trying to destroy Jenny. Just being mean to everyone.
Serena: Sleeps with best friend’s boyfriend, accidentally kills someone, leaves town with no goodbyes whatsoever to her friends, ruining Yale for Blair and then follow her to Columbia, being a drunkie and have her best friend take care of her all the freaking time, telling her best friend she’s insecure and that it’s not her fault bluntly without any hesitation and mercy whatsoever, ruining Chuck’s plan to make a club because she couldn’t keep her mouth shut, ruining a teacher because she’s jealous, ruining Blair’s wedding because she’s jealous, treating her mom like shit because she doesn’t like living in the upper east side, apologizes for the least of times but does the thing she apologized for all over again, dating her teacher and married congressman.
The thing is, Blair matured through time. She’s insecure and that’s her main problem. Idek what Serena’s main problem is because she just has alot of problems🤷🏻♀️

As for ruining a teacher, if you’re referring to Ben Donovan, that was Lily who had him falsely imprisoned, not Serena. Not sure how she ruined Blair’s wedding either. She didn’t make Blair confess to Chuck how she’ll always love him, much less influence Louie’s decision to keep the marriage on for show. She took the fall for Dan who took the recording and posted it on Gossip Girl.
All in all, Serena did a lot of stupid, aggravating, hurtful things. There’s no denying that. But it’s pretty clear you either haven’t watched the show or you have some personal vendetta against Serena.
Ali B nahh, Yale was all good for Blair when Rachel Carr got caught. Thing is, Serena knew she could get into Yale because of her image and being on Page 6. How did you think Emma Watson got into Brown? (not trying to drag her, I love Emma and she also is really smart but we know that HP had an advantage). Serena knew that she could get a free pass bc of the press and that she could use her charm in the interview like she always does. Fooling around with the history teacher to get that good mark, she admitted that. Meanwhile, here’s Blair giving her 100% to get straight As so she can get into Yale while her so called best friend just uses her model looks to get the marks.
Blair didn’t leave it because she knew Serena was hurt, and we know Blair would go ANYWHERE for her best friend. And she ended up being right.

They removed Blair from the admissions list and because Serena declined her offer to go (both because she couldn’t take it away from Blair and because deep down, she didn’t want to go to Yale) it went to Nelly Yuki. She didn’t apply anywhere else and no one would accept her last minute because of her hazing. The only reason she got into NYU is because Cyrus called in a favor. I honestly have no idea what you’re going on about regarding Brown and Emma Watson.
As far as history teachers, I have no idea what you’re talking about there either. The only teachers that Serena’s been involved with are Ben Donovan at boarding school (which didn’t happen until way after she graduated high school and became an adult) and Colin Forrester, the professor at Columbia. Neither of those relationships had any effect on Blair, especially in regards to college. As for the whole Yale episode, Serena went into the admissions office telling them Blair deserves to be there.
Like I said, I agree Serena’s done a lot of fucked up shit. But not everything you seem to think she’s done. You just have some personal vendetta against her. In this nightmare like many others, she felt vulnerable and overthroned by Serena. In this scene, the same song is playing and she has the same feelings : jealousy, frustration and vulnerability.

Serena is such a good friend, she try to hep Blair whit her shoot of photos, because she do not look "natural" and relax in fron of a camera, even when Serena has to see Dan she stayed whit Blair, she was toll that Blair is gonna be whit her in this shoot and Serena wanna be whit her friend to hep her, and Blair treat her that way, ok because she was frustreated and angry but that doesn't was even Serena's fault was Blair's mom, if she doesn't whant her Blair to do the photos she should to bring another model not Blair's best friend, so Blair has no right to treat Serena that way, but anyways Serena understand her and treat her whit compation and love, and even knowing that Blair's mom is important in the fashon industry and that was basically a job as a model she ran away whit Blair and stole the dreeses whit her to make her happy and give us one of the best scenes on the show.

It's kind of annoying that Serena always has to put her self down for Blair, I mean the main example I remember is how when Serena went to work for Trip, he literally fell in love with her in like 1 day. She couldn't even work normally without someone falling in love with her. Serena always takes the blame for other people loving her too much. Why doesn't Blair get mad at her mom instead? Or why don't we get mad at other people? I mean Serena is a kid too. It must be so annoying having every damn person like you. Sleeping with Nate is completely wrong but idk....Blair's life would probably be easier if she wasn't friends with Serena but this reminds me of that movie She's out of my league. Perfect people shouldn't have to change themselves so that the people around them are less insecure. When we judge Serena we should judge her according to her actions and not be biased. In this situation she was way in over her head as usual, but I think it's mostly Eleanor's fault. Serena was OK in the beginning because she can't control how people like her. What made start to dislike her is when for once somebody didn't choose her first, and she couldn't handle it. She literally sabotaged Blair and Lola just because for once in her life she wasn't in the spotlight. It really shows her true colors.
