This man is 86 years old, yet has the ambition, the bravery and heart of a young man; it really throws out the whole notion that you only achieve your greatest work when you are young. He inspires me to no ends as an artist and a human being.
Robert Bresson... Manoel de Oliveira... Luis Buñuel...there are quite a few filmmakers/artists who created their best works at the end of their lives/past the age of 70 (Buñuel)/80 (Oliveira & Bresson). We could probably include in this list, the great Fredrick Wiseman (his best works all came after the age of 50, with a particularly prolific period between the ages of 59-69 and another period of fecundity after the age of 80). Certainly these men are exceptions, but late blooming geniuses do exist.
I just finished reading his "Incal" comics, because they weren't accessible on my own language until now. Truly magnificent story and telling. And Mobieus art was magnificent. ❤
Alejandro even if he is not a fluent enligsh speaker, when he speaks, we understand cause it is the language of spirit he has been communicating brilliantly. Respect to a true pioneer.
Si...esto es increíble! por qué yo como hispano puedo entenderte a ti por qué espiritualmente hablas en un idioma de la ignorancia y la torpeza, si; eres también un pionero, te felicito
Alejandro truly does have a beautiful mind. He's so humble and so likable, you can tell he's truly honest in everything he does. As for his english, being a native spanish speaker myself I can relate to the difficulty that comes when you want to express religious or spiritual ideas in english, because Latin America has a very very diverse and unique spiritual background, and it's very hard to translate these ideas accurately into english without sounding a bit poetic or vague. Some turns of his phrases sound odd in english, but when you think about what he's trying to say in spanish, it's a world of meaning that gets lost.
so cute so humurous. so truthful. So inspiring. Authentic relationship with ourselves, is and will always, reflect the highest and deepest aspects of our experience. A soul born into a body into its physical form here on planet earth. On our very own way. Wanting to know meaning for all there is.... so one can share his/her creativity and uniqueness with others. Study, observe, experience, feel, ask, process inside, make meaning .... share, direct, create and live... our own souls greatness, meaning and purpose by participating authentically in the dance of life. Thank You Alejandro for sharing your special gift's with humanity. ❤
He's nothing less than a living sage. "What you are looking for is already within you." "Rejoice in your sufferings." "Thanks to them, you will reach Me." ________ "If you make the film for a million people and you have only one person who understands you, it's good...I make the picture for *you* !
Alejandro truly has a beautiful mind. Even when his English is slightly wrong..... "....the sky will dear, the stars will despair, my friends will despair...." .....he naturally creates even more evocative meaning. Using only 10% of the English language comprehension he talks an unquantifiable amount of spiritual, intellectual and literal sense. I would really like to meet this man, but his works are a great conversation in of itself,
Brilliant. Everyone should watch this. I was in the audience and i asked the question concerning his thoughts on the american comic industry. It was a wonderful night.
at 1:00:15, when jodorowsky is recounting the story of when he read the tarot for kanye west, when he said the card that represented kanye was 'le mat' or the fool...... there was huge laughter!! obviously the audience here didn't understand the true meaning of the fool (according to jodorowsky in his book 'the way of the tarot', the fool represents boundless energy going into the world)!! the look on jodorowsky's face said it all....... lol!!
Iain Sinclair is a giant in literature,he writes much on psychogeography. He is insane.Extremely powerful. Both this guys are inspired by the Situationist and Letterist of the 70's
Jodorowsky was talking about the great American authors of the comic book world as well as the pioneers of the graphic novel medium on the Western side of the world. As Jodorowsky reached into his mind to pull up a name, someone from the audience suggested 'Alan Moore' to which Jodorowsky denies, claiming "Alan Moore" to be part of a different story. He concludes his talk by highlighting the importance of the humanist themes shown in the works from the authors previously mentioned, sans 'Alan Moore'.
Not just that. He comes back to Alan Moore and says Alan Moore interests him because of his study of magic, and that he introduced magic in the comic books. "He make a big gift to this art." is what he actually concludes.
Convinced this Anglo audience doesn't understand Jodorowsky. Especially when they keep laughing at spiritual and insightful comments. Or when they think he's speaking sarcastically, when he's actually being sincere.
I love Jodorowsky, but you have British twats trying to bait him into trashing American comics as if Engerland didn't consume mountains of Marvel/DC reprints from which the entire British industry emerged. Plus the US has always had a thriving alternative comics scene whereas even Britain's most acclaimed comics were genre-oriented. Also when he talks about America as a "colonizer", as if Europe wasn't (and still is) the biggest and most destructive colonial entity on the planet. The country of his birth, Chile, was colonized by Spain. The country of his residence, France, colonized every African country they could subdue and still drains massive sums of money in interest from impoverished former colonies. As for Britain: What have they not attempted to colonize? Does India ring a bell? Hong Kong? Scotland? Ireland? Bermuda? America? I wonder when Europeans will ever be honest about their blatant and feverish hypocrisy? Oh yeah, never.
This interviewer is just terrible. He didn’t even try to modify his English to accommodate Jodorowsky’s level of comprehension. Even worse, he asked surface-level questions and almost never bothered to follow up on any of the genius shit his guest said.

Juhouk what do you mean? I was complimenting Jodorowsky on how he still makes sense even if he mis-spoke a word or too. Why are you adding drama?
Aldi Nastimi And you do as well. Takes one to know one , right?
HE SPEAKS FOUR LANGUAGES BADLY. in his own words.
Beautifully said.
He was actually trying to say: the stars will dissapear, my friends will dissapear

AHHH yes. I was scouring the internet for this one moment at 3:43. Where he suggests artists to have a cat. Love it.
The only way to discover each other is simply with a nice and honest talk. ❤️💪🏻
I wish i had a father like him

The puppet show story was strangely perfect to end on. That man is incredible.
Brilliant Jodorovsky.. You are great!
I love how before a story comes on, he always asks, "You want I tell you that?" as if anyone would ever say "no" to a story from Jodo.
Well i came here for Alejandro and i realised that the legendary Iain Sinclair is here.Ladies and gentlemen, this spectacle contains great men.
you ain't wrong
He makes me cry
Qué honor que este hombre sea de mi país. What an honor that this man is from the country where i am.

I love Alejandro.
Jodorowsky interviewed by Iain Sinclair, talking about Blake?? I have just exploded. If Alan Moore is in the audience, I will explode again.
