Amen to decluttering in layers! Dawn the Minimal Mom says that if your house still feels hard to maintain, you have too much stuff. I have been decluttering for years, but now with a new baby, I find I can't maintain what I used to be able to maintain, so I need to declutter even further and make it more simple.

I am a 68 yr old who has lost all umph. I can’t get motivated to do anything. My depression get very high. I sit here watching RUclips. I try to shut it off but alway go back to it. Watching you with your struggles helps me understand what I’m going through. My ADHD adult type is brutal. I used to be very crafty and I can’t even get in my craft room. So thank for your truth sharing. Always a follower

Totally agree about cleaning your appliances after use. Vacuum cleaner, carpet shampoo cleaner. My ex husband instilled in me that you look after your tools and they will look after you. He’s a carpenter, not that it’s important, but he always looked after his tools. ❤

I use the mesh pouches for games too and love it! Like Dawn from Minimal Mom says, it's all inventory we have to manage. I enjoy working on my home, getting it paired down so it is much easier to manage. My kids help out with it too and have gotten pretty good at it with me when we go through their toys. Even my husband, who hangs on to everything, has finally started to feel how nice it is to not be drowning in the clutter and has started with his stuff now too.

I also tried a lot of stain removers. Then found ODORx Un-Duz-It Unleashed Pet Stain Remover and Odor Eliminator. It’s amazing. Had a bunch of old stains that kept popping up. Treated with this stuff, left it overnight and then used my carpet cleaning machine. Not a stain in sight. I actually went in with a black light as well to find all the hidden spots from when our dog was a puppy. Those are gone now too. I buy it on Amazon - comes in a big bottle and it’s concentrated so I just make a batch in a spray bottle.

Lynn I always use the shout grease remover in the can for pet stains. I will also mix a tablespoon of oxi clean in a measuring cup with very hot water and pour it in to my cleaner. But the shout in the can works AMAZING!

I'm trying to minimize because I too am tired of picking up stuff, dusting, and then doing the same thing a week later, Ugh! So I now have 5 good size boxes ready to donate. Let someone younger and stronger dust and move my junk around. 😅 Little miss Emma ccracks me up, she's a doll . Thanks for sharing her with us ❤

(I hope that came across the way I meant it...) Social media makes "you" feel like you gotta have it together all the time and I just can't. Especially in my current season. Hi Lynne! I work the ER a lot and for body fluids we use peroxide to remove blood, urine and face stains on our scrubs, we then use a Cavi-Wipe to disinfect our area on the scrubs, inside and out, that we cleaned with peroxide. Neither bleaches or fades our colored scrubs. I use peroxide on animal stains on our area rugs after putting towels on the area to absorb any residual fluids, then I put a bucket under the rug where the stain is and pour peroxide over it and allow it to drip through to the bucket, rinse with distilled water and repeat until the stain looks completely gone, empty the bucket, rinse it and then place it back under the treated spot and allow it to drip dry overnight, then I clean it with my carpet cleaner.

Hi Lynn, thank you so much for your content! I find you so relatable and I appreciate you so much. I too get very overwhelmed by the clutter and stuff that accumulates in my home. I find with everything else going on in my life, clutter in my home makes my mind feel very cluttered as well. Decluttering throughout the different phases of life is something I continue to do frequently, just like you.
I was wondering if you could do a video showing the cleaning of your carpet cleaner next time you are cleaning your carpets? I would be very interested in seeing the process you described.

I have been unknowingly "quieting the house" after evac decor season for years. My family used to make fun of me, but now when they walk into our home and it looks like we are moving out because only furniture is left, they love it! A lot of what you're seeing from the carpet is the dyes being pulled from the carpet. I'm so glad we bought several Ruggable rugs (multiple sizes from 9x12 to 3x5s) because we have pets and 6 kids too! We have washed them all sooo many times. Saved me more money in the long run tbh. We love those pouches for our games as well! Most of our games, plus puzzles are stored in them. I'm with you on decluttering all the time, but we have 9 people in our house (my adult son temporarily lives with us too) and sometimes I get really overwhelmed and I'll purge a ton. I have purged a lot of the kids toys - they do not play with them and they end up thrown all over the place. They have a few special things they enjoy instead (and we play a lot of board games, watch movies and they have computers/ipads).

I’ve recently moved and at my old home I had become so overwhelmed with everything that I was just doing the absolute minimum of cleaning and that just add to my depression and anxiety. So thank you for your inspiration and continued inspiration ❤️

girl, do NOT FEEL BAD about encouraging your kids to declutter and decided what’s the most valuable and important things they have. As long as it’s not clothing, shoes and essentials, it’s so helpful to do this. i wish i had more of this done when i was younger. Your kids are learning to declutter by you helping them. it’s so important to their mental health even if it seems “cruel” now. It’s not cruel and they won’t be traumatized as long as you give them the autonomy to decide what they want to keep and what they want to get rid of. You can even make a deal out of donation. Kids genuinely like to share after a certain age and do good. Instead of “throwing away” “donating to a kid who may not have the opportunity to have as many cool toys as you” will help instill a do good attitude and help give toys a meaning when declutterring. i was much more likely to declutter when it came to donations. Kids have empathetic little hearts and declutterring to a good cause makes it easy. Don’t feel bad for helping your children declutter. even if they don’t know it now, clutter causes anxiety in children. It can also cause issues in the future with letting things go or not buying necessities out of anxiety of becoming a hoarder.

PET SMELLS; best I’ve found is Dr. Bronner’s PEPPERMINT castile soap. I don’t know what it is about that particular scent, but it even cuts right through cat urine. (I have a large male cat that has urinary issues) Plus it’s non-toxic! Win win!!

Do you use it (dulited) in a shampooer? How do you use it? I’m curious. I have a dog that is older and has trouble recently holding it throughout the night. (He gets diapered at night) but I’d rather try to get the smell out maybe he’s trying to remark? I’m not sure. I’ve used the zep pet carpet cleaner and it does the trick but it seems to come back if that makes sense.

With your office carpet cleaning .... how much of that was dye? Hard to tell, but after that many times you would think the water would be clearer. Deep breaths!! ❤❤

I totally understand the dog smell, we have a bloodhound and it doesn’t matter how often you bathe her, the smell is there. We won’t even talk about the slobber 😂 I think your house looks great but I also get so overwhelmed.

My daughter’s dog is going to be living with my daughter and her new husband in a few weeks. After that I’m going to clean the carpets and get all the dog hair out. That dog’s hair flies everywhere all the time. Drives me cra cra🤪

I’m having trouble with stuff, especially children’s toys. I don’t want to weed but I’m going to have to and am dreading it.

I’m in nursing school I bust my butt I work weekends at the hospital. I have two grown children that live with me for dogs two cats and I’m overwhelmed the dogs pee on the rugs. I can’t afford to keep replacing them. There’s freaking dirt mud all over my kitchen floor the laundry never gets done. The tub is disgusting, so overwhelmed and I just want to run away
