I’m hoping to gain some knowledge so that I can move forward in other specialties. I recently lost my ER coding and out patient contact coding although I’ve coded several except for observation and physician and now find my self struggling looking for work it seems the physician based and observation are highly requested and although I have a COC I’m not getting much hits
Question what if the patient came in to the ED was placed on observation status then an order was placed for palliative care in observation with a subsequent date of service. How would this be coded? Thanks for your help
Hi, New subscriber here. Have you ever done a video on your educational background? I was enrolled in a Medical Coding program at a community college a few years ago and was doing really well but had to withdraw due to work. I'm trying to get back into a coding program or healthcare admin program but I'm wondering should I enroll in a community college, 4 year or certification program. Any info you can provide is appreciated! Thanks!
the1atcpc I enrolled in career step which is online and they give you a year to complete the program and you can apply for an extension if you need to. This is a certificate program . They are looking for you to be certified. Not necessarily where you go to get the education. Hope this helps
My personal opinion is that coding is harder for nurses because they know what is suppose to happen and they tend to code that way but as coders we only code what is documented. So, keep that in mind should you go into coding. Code only what is documented not was should have been documented.
Good afternoon ma'am... I have a doubt... For example- if a patient is admitted on January 1st 2019 at 9:00am in the internal medicine department... and on January 2 at 10Am his status change to observation and on same day i.e 2nd January GI physician asked for consultantion around 11 am and consultation criteria does not meet ..what cpt code would be assigned for gi physician...or how we billed for GI physician..??
@@codemastercoach6636 ma'am in our organization we do consultantion code on the basis of RR conditions. R- referring physicians. R- request or rendering. If in report referring physicians not given then We say consulting criteria does not meet. Hence we don't code consult cpt

Hi Coach! I just wanted to see if you could do a video about NCCI edits? Thanks for all these great videos! 😁

What do you mean by "consultation criteria does not meet"?

I agree, there must be a request or order for a consultation. Consultations are done at the request of the attending physician.
