I'm 45 and returned to training after quiting 16 years ago as a Sr Red (dumb move). Several months after returning I tore my achilles (brutal) just before one of two BB exams per year. I healed enough to test for my deputy BB exactly 6 months later and went on to get my 1st Dan 6 months after that. So....family support, patience and determination are definitely key. The most interesting thing I feel within myself as a BB, which is somewhat hard to articulate, is that getting here was about standards and being here is about expression.

Exactly that is what happened to me. My adductor muscle broke...but I kept fighting with rehab and now I am black belt 🥋😎🇰🇷

This was a very inciteful video!! During my journey so far Ive broken my toe and fractured my ankle but still showed up to classs. So I know when I get mine I'll truly know that it was hard work, pain, sweat, even tears but I still push through!

You look exactly like a guy I saw in a different video who taught me how to make the best Neopolitan pizza dough

Well my sensei's pushed me most of the way. I think they he intentionally got on my nerves because they knew that drive me.
And then I had all the naysayers that said I couldn't do it, so the other half of that was just because they said I couldn't.
You're right every black belt has a driving force behind them.
    Thank you
