We had a rough lambing this year and only had 4 ewes lambing. My one first time ewe completely prolapsed. After 2 vet visits, we had to put her down last night. If it wasn't for Sandy, and what I have learned from her, I think that I would give up. Thank you Sandy for your wonderful hard work and videos.

Deepest sympathies. Anyone who has had sheep has had years like that, it’s always hard but I think when you have just a few it’s more personal. Hang in there.

My son is in FFA and they had a pretty bad year at his school with the lambs too. A first time mom had a 16 lbs lamb and prolapsed but they were able to save her and she's fine now even showed at the fair two weeks ago. My sons sheep (leased from the club) died from from Toxemia we were able to save the babies and kept her limping along for almost 6 weeks. My son was feeding her all kinds of stuff the vet recommended but she wasn't getting any better.

Poor mama that had the huge single -- that was rough! We had that happen last year -- a first timer had to have her lamb literally pulled out. She wasn't overly thrilled with the process and didn't show much interest in taking care of the baby. We supplemented her for a few days and the ewe gradually came around and accepted her. This year she had a set of a tiny twins (one looks like a little Holstein) that just fell right out of her. We told her that's what she should have had *last* year 😄

Good idea to dip the tail also. Always good to fight any possibility of infection. Thanks for your good humor with the moms and babies!

Watching all that hard work doesn't make me want to be a sheep farmer. However, seeing all these cute babies makes me want to find a sheep farm that I can visit. I need to see some baby lambs.

@@cottage-core_ They used to have some fairs out of town near me whereby they'd have baby animals that people could go in the enclosure to feed. It was cute. I don't know if that still goes on.

I am devastated right along with you to see your ewe lambs struggling. It will be hard to say goodbye to Red and to the Billy ewe (saw her waddle by at one point, I hope she lambs soon for her own sake), but you are bravely making the tough choices to keep your flock healthy. No one in the livestock world would ever fault you for that. We’ve got your back!

@sandi Brock have you ever tried a bucket of warm water with black strap molasses in it for your shocky mom's? As the vet who taught me the trick said, "after that much work a warm sweet cuppa is just what the doctor ordered". I've used it with many different mammals (including the people type) and it does seem to help them get back with it.

Since you changed the layout, the lamb taxi has not been needed. I find it fascinating the changes in nutrtion as the flock needs change. I will be interested in that single's weight. You are right, legs crossed seeing that. Happy that lambs are popping at a controlled chaos .😊

I had to laugh outloud a couple times during this video. From that mama that had 4 babies including the Billy lamb, Sandi showed the last one born. It was so teeny tiny that it gave me a chuckle. Then that one that was white with black spots all over it looked like someone painted it. I had never seen a lamb look like that. I laughed with delight at that one.
