R.I.P. Avail. These guys were part of one of the best and close knit music movements of our generation. Avail, Hot water music, Ann beretta, strike anywhere, leatherface, small brown bike, and the list goes on. Glad to be a part of that scene. This song changed my life. Pretty ironic, I was sitting around playing THPS4, and this song came on. I stopped "skating," listened to the song, then got up and went outside. It was my first experience with punk. I was in 5th grade. It makes me want to get up and go! Fuck this comment I'm leaving lol

This makes me remember the good old days, when people discovered music from sources other then Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero...
Being a gamer, and a music fan, I feel so conflicted about this. While one side of me appreciates that the developers pick so many songs that I like, another part of me dislikes that so many songs become "the song from game x" instead of standing on their own.

so underrated
avail was pretty goddamn good. i have had several of their albums. despite the era in which it was released, the album One Wrench is one of my longitme faves, and sits side-by-side with my collection of Bad Brains, TSOL, black flag and Circle Jerks. it ranks right up there with the rest.

saw avail more times than i can rememeber.. also grew up in VA. i always thought they were the most popular hc/punk band at the time cause i saw avail tons of avail shirts at every show i went to. then i moved out of state... hehe

Me too! These guys were one of my first shows when I first moved to RVA...I wish I had been born earlier, this was around '02 just before One Wrench was released. Or maybe just after. Those were the days.

wow i was just randomly reading a review on this band for the first time and i looked them up on youtube to click on this song and i just realized that i remember it from thps4, wow. those games had such awesome music!
Yes they are still together. Unless something monumental happens they won't be putting out anymore albums. They do, however, do a 10 to 20 day mini tour every year. That may be put on hold this year as Beau Beau is going to be a dad any day now.

Pretty much aren't playing together as a band anymore. Avail is done from what I've heard. Most of them have families now, few are in other bands. Only three of them still live in the Richmond area apparently.

Tim's still playing out, he and Beau Beau, Gwomper and Joe all still live in RVA although I don't know about Ed I never really got to know him. Tim tours all the time, recently with Josh Small from RVA and Austin Lucas who's not from town but are both fucking amazing. Check out Austin Lucas's "go west."

Agreed. I really don't think that when Avail, or SW or any band started playing they said, "we are going to be 'X' style of band. They play what they like. The styles are really just meant to help describe them to other people. They aren't meant as laws. It undermines the actual music to argue about it.

its great to see this music discovered through tony hawk pro skater - this is real punk music not shitty greenday or good charlotte - these guys,like noFX, dont sell-out to bullshit commercial mainstream labels like greenday and bad charlotte - i'll support avail over them anyday, i just brought this track from itunes it kicks ass !!!!
