Pam and Jim, heard you mention the internet may not always be around, maybe consider offering a USB thumb drive with all your videos or at least the most popular ones available for your audience. I would certainly purchase one. Thanks for all you do!
Get a program like Video Downloader Ultimate that downloads RUclips and other videos, convert them to a small format that still maintains quality, and save them yourself. It's extremely cheap to free depending on which app you get, and a versatile as any sources you follow.
Please take time to rest! We realize this world is in turmoil and time is of the essence; but it’s very important for you to take care of self! We appreciate you and Jim!
I agree!!!! It seems that sometimes we depend on people like Pam and Jim to do the heavy lifting for us so all we have to do is get on line listen and do what the video tells us to do without experimenting and teaching ourselves what we need to do.. I like experimenting with different food preparation that I think will work for my family. This channel is a great resource but as Pan stated the internet may not always be available so we need to help with the lifting.
Thank you Pam and Jim for all the sharing that you do! I’ve learned so much from you two. I love to pressure can I’ve done a lot of meats, legumes and many other things. Thanks again for all that you two do! God Bless
I’m new to watching videos…. started last week… really enjoy watching yours and another homesteading one. I’m learning so much !! So thankful for all the info you share. God bless.
My idea for a book would be how to make things from scratch like baking powder, brown sugar, yeast, cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla...things that we usually buy in a store, but can be made at home. These may be important thingss to know in the future.
There are loads of WW2 recipes on the internet and those give you dishes from scratch with minimum ingredients, minimum skill, minimum equipment. Concentrate on British recipes because our rationing here was so much more severe than in places like the USA, Canada, Australia etc. However, our rationing was worked out to give optimal nutrition for the least amount of food....and it worked. At the end of WW2, my parent's generation were the fittest in the history of Britain. My mother was a young woman in WW2, and she and my grandmother taught me to cook and keep house using those wartime principles. I still use them today and encourage the younger ones to move from ready-made meals to real food at an affordable price.....with zero waste!
I am not a person who can afford to purchase freeze drying equipment. I was hoping you could more with dehydrated foods, since that can be done multiple ways, to accommodate different income levels. Thank you for all the information and time you spend on this!
If you type into the YT search bar 'dehydrating potatoes,' you will find at least a dozen channels that focus solely on that. It's very rewarding to see the different channels and hosts. God bless you.
We bought just one or two cans of dehydrated food for the past 10 years twice a month. Slow and steady is the best way to build a freeze dried food storage. Augason farms and Thrive Life are our favorites.
I got a second job at a restaurant. I get free shift meals of delicious food when I work on the weekends. As a single person it cuts my food bill while making me money.
My dear Pam, you are just totally wonderful. What a loving, serving and giving heart you have. The fruits of the Spirit flow greatly from you. I'm so glad to hear you're going to do these books upcoming about meals in jars, recipes for them, etc. Freeze drying meals, dehydrated food meals. It's all wonderful. I have to say I'm a bit concerned you're overdoing it with still working a full-time job. No doubt Jim is a big help and great partner. May the Lord bless you and keep you and may His face shine upon you. 🥰
Pam you are truly one of the most trustworthy people I can read and watch. I have been afraid to dehydrate because my dehydrator didn't come with a book to explain the temps to use! Even with fast beens i had no clue how long to cook them. Yes, more cookbooks or short instruction books from you would help. Thanks for your new book. It's really great, but i don't freeze dry. Can we convert to dehydrate some recipes easily? I love your teaching!
Pam and Jim, you have already taught me so much to get ready for this. Not just for me but my children, my mom, my sisters and their families. Thank you for all you do.
I agree with Tracy.. my granddaughter is 31, knows how to cook from scratch, thinks her grandma (me) is a crazy old lady, but I learned from my Mom, and she’s learning from me. And now that I’ve found ,🌹, I’m learning so much more. Thanks guys.
After watching your dehydrating videos, I bought a dehydrator and just dehydrated my first veggies. I did them from the frozen bags and vacuum sealed them. Made me feel good that I can do that now to prepare. A book with recipes of how to use your dehydrated food would be great.
What's worked best for my dehydrated items is slow cooking recipes. I make a lot of soups, stews, and casseroles from dehydrated veggies. A decent kitchen scale is really helpful: weigh your food before and after dehydrating. The difference is how much water you need to add back. Dehydrating changes the taste just a tad which is why I add them to soups, stews, etc. Rehydrating mixed veggies, for instance, and expecting it to taste like you just steamed the frozen veggies isn't going to happen. Not that they taste bad, just different, if that makes sense. Kudos to you for planning ahead!
I'd love to have a 'short book' instructional specifically on various methods we can use to cook when the grid is down. Just the basics on how to make a haybox cooker, how to make a solar oven, how to stack blocks into a rocket stove, etc, all together in ONE printable book. That would be great. Thank you for all the hard work you've done to help us - you are a GREAT teacher!
Urban prepping would be incredibly helpful! So many people, myself included, live in cities but prepping/homesteading resources are largely concentrated on rural living. Unfortunately many can't afford to move just like that so urban-focused prepping would be super valuable!
I live in the suburbs and grow a little in my yard but find growing indoors kratky method under lights is more successful. I use part of a bedroom to do this.
Sad day when society yells "doom and gloom" anytime a person talks about REALITY. As a farmer I can tell you that you are 100 percent right. This is going to be SEVERE not a case of you cannot get but one type of cereal etc. Certainly going to be the case. You reap what you sow. Those that wanted to ignore all the signs and warnings given to them. Call people doom and gloom and other names. Hope you learn to love grass, grubs and bugs. Agree some of those tables are ridiculous if your not livestock.
I agree,we need to be truthful, people need to wake up,buy while you can,I was doing so good but had to have a knee replacement, set me back but ready to start again soon.I grew up on a farm, wish we had it now.
Hi Pam & Jim!!! I just love your channels. 3 things that would be a huge benefit 1-using plants for minor ailments 2-meals in a jar, just dump in a pot and add water type. Maybe a few desserts too. 3-best time to process can, dehydrate, freeze dry- certain items. Dealing with the planting/growing cycle. For example Sweet corn is best in August, so that’s when you’d buy to process. Thanks so much!
The PDF version of your food storage book can easily be printed at Staples & spiral bound. Get the pages printed on both sides of the paper. Another option is to let them print it, make holes & put it in a binder. You can expand the binder into chapters such as a protein bowl section & include any other books you may want to include. I’m looking forward to the food storage book!
@@MaryGwenDungan It was around $10 for a 2 inch spiral. It was on the "All New Ball Book of Canning & Preserving" & has 368 pages. I had them put a clear plastic page over front & back covers of the book too.
A printable book for meals and soup in jars would be a Godsend to many people especially me!! I think you are amazing and so uplifting. You are doing a great job!!! Thanks for caring. Prayers 🙏
I would add all of the food processing plant fires, cattle dying, etc. Man made crisis. Don't be scared, be prepared. Only thing I would add is to store water, or at least have ways to purify water.
There is a book by Dmitri Orlov called "Absolutely Positive" that I really like. It discusses societal collapse. But what interested me the most was his description of how common Russian people live. During the days of the Soviet Union stores were often empty. People therefore grew gardens and traded goods and food with each other. A practice which continues today. In short, cooperation and compassion are the keys to surviving tough times. And, we all know we are living under corrupt rulers. Let's build something better.
Thank you for your honest evaluation of these uncertain times! I am 79 living with one of my children since being incapacitated by arthritis, in a city near Phoenix, AZ. Finances are strained as she and her husband have crushing educational debt, and rent has skyrocketed. They are more optimistic; as I had firsthand stories of the Great Depression, and am more worried for them and my grandchildren than they are. I enjoy watching your videos immensely, you give such valuable information. Keep up your good work! My Prayers for our world continue.
Sher: Yes, my parents lived through the Depression, WWII ( and got stories from both), Korea, and Viet Nam. We do live in difficult circumstances and we are attempting to assist people be prepared for more hard times. Thanks for watching our videos. Jim
Pam, I really needed to hear your message today! That of not being fearful, or panicked, and to simply forge ahead doing what you can do to prepare for our coming challenges. Thank you! You were certainly born to be a teacher, and a fine one you made!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I needed to hear your message as well, I was panicking a bit and your message helped me to calm down and take the attitude of put one foot in front of the other and just keep moving in the right direction. Thank you!
You and Jim are God sends…you are helping so many of us. I know a while back you mentioned a series on teaching us novices how to can…I still have a slight fear about it. I would especially appreciate an in-depth series on canning meat, and yes, I know you have many videos on canning. I guess I just need a really simple, basic, step by step on canning…starting with how you prepare the jars etc and on from there. I love the concept of you developing books…I trust your judgement and scientific background above anyone else in the you tube world. Thank you for all you and Jim do for us, your loyal audience💕
Me too! My pressure canner just arrived today. I have never even canned jelly! I am watching every video you have out, but the thought of a series is wonderful.
I really appreciate your “just do it “ attitude. I’ve always said that even if we aren’t experiencing global warming, that doesn’t mean we can’t conserve and behave wisely. Just because we have abundance doesn’t mean we have to use it haphazardly. Enjoy life, prepare for the worst and expect the best. You can’t go wrong. Thank you again for your wisdom. Bless both of you.❤️
May God bless and keep you and your family Safe. You are truly a God sent helping millions of people around the world to be prepared for what is coming. Thank you 💗
I’m loving your perspective. I got into food storage in 2019 on intuition alone. My mom thought I was crazy. Then the pandemic hit and we were the only ones that seemed to be prepared. No TP shortage at my house. When the lockdown was lifted, I halfway stopped but had learned to can/dehydrate (thanks!). Then, I decided I needed to keep going. So, here we are. I could literally not go to the grocery store for at least 6 months. The garden is in even though it’s only a container garden. Nothing goes to waste. I’m only buying the loss leaders from the stores. Even learned to make yogurt in the instant pot, farmers cheese, ricotta, and my own protein powder from the leftover whey. I learn something every week, for example, the store had super cheap watermelons today so both my mom and I got one (that was the limit). One is cut up for our 4th of July celebration. BUT, I learned you can dehydrate watermelon into fruit strips as well as making watermelon rind candy. Keep learning, keep trying, stay safe. I’m looking forward to the book, thank you for giving us a jumping off point. I will definitely purchase all the books that would be of use to me, no freeze dryer here 😉.
Wow good for you!! Intuition led me to learn garden, can & food preservation all in last couple months. Intuition is very powerful & I never ignore it.
That's awesome. How do you make shelf stable protein powder from whey? Do you have to use a freeze dryer? I make my own cheddar have so much whey and would love to know how you make your powder!
Melissa, love what you are doing, it helps me feel that I am.not nuts, or so lonely. 😉 Like your perspective and resourcefullness. On the cheese related, do you have a source reference to learn from? Thank you!!!!
I would like a book on dehydrating but including tables on how to convert the dried foods into meals. And I know you don’t prefer vacuum-sealed bags but for those that can’t afford or store multiple cases of jars, can you please maybe discuss how best to keep dehydrated foods in the bags? Thank you Pam, Jim & Cindy SO much for all you do for us! I for one prefer books versus pdf or ebooks although I did buy your current book. My only printer access is at work so it’s not convenient. But I have started writing some recipes out to put into my binder I’m building based on your arsenal of videos! And then I read a viewers suggestion to upload the book to Staples & have them make me a physical cookbook!! I’ve done that before with Bible studies, don’t know why then I’d forgotten that! I absolutely love this ministry you have here & I believe with the others, you all are a GOD send!! PTL!! 🙌
Hi. Pls. Check out your local library. Tons of stuff. This channel has accurate info. I live in desert. And use a large toaster oven. Basically I will take leftovers Vegs. Cut& place on a pizza tin. And dehydrate for 3 hrs in the toaster oven & actually put it outside to continue drying. I've noticed doing this way the color of the food is brighter. Now pls. Dont do that. Do what works for you. I figure ppl. Have dried food for eons. So i don't use $$ electric.
Yes! I have used staples for yrs to print out things. I have a printer but ink and paper cost me much more than having them do it. I just put the file on a thumb drive and take to store. They are able to do most any format, and PDF is one of them.
I bought oxygen absorbers, if I don't have enough jars I just use Ziploc bags then double bag it. And I'm constantly checking them to make sure the contents are still crisp. I have a great dehydrator. I cannot afford a pressure canner but saving so hopefully have one for Christmas. And I buy what cans I can once a month. I'm in Australia, and it's getting very real, and scary
One of my favourite books is Dehydrate 2store by. Tammy Gangloff , The Ultimate Dehydrator Cookbook. She recommends vacuum sealed bags and Mylar bags then in buckets. It’s very nice to have RoseRed, I love this channel!
I feel that a dehydrating book would be helpful. Many don’t realize cooking up a big batch of rice and dehydrating a portion makes “ minute rice” so less fuel/time to prepare. Freeze drying is wonderful but the majority don’t have one. My other thought is maybe addressing how items we store can have multiple applications IE; pop corn can be ground up into cornmeal, instant potato flakes can be used as thickening agent or breading on foods to stretch flour supply, beans can be ground up and used in a multitude of ways, rice/pasta are great meal extenders. Having these types of answers in a single location could help those just starting. Thank you for your time and dedication to share wisdom and common sense to so many.
Marji: Yes, we agree. One of the things we have attempted to do this last three-and-one-half years is to apply the idea of "multiple applications" of vaious foods as you have suggested. We also understand that a lot of people do not have freeze dryers, mainly due to costs. On the other hand, a lot of stores do carry freeze dryed products as a way to reduce prep time and increase convenience (depending upon the situation--back yo your "multiple applications"). Part of that debate, even if the costs of freeze dryed foods are high, are they worth buying? A number of the points you have suggested, we have already made vidoes. Thanks for you response. Dehydrating is also another way to preserve food as well as canning. Jim
Love to hear yours and Jim's perspective. I believe you are on RUclips "for such a time as this" and I greatly appreciate all of the love and care you project as you are helping us all to know how to prepare.
I think a Soup in a jar book is an excellent idea! More on Meals in a Jar made from food storage would also be helpful. Thank you both for everything you do. I look forward to all your videos and have not been disappointed. I would also like to say I love your hair!
I would love a book on dehydrating! We can't afford a freeze dryer, but I do have a great food dehydrator. I appreciate all the hard work you put into giving us tried and tested ideas for preservation! God bless!
Love my IP Max! Only does pints, but I’m only one person so it’s perfect. Glad I got it. I thought about the Presto one that Pam recommended that did quarts. Maybe should have bought because now you can’t even get one. 🤦♀️. Blessings of abundance to you.
I love the soups in jars!!! One of my favorites is I take rice noodles, some of my dehydrated but very thinly sliced carrots, celery, onion, cabbage, broccoli, and a bouillon in a jar. I add the boiling water to the jar and close the lid. ~15 min later noodle soup in a jar, served in a jar. Convenient for lunch
Thanks, Pam! I would really like to see a book about putting together dehydrated foods to make soups and meals in a jar. It would be helpful to have all of those recipes in one place.
I have started a binder with different sections .I plan on printing off your books and and adding to the binder to keep all your recipes in one place. I would like to see one with recipes using dehydrated vegetables and stews and soups. I enjoy your your common sense and easy to understand way of explaining the scientific reason behind why you do things that you do.
Oh my goodness YES!!! Little booklets on all the subjects you talk about would be so helpful. Like you said..."we may not always have the internet" so having the info that we can print off is just what I need Thank you for all your knowledge and hard work for people to glean and grow from.
I love that you test out equipment then recommend. I purchased the Camp Chef stove and will use it as backup and outdoor kitchen. I have many of the appliances you recommended (maybe not the same brand) and love learning how to use them .. canning, dehydrating, vacuum sealing. After not opening up my new vacuum sealer for TWELVE YEARS! you've inspired me to use it and I'm using it almost daily! ❤️
This probably sounds crazy but it's something to ponder. I began intermittent fasting to lose weight. Mon-Fri I eat at 11:30 and nothing after 6:30pm. Saturday and Sunday I can have breakfast. There are some days I might eat only once a day. I might have a snack and that will hold me until the next day. I figured if there is a shortage of food, I'm ahead of the game. 🤣🤷♀️ My husband skips breakfast and walks a lot, he's lost 30lbs and I have lost 20. It's annoying he can eat junk good and lose weight but he does exercise more than me. I hate working out but I have to force myself. The fasting part is easy.
@@chrisdawson3859 same here LOL. I was doing intermitting fasting all my life and didn't know it. Didn't even knew it has "a name"! Just the way of life for me. Besides, I can live off plants and herbs too :-)
My son and I have been trying to cut back on how much we eat so our bodies won't freak out when we have very little to eat. But I have been worried abt losing weight now as I'd rather go in to the no food situation with a bit of extra weight on so it'll hold me over for longer. I don't have a lot of money, so I can't stock up, but I'm trying the best I can. My son and I have been conserving on water and utilities for awhile now, so though utility rates have gone sky high, and are expected to go higher, we already know how to conserve. These are scary times, but I have faith that the Lord will see us through, as long as we are doing all we can.
@@TRoth858 is there any way you can grow vegetables? just a 20'x30' garden patch filled my deep freezer and supplied friends and the food pantry. also, you should prepare, but always trust GOD to provide.
Soups in jars is a great idea. Ones that take minimal time to prep, especially in grid down situations, and would be a complete meal. Some of us don’t have canners, and guess what, can’t find the Nesco smart canner in stock anywhere, so vacuum sealed jar versions are so very helpful. Thank you for all you do to help others. I really believe God has given you an amazing gift and you are putting it to full use. So thankful I have found your channel. My food prep has gone to another level, to the point where I will be able to help others like you do.
Thank you so much for addressing this in a calm, rational, solution focused way. I too try to be realistic not reactive. I love how Pam’s face lit up when talking about the protein bowl book! It’s so great to see the pride, enjoyment and sisterly love in something that is helpful to so many of us. Regarding what booklets to work on - I think dry soups are great but there are good resources available already. I have a ‘Meals In Jars’ book, I’m sorry the author slips my mind. I have printed out several recipes from Pinterest and there are Facebook groups on the subject - my favorite is Chef Tess who created a cookbook for Honeyville freeze dried products. The main topics I’d like to see in booklets is things you’ll probably be addressing on your new channel … what’s needed for daily life with no electricity, with no municipal water or sewer. How do I dispose of waste? I’ve heard that sewer would come up my toilet if others in my apartment building use their toilet, is that true? I have water stored but what are my options to purify if I need to use river water? How to set up an outdoor kitchen and bathroom facilities. I’ve researched most of these things and watched videos but I’m still not very comfortable or confident. I would be more interested in a booklet on dehydrating before freeze drying. Thank you for all your help and creating a wonderful community
I deeply appreciate all you and Jim are doing to help communities and RUclips family. Your message is clear and calm. You’ve given the information with solutions and guidance. God Bless.
Just found you today. WOW are you an impressive teacher! I will be glued to your channel for awhile! I love having pdf books. And I know there is a paper shortage around the world, so having digital versions is fine with me! Thank you for all you do!
I found your channel about a month ago and it has quickly become a favorite. I love your teaching style and your prepare mentality without being doom and gloom. Right up my alley! Thank you for all you do! Both of you❤️
One of the best ways, IMO, to prepare is to build community. Creating a strong support system helps everyone, especially when things are tough. Yes, continue to prepare, learn to garden, learn skills that are helpful. Skills may be things like gardening, dehydrating food, canning food, cooking, sewing, hair cutting, first aid, reading/teaching others to read, fitness, yoga, etc. Build skills before you need them and before you need to share them with your community. Look into the concept of Transition towns, you will get a lot of good ideas about helping your community to become stronger. Stronger communities will help ease some of the fear and 'less that great' times that we may encounter. Be well. This channel is a great resource to learn skills.
During the shutdowns people had a difficult time finding jars and lids. I saw some people reusing pasta sauce jars, and buying commercial jar lids to use in pressure canning. I'd like to see a video where those lids are tested and compared to the 2 piece lids. Thank you for all you do!
I’ve been asking whether these would at least be safe for storing ghee, since no super heat is necessary, but a seal is useful. I’ve just tested a curry sauce jar that I used to store nuts or dried fruits, and the lid had been through the dishwasher multiple times. I filled it with boiling water and set the lid, and it made a seal. I’ve shaken it but it’s holding while it cools at least. I’ll try it again tomorrow. I must stay that’s encouraging, for ghee anyway. I’d like to see how these lids might do with tattler gaskets in. Another thing I read today though, commercial food jars have a thinner rim than Ball jars designed for canning, and so the seal is made across a narrower piece of glass, and won’t be as strong.
Books, books and more books. I love holding a physical book. If something is in PDF, I'll print it. It's comforting and portable! The prepper mindset is where it's at for us We live semi-rural with city access about 30 mins away. We lose power often-just a thing here. I find your advice practical and you are such a natural at sharing information. Our grown kids are getting into the mindset of being prepared. I was raised that way. The guys are taking care of the security, cars, tools, etc while the ladies are doing food and fabrics and home safety/comfort. We have budgets and say anything is doable with a little planning. It's about gaining skills be able to improvise if necessary. It is fun and helpful at the same time. Any knowledge you share is gold. I am looking forward to whatever project you take on. Really appreciate all the work you and Jim put into these videos. There are some I've viewed multiple times because they have a favorite recipe or tip. Thank you so much!
Pam, I could listen to you all day! Even if I don't happen to need to know whatever the topic is, it is SO good to listen to someone speaking good Common Sense! Thank you and Jim both for your wonderful channel and God Bless!
Thanks for all you do! You’re such a blessing! I would love to see a book with recipes that use long term food items ( sour cream powder, powdered milk, powdered cheese, powdered butter and eggs, tomato powder, dehydrated vegetables etc…) 👍💚✝️😁🌸
Hiya RoseRed, I enjoy watching your videos. A book on soup recipes and canning the soups sound great. With so much negativity on most of the RUclips channels, you are a fresh breath of air. I love your style of dealing with this coming catastrophe. Which is we know it's coming let's prepare. Sending ❤ 🙏
I would look into understanding local plants which can be eaten or used as medicine. Because learning is actually fun and it can help you forage for food. But also you can plant them and they will more likely survive as they are local to the area. I also been learning budget meals which can help stretch out food and costs. Prepping is not about doom and gloom but it is more about making insurance just incase.
I really respect your skills but especially your wisdom & common sense. I'm not far away... Northern NM, so I really relate to you. Btw, I use the same kitty litter storage containers! 😂 And yes, I shop the sales and Clearance bins!
"I am working on" getting at least a scintilla of the enthusiasm that you have for what you do! All of this plus you aren't retired yet ... Bless your hard work Pam and Jim!
Thank you so much for undertaking this task. I would love to see a booklet on bugging in during grid down times (both cool and warm weather). Could you walk us through what you would do first, things to secure property, lighting and efficiency and most of all maximizing our own personal energy levels. Times of stress bring u expected exhaustion, your tips and tricks to maximize our efforts would be so helpful.
If you guys make ANY book... I'll buy it!!! 😂😂😂 Reason being is because you two RESEARCH and verify! You don't just COPY & PASTE! So many other RUclipsrs (& Amazon books too sadly) do the latter... which is dangerous! 😱 So if you guys release a book, and I know you've both done due diligence... sign me up!!! Having printed pages in the future will be so important. And if I can have a handful of your hard-copy books... I'll be set! (through printing off PDF probably) Bless you hearts for doing this for us!!! We are going into dangerous times... and I really feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for both of your combined years of knowledge, experience, expertise and energy... this will all live on in our lives and generations to come! ❤️ Thank you!
I really would love a book on soups in jars. Pam, I want to thank you and Jim for all you do. I have learned so very much from you both and always look forward to your next video. Being prepared and self sufficient is extremely important to me and I am always looking for ways to store food and water for my family. There are 8 of us in this house that I am planning for so it is a big task that you guys have made easier for me. So again I thank you and please keep the information and how tos coming. Camie T
I have just purchased your book and thank you so much Rose and Jim (and Cindy) What an amazing book and it will be my number 1 to go to. Also purchased your freeze drying book as this is something that is so needed out in the community. Thank you again. Such an inspiration
Thank you for all your information and for being a realist. I’m trying not to panic because I’m just starting out and I feel way behind. Having more recipes for the food you have preserved is very helpful.
You are so thoughtful and kind. Recognizing that a subject or a situation is serious and needs action to be taken is very different than gloom and doom.
Gosh Jim, and Pam, How can we ask you to do anything more than you already have done. You have given the world so much love and information it's truly Gorgeous! Listening to your offer I came up with an idea. Live podcast question and answer. Zoom or other similar application. Talk about a topic and people take their notes. Didn't you reference something like this 8 or 9 months ago? I have always felt I should be paying tuition whenever I watch and listen. Your planned books and pdf's sound marvelous! I so love your hearts. Be Blessed 🙌 and stay Blessed!
Would it be possible to do a very simple seven day meal planner without using the freeze dryer? Few of us have one because of cost and other reasons. Many of us have the basics, but don’t know what to do with them. So many books call for too many spices that we just don’t have.
Thank you so very much Pam and Jim. I love your ideas on new books, I’ve already bought your protein bowls recipe book and so excited to get started on making them. I love, love, love the way you used the word realist. I’ve never really like saying “I’m a Prepper,” so now I’m calling myself a realist. That sounds so much better. Thanks again for all the hard work and time you put into helping us be ready.
Being alert and aware of your environment is a must in todays global world, and should not be viewed as gloom and doom, (although I understand what your concern is). There are many YT channels that have been predicting gloom and doom for years. The information that you and Jim present is always well presented and thought out. Knowledge is power! Thank you both!
You are awesome! I do not have family to help me get prepared, they think everything is ok! I have been so stressed in getting prepared and dehydrating, living week to week to get prepared for me and my family that thinks everything is ok. I will not leave no one behind! I will help who I can help! These videos help me get that one step closer to helping me, and others who will be in need!
I am so excited about the Trail Grazers channel! Many of us need substitutions due to allergies and diseases. I, for example, was Rx with Celiac disease back in 2019. For me wheat, rye, barley, corn, cow's milk and frankly most preservatives are out of my diet. So I've learned about arrowroot and coconut aminos to name a few, but, surely there are more foods out there to make delicious meals.
Just purchased the Protein Bowls book!! So Excited!!❤️😊 Also, excited about the corn book, a dehydrating book, and a soup book, as well!! I would love a book about bugging out and what to take! You a Fabulous video on this, but would Love a PDF to take to the store with us to gather what we might need, and to have while packing up our buckets….
I love the Protein Bowls book! I accidentally downloaded it three times, not a epub enook user! I too need pdf to have a paper copy. How can i get it? Will check the website for updates. Thank you, its easier to have print outs 3 hole punched, with pages Printed on both sides and put in page protectors! That's my method for my Six Sisters meal plan for the year. I will try for pdf and let you know if I get it.
I really like the idea of small books. Possibly think about edible plants or plants for medical purposes. We live in a hurricane damaging area and so much of what you share is relatable for a grid down situation. So thankful for your videos.

The sad thing is that nothing is being done about it. It seems as if the policies being implemented are exacerbating the situation,
It's by design.

It seems that sometimes we depend on people like Pam and Jim to do the heavy lifting for us so all we have to do is get on line listen and do what the video tells us to do without experimenting and teaching ourselves what we need to do.. My idea for a book would be how to make things from scratch like baking powder, brown sugar, yeast, cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla...things that we usually buy in a store, but can be made at home. These may be important thingss to know in the future.
Very good point, thanks!
Fry bread using least fuel to make things etc- pancakes from scratch- learn- practice now
I’m collecting cookbooks with recipes cooking from scratch
Absolutely!!! I want to make catsup myself. We have 10 tomato plants.
I just asked the same thing for the same reason! Haha

After watching your dehydrating videos, I bought a dehydrator and just dehydrated my first veggies. I did them from the frozen bags and vacuum sealed them. Made me feel good that I can do that now to prepare. A book with recipes of how to use your dehydrated food would be great.
thanks for the update on everything 😊
@@gsdalpha1358 Duh! 🤦🏻♂️ You make really good point about pre- vs post-dehydration water weight. So simple I overlooked it. Thanks!

1-using plants for minor ailments
2-meals in a jar, just dump in a pot and add water type. Maybe a few desserts too.

Hi.

Hello Carla how are you doing?
Jim

This probably sounds crazy but it's something to ponder. I began intermittent fasting to lose weight. Mon-Fri I eat at 11:30 and nothing after 6:30pm. Saturday and Sunday I can have breakfast.

Just found you today. WOW are you an impressive teacher! I will be glued to your channel for awhile! I love having pdf books. And I know there is a paper shortage around the world, so having digital versions is fine with me! Thank you for all you do!
I love your channel, your like my youtube grandma
God had a purpose for you two, and you're fulfilling it to the max.
Lonely times, sometimes, but I always feel like I'm home when I watch you . ❤
You are so kind, releasing your book as you are, is truly wonderful.
Theft stores are a great source to find books for herbs and ect I started my own book pile from thift store hope it helps
Mother Earth News -Library of books has books on medicinal herbs.
God bless you and your family ABUNDANTLY❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Reason being is because you two RESEARCH and verify! You don't just COPY & PASTE! So many other RUclipsrs (& Amazon books too sadly) do the latter... which is dangerous! 😱
So if you guys release a book, and I know you've both done due diligence... sign me up!!!
Having printed pages in the future will be so important. And if I can have a handful of your hard-copy books... I'll be set! (through printing off PDF probably)
Bless you hearts for doing this for us!!! We are going into dangerous times... and I really feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for both of your combined years of knowledge, experience, expertise and energy... this will all live on in our lives and generations to come! ❤️
Thank you!
Camie T
Me too.
I have just purchased your book and thank you so much Rose and Jim (and Cindy) What an amazing book and it will be my number 1 to go to. Also purchased your freeze drying book as this is something that is so needed out in the community. Thank you again. Such an inspiration
Ginni: Thank you for your great comments. It sounds like you will make very good use of our books. Jim
Thank you for all your information and for being a realist. I’m trying not to panic because I’m just starting out and I feel way behind. Having more recipes for the food you have preserved is very helpful.
Same here. I'm such a noob.
Im in the same boat. Trying not to over buy and panic buy but it isn't easy.
Hello Debbie how are you doing?
Just found you and I am so thankful I did. God bless you and your family.
I bought a canner and canned ground beef - my first time ever yesterday! Thank you for your wise instructions and encouragement. God bless
Good for you! I have been wanting to do this also. Got what I need to do it just have to follow through.
You are just the sweetest lady! Thank you for all you do to get the information and knowledge you have out to us all! Blessings to you! ❤️🤗
You two are awesome. It is so great to see preparedness presented in a logical, non fear mongering manner. Kudos.
I would love to see a Meals in Jars book!
I'm in the same boat. I buy rice bread but it has gone up to $8.50 PER LOAF!
I follow the No Grain No Pain philosophy. Do you know about the Gluten Free Society?
I just love you! You provide, comfort, wisdom, and joy. You make me want to listen. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and compassion for human kind ❤❤
I really like the idea of small books. Possibly think about edible plants or plants for medical purposes. We live in a hurricane damaging area and so much of what you share is relatable for a grid down situation. So thankful for your videos.
The current govts have failed us. Appreciate all you do to help us thrive.
Everything came together to form a perfect storm! Covid, conflicts, supply chain mess and political upheaval!! I pray for us all!!!
2020 was the beginning. Spawming ripples. Track on crop failures.
What is the world to do. Especially when People think it's all one man's fault. Those sane people aren't paying attention to all facets of the problem
Perfectly planned
@@jessicalee6728 Exactly.
It did not "come together", it was "put together".
@@zuster6962 given the fact we had people and politician who couldn't take a virus seriously abs actively *intentionally* worked against doctors crying pleas to help them. .. People can't agree on serious matter. So i doubt People could work together on the scale you're talking about. I think it's more half assed ideas tmare when working properly are 50/50. But stupidly cheaply never planning on what happens of there is a failure. But they'll get their money anyway
Thanks for all your practical advice, Pam and Jim! I really appreciate it. I'm a full-time RVer, so your other channel is one I'll be following with interest. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with!
Thank you! We will be glad to have you along on our Trail Grazer channel!
@@RoseRedHomestead Great name of that new channel, by the way! Very catchy.🙂
Freeze dried meals. Thank you and Jim for being such thoughtful and giving people. The world is blessed by the two of you. God bless
Thank you for helping us to prepare.
Recipes, recipes, recipes!! As many recipes as possible would be awesome. I think your videos do a great job of informing and pointing people in the right direction. But having recipes that are good for food storage and how to cook them in emergency situations would be super helpful.
Thank you for ALL the work / support you & Jim provide to those of us in search for options and knowledge 💥
The head of the world food bank has said that it will be three years of food shortages.
I truly appreciate you and your fabulous hubby's efforts to help people ❤️ . These times are filled with so much uncertainty. I was raised by a mother who lived through the depression , so nothing is wasted. I am using your guidance on how to make fresh bread, which I didn't get the opportunity to learn when I was younger. Love and hugs from Alabama.
Pam and Jim, I am so grateful for all you do to assist those of us who are working to prepare for our families’ future needs. You have been a great blessing to me in my preparedness journey. My goal is to be prepared, not scared. The books are a fabulous idea and I’m especially looking forward to the freeze drying at home one. Would it be possible to do a book based on your bread baking series? Having a hard copy of that information would be convenient should we ever be not be able to access RUclips. Happy Independence Day to you! 🇺🇸
Excellent comments, my thoughts also included bread and baking with flour/corn. Strength to persevere..
I think you two are heroic. Thank you for the "call to action" and not panic.
