I just came to a realization that I sorely left something out of this video by mistake..... I alluded to a certain coaster showing up in this list in my BEST COASTER NAMES video. That coaster was Son of Beast, the defunct wooden coaster at Kings Island. Son of Beast absolutely should have been included on here, but when I was making this video, I completely forgot about including it!
I know it starts with Hagrid and there’s a motorcycle or motorbike thrown into the title somewhere. I usually just make the other 3 words up on the spot. I figure one day I’ll stumble upon the name by random chance
I thought kiddie hawk was themed to the first flight at kitty hawk. I don't think it was supposed to be the junior version of night hawk. Also the video was INCREDIBLE! I loved it.
Thanks so much! You actually are probably right about the name! I didn't even think about that and how that is significant to that area. I just figured they were using the Nighthawk name for a kiddie coaster. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
A lot of RMCs could definitely use some better names to clarify that they are new rides. I mean, Iron Gwazi. A lot of the GP are probably just going to think that it's similar to Gwazi when it's really nothing like it.
That is a very good point! And with Iron Gwazi specifically, that is actually pretty much a ground up coaster anyway. RMC barely used any of the old Gwazi structure. I do wish many parks would have put more thought into the conversion names as well.
I think the parks have a fine line to walk when it comes to RMC remodeling of their old wooden coasters. Even though most of the wooden coasters that have received the RMC I-Box treatment had fallen out of favor due to roughness and being outdated, the fact is that a lot of them still had fan bases with a great deal of nostalgia. In general I think wooden coasters tend to make people more nostalgic than steel coasters and people feel sad to see them go. I was very disappointed when SFMM closed Colossus and I had not yet ridden an RMC hybrid when they announced that it would be redone in steel. The original Colossus was one of the most iconic wooden coasters of all time and a serious favorite among SFMM fans, even up to the end. But keeping the white structure, the support system, the overall appearance of the layout (despite the obvious changes) and the modified name makes it feel like Colossus never left. It just got an amazing upgrade. I know a lot of people have felt similarly about other wooden coasters like Cyclone, Georgia Cyclone, Texas Giant and even to some extent Rattler. Younger enthusiasts often only rode these coasters when they were rough and were just glad to see the RMC treatment. But for those of us who grew up long before RMC we still have nostalgia. And that goes for the GP who frequent a nearby park as well as enthusiasts who've ridden a lot of these older woodies. Retaining part of the old name is done to make everyone happy about not fully losing a beloved coaster. The parks are the ones who make this decision and it's no accident that so many of them receive modified versions of the original name, just as the coasters are modified versions of the old coaster. Honestly, I think part of the overall charm of RMC redos is that in a way they let us keep old nostalgic coasters that were destined for the scrap bin but we also get a new coaster that will be incredibly thrilling. We never have to fully say goodbye.
Totally agree. Iron, Steel, and Twisted are all lazy. Twisted Colossus is only one that should have gotten the "Twisted" added because Colossus was such an iconic coaster. I don't know why they didn't go with something like Gwazi Unleashed. I do like Iron Rattler and Wicked Twister but all the other converted RMCs are lazily named. Storm Chaser is just an okay name. The others should have just been renamed something else entirely. Steel Vengeance is just a dumb name. No roller coasters need to be named after the materials they are made of except for Steel Eel because it rhymes. List of better names for all the other US RMCs: New Texas Giant - Longhorn Express Wicked Cyclone - Typhoon or F5 Twisted Cyclone - Typhoon or F5 (whichever Wicked Cyclone doesn't take) Joker - Joker can stay because Six Flags Storm Chaser - It is better than most so it can stay Steel Vengeance - Coyote Run or Coyote Express, Revolver, Quickdraw Express, High Noon. Iron Gwazi - Gwazi Unleashed or Fang
Zac G Rattler and Texas Giant were always rough as hell. Texas Cyclone At Astroworld was the best woody in Texas I had ever ridden until Boardwalk Bullet came around. Most of my rides on Texas Cyclone came in the 80s and 90s, so I don’t know how it was running at the end of it’s life. I’ll always get angry when I think about Astroworld getting shut down by Six Flags to sell the land and then they never were able to sell it.
Oh trust me, you are definitely not! I actually definitely hated it at first. I must say though, I now can't decide whether I like it or not. That's why it's not on either my best or worst name list 😂
No, I agree. I think parks sometimes try way too hard to relate the ride names to either the theme of the park or whatever product it's trying to sell.
Great video and Tantrum is definitely one of the worst names out there. Other horrible names: - Creep Caterpillar - Python in Bamboo Forest - Spinning Porcelain - Angry Birds - Car Fly on Rail - Circus Clown - Death Train - Dizzy Love & Whirling Passion - T3 - Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure - Dream Hunters Society - Dum-Dum - Express Station - Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster - Hand Roller Coaster - High Speed Round Trip - Inflaming Beatles - Pieces of 8 - Project 1 - Rail Chaser - Scary Toys Factory - Soaring Dragon and Dancing Phoenix - SpeedSnake FREE - Squal8 - Stress Express - Surf’s Up! Duck Duck Goose - The Walking Dead The Ride - and last but not least: Yolo Works
Theres a coaster in Colombia called "The Coca-Cola Coaster" and its red.... thats it, to me its both bad named and its real bad (its like a knock-off arrow corkscrew but rougher than the originals)
I think that's different because coca cola is paying for that ride to be themed to it. Like the previous Pepsi Max in Blackpool pleasure beach. You can't really knock points for a sponsorship
Tantrum sounds sort of menacing if you aren't thinking about what the word means. Honestly, it sounds like it could be a superhero name. But when you remember the meaning it becomes really dumb. You may as well call it the Spoiled Brat Coaster.
My least favorite is Judge Roy Scream at my home park, SFOT. I understand the context but it still sounds stupid. Honestly, I actually like New Texas Giant.
I’m pretty sure kiddy hawk is actually a play on kitty hawk, the place in North Carolina where th Wright brothers flew the first airplane, to tie in with carowinds’s Carolina themes.
I grew up in the Charlotte area and had season passes to Carowinds every year, and I’m so incredibly happy that Carowinds made this list not once but twice! Lol. They have bad names everywhere at that park.
I agree it's awkward to not have the possessive on Riddler, but from what I understand it's part of the DC licensing deal where they can no longer use possessive names. That's why the most recent additions have all been things like Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster, Catwoman Whip, etc. I actually like the Mind Eraser name since it perfectly describes how violent the coaster is.
Oh man ok so 3 names here i disagree with, Kiddy Hawk is an awesome play on words. Hurler is a really cool name for a coaster, and Tantrum is fine no way #1 worst. Scream shoulda been more than an honorable mention
I know one Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter name that’s very similar to your #1 on your list. It’s called Rage. Built next to one of the longest piers in the world. And also in the same park that had the very bizarre Guinness record of “most naked people on a rollercoaster.”
The worst one I can think of is what they renamed mindbender (which is a great name) at SFOG to. This season it will now have a superhero tacked on to it in true six flags fashion and it will be called THE RIDDLER MINDBENDER. They also didn’t as the “s” to the end of “riddler” like SFNE.
It is. It just makes zero sense. Valravn makes sense because that is the traditional spelling of the creature from Danish folklore. I am not a fan of the Valravn name though either.
I agree with you on Incredicoaster (to an extent). I disagree with you on California Screamin'. It was a good name, it was a good pun, and it was an all-around better experience than Incredicoaster.
I just don't think any of those are that bad (well maybe TROP). Apple Zapple is just a fun zany name as I see it, Mystic Timbers isn't the greatest but it's not bad imo and Racer 75s only offense is being a generic rename of a coaster that once had a unique name.
Coaster Daddy Tantrum is, I think, a pretty fun and unique name. I mean in definition, a tantrum is a violent outburst of anger. I feel like that fits the title for a compact ride like a Eurofighter
Fair enough. It definitely does fit the ride experience, and I actually had that exact thought while editing the video! It's an incredibly short ride (20 seconds drop to brake). I still can't say I like the name at all though.
The WORST coaster names in my opinion: 1. Mind Eraser at various low-tier Six Flags parks. They’re literally admitting that the ride (mostly a Vekoma SLC) is a painful experience. It may not have your mind “erased” but it’s admitting that you will experience atrocious headbanging. 2. Roller Coaster at Lagoon. There are of course plenty of super-small amusement parks that have their coaster named “Roller Coaster”, but since Lagoon has grown in over a century since this ride first opened in 1921 (Lagoon first opened in 1886) with newer coasters surrounding it, it makes LITERALLY ZERO SENSE for it to continue being called Roller Coaster! Why not rename it something more original, like say, Thunderbolt? Or maybe High Roller? Sure those names may sound generic, but they’re a HELL lot better than just “Roller Coaster”! 3. InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. While this ride may be amazing and all, the name just doesn’t seem to fit in with the theme. InvadR? That sounds more like a name for a Sci-Fi themed ride rather than one themed to Vikings. Calling it Invader wouldn’t really do it justice either, so I think that Viking Trail would’ve been a bit better. 4. Goudurix at Parc Asterix. This one is a Vekoma MK-1200. For those of you that don’t know, the word “Goudurix” is literally French for “Danger”, so much like the SLC’s named Mind Eraser, they too are admitting that this ride will give you a bad experience, especially with the headbanging. I hear they had to get rid of the Arrow trains the coaster originally used and have them replaced by ones built by Vekoma, and even re-track the ride to improve rider comfort. 5. Riddler Revenge at Six Flags New England. This one I really don’t get. The B&M Stand-up coaster at Magic Mountain is called Riddler’s Revenge, so that one is good, but for New England, they renamed their Vekoma SLC Mind Eraser to a not-as-terrible-but-still-just-terrible name, RIDDLER Revenge. I don’t get it. Why leave out the apostrophe s? It’d make more sense to put it in, but no, they just left it out, like, why? It just makes it sound like it’s not gonna be about the Batman villain having his revenge, but more about a Riddler Revenge, as in having revenge against your best friend by making him or her solve riddles. It just doesn’t make any sense! Oh well, at least it’s better than MiNd eRaSeR… 6. Hurler at Carowinds. There was also one at Kings Dominion but that one was given the RMC Treatment and is now Twisted Timbers. However, the one at Carowinds still remains as is. There was a time when the name made sense, when it was themed to Wayne’s World when the park was owned by Paramount. But after Cedar Fair purchased the park in 2006, the Wayne’s World theming was removed but the coaster still kept the name. Now it’s basically themed to… well, basically vomiting, which is pretty much a normal thing for after having ridden a roller coaster, although there are ways to overcome it. 7. SCREAM! at Six Flags Magic Mountain. A clone of Bizarro (Now Medusa again as of 2022) at Great Adventure, and THIS is the best name they can come up with for this ride? Scream??? That’s another normal thing for roller coasters, much like vomiting is! IDK what better names they would’ve come up with, but SCREAM! sounds just friggin stupid. They literally themed it to people screaming. Even after the ride was repainted and the area of the park it was located in was re-themed to the Screampunk District for Colossus’ transformation into Twisted Colossus in 2015, this B&M Floorless coaster still has, and is probably forever cursed with that stupid and uninspired name. 8. California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure. This coaster, while it now goes by the name of the Incredicoaster, had a somewhat similar name to that of the B&M Floorless Coaster at SFMM, however with a slight difference, as it was once themed to the state of California, which is where it is obviously located. I know it was supposed to be themed to old-fashioned Wooden Roller Coasters on the beach, but there are problems with this: first off, the coaster itself is a STEEL Launched coaster built by Intamin, and second, PARADISE PIER (now Pixar Pier) IS NOT A BEACH! And I don’t have to be an imagineer to figure that out. The way I see it, they themed the coaster to screaming at the top of their lungs in the Golden State. If you want to know what it’s like to ride an old timeless woodie on a beach, I’d suggest you go to Coney Island and ride the Cyclone. That, or go on the Giant Dipper at Belmont Park. 9. Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia. This ride originally opened as Ninja, but in 2016 it has since been repainted and given new trains, as well as a new theme, but the name they gave it is just flat out dumb. Ninja wasn't really a bad name, considering how it beat you up because of the hard over-the-shoulder restraints, but Blue Hawk??? Really? Never in my life have I ever seen or heard of a blue hawk. If anything, it might be the name of a random mythological creature Six Flags stole from Cedar Fair, or a certain US Army fighter jet nobody knows about, but really I'd like to think that one of the people working at Six Flags was walking along the street one day and witnessed a graffiti artist have too much fun with a can of spray paint and accidentally got some of it on a random bird (presumably a hawk) and thought "Woah, did that guy just get blue spray paint on that hawk? Let's make that the new name of the coaster!". I don't know, I just can't seem to justify Six Flags for their decision on giving it such an idiotic name. Oh well, at least there's no headbanging. 10. Tantrum at Six Flags Darien Lake. Oh boy, I saved the best for last. This coaster was the newest to be added to the park in a decade since Motocoaster, and THIS is the best name they can come up with?! TANTRUM?! Are you serious? I mean yes the ride has the same layout as Iron Shark at Galveston Island Pleasure Pier in Texas, but "Tantrum" has to be the most STUPIDEST name for a roller coaster I have EVER heard in my entire life! The only thing I can think of whenever I hear the word "Tantrum" is a young little boy throwing a fit at a Wal-Mart (or whatever grocery store exists, idk) because his daddy wouldn't let him buy any sweeties. I mean sure, it may be showing off those Nickelodeon-ish colors, with green track and orange supports, I mean anybody can associate those colors with Nickelodeon, especially children. Even the logo looks like it may have been drawn by a 6-year old, but still, that doesn't change the fact that this is arguably the worst coaster name in existence. I would've preferred something along the lines of "Slimeball" or "T-Force" and well, I don't know what better names would suit the ride, but still, ANYTHING is better than "Tantrum"!
Oddly, I really like Incredicoaster. It’s not the most intense ride ever, but it’s so long, and has several great moments. Your biggest drop comes in the middle of the ride, which is awesome. The launch is pretty fun too due to the image of Dash running full speed next to you!
Yeah that's perfectly valid. I realize most people, including myself, would typically just say Invader, and by including it in this list is just being nitpicky and calling out the name for what it is lol
The fact that two Darien Lake coasters made this list, not to mention at number one does not surprise me at all lmao. I agree with you wholeheartedly on Tantrum though... When they announced it I was like wtf kind of name is this I hate it
I have not one, but FIVE names that are the worst for me. All the rollercoasters at Hard Rock Park/Freestyle Music Park, when the names got changed when it was FMP. There was Hang Ten, Iron Horse, Round About, Soak’d, and Time Machine. They sound very embarrasing, and cringy.
Steel Vengeance is a pretty bad name if you ask me. I just can’t get the image of an 80’s Hair Metal Band out of my head every time I hear or say it. It’s also my favorite coaster, so I think about it/talk about it a lot....and then visions of Aqua Net; spandex and leather start creeping in.
The Kiddy Hawk ride is not named to be Nighthawks little brother, its actually named after where the Wright Brothers first flew in North Carolina - Kitty Hawk. North Carolina license plates say "First in Flight" and with the theme of Carowinds being the Carolinas, its actually a very fitting name.
What the Darien Lake marketing team could have thought of is that if a child is put on Tantrum but is scared of the ride then he/she would have a tantrum.
I agree that Kiddy Hawk is an awful name, but it's not named after Nighthawk. It's a play on Kitty Hawk, the North Carolina coastal town that became world famous for being where the Wright brothers had their first flight.
Well I guess everyone has their own opinion, but I definitely disagree with many of these. -InvadR - Those of us that voted on the name were happy with the results - it was the coolest of the choices. The creative spelling captures the 'Viking' theming and makes the name and the look of the entrance sign look cool. -Whistle Punk Chaser also captures the spirit of the theming at Dollywood and I think is a cool name fo a kiddie ride. -Kiddie Hawk is a nice nod to Kitty Hawk North Carolina as Carowinds prides itself on it's park representing both North and South Carolina. -Mind Eraser - I've never been on a coaster with that name but I kind of like it- it's like you're being warned that you're going to 'lose your mind' on this ride. -I also like the name 'Tantrum'. It's like the ride is going to go out of control and in a sense have a temper tantrum. The name sounds cool to me. -The Hurler originally did have really cool and funny theming back when the entire area was themed to the movie 'Wayne's World'. It was never an intimidating or scary coaster so it was fun to watch the funny movie-based videos while waiting in line. I miss those days. -My least favorite coaster name is 'Back Lot Stunt coaster'. It's a very boring and unoriginal name that replaced the original name 'Italian Stunt coaster' based on the action/thriller movie. The one at KD has really gone downhill. First, the audio was taken out. Then all the special effects (rising helicopter, fire, etc.) were taken out. I agree with the others you mentioned. ...Yeah, 'Riddler Revenge' just doesn't sit with me well without the " 's". *All opinions are valid though. These are just mine.
I don’t like the name for Gatekeeper at Cedar Point. I get that is goes over the front gate of the park, but it just makes me think of Ghostbusters and they don’t even have a Ghostbusters theme at Cedar Point. Hey, at least it isn’t called Magnum XL 200 which is another roller coaster in the same park. That ride’s name just sounds like the name for a condom.
While I get that Kings Dominion was bringing back much of Candy Apple Grove's original theming, I thought that Ricochet's rename to "Apple Zapple" was quite stupid. It's like they were trying to go generic with the apple theme but couldn't find a jazzy enough name, so they just sloppily made up a word to rhyme with it. The name "Ricochet" was perfectly fitting for the ride's dynamics! Also, there's a roller coaster at BonBon Land in Denmark whose name translates to "Dog Fart Coaster". There's even a statue of a farting dog within the ride's structure! Then again, while still an awful name, I've read that BonBon Land as a whole is quite odd.
The dog fart coaster is legendary. There's a reason I didn't include it on either my best or worst names 😉 I certainly respect your opinion with Apple Zapple. I really don't mind it though.
@@coasterdaddy7123 thanks for addressing....I actually regret saying anything because I am tired of peeps calling each other out Anyways...I love the channel, carowinds is my next park to visit in august, just got back from Lagoon last weekend We can finally ride again and I hope you have a great summer
I’m just sad that two coasters from Carowinds are on this list, even if Hurler deserves, though Kiddy Hawk is based on the actual place Kitty Hawk on the NC coast, where the Wright brothers did their first flight.
Kiddie hawk is a great name. Themed after Kitty Hawk in OBX. Also in NC. First flight. Plus it’s probably most young kids first inverted coaster. Double entendres. Cmon lol
I would submit "Rougarou" at cedar point, if only cause it's a pain both to say and spell, and Mantis was way, way cooler, imo. Also, very few of the park guests actually know what a rougarou is without the aid of google, and I'm not one of that number. There's no related themeing, either.
At first, I didn't think that Tantrum was a bad name, but since I saw this video, you convinced me. Like you said, the first thing that comes to mind is a stomping, frowning baby having a temper tantrum.
Worst coaster names? Let’s see: go go sneaker, Havoc in heaven palace (what coaster through the clouds was supposed to be named before they changed it), Gliding dragon and sliding Dragon (Both names of multiple powered roller coasters throughout China), soaring dragon and dancing Phoenix, Pine forest flying mouse, and train type spin trochlear. Oh Chyna what are we going to do with you ,naming all your coaster such in sane names!
From what I understand WB will not allow possessives to anything new DC related. Allegedly it is easier to translate between languages because English is the only one that uses 's as a possessive. Even though the rule is in place due to movies, television, and comic books, it also applies to rides as well. A few rotten names I want to throw out are: Boomerang Coast to Coaster-I know Boomerang is a generic name but Coast to Coaster is cringe worthy. Wild Lightning-This one is at Lake Winnie. Originally it was Wild Thing but then Valleyfair had something to say about it as a result it was renamed Wild Lightning. Hypersonic XLC-I know it is defunct but I always thought this name sounded more like a vacuum cleaner model than an intense rollercoaster. XLR-8-This one was at Astroworld Sky Princess-This is at Dutch Wonderland and is now called the Kingdom Coaster.
I think the name "Kitty Hawk" is suppose to pay homage to the town of Kitty Hawk North Carolina, where the Wright Brothers first flight was in 1903. Also Fun Fact: The US Navy had a vessel named "USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63)", she was a 1,068ft long Kitty Hawk Class Aircraft Carrier, and operated from 1961 until 2009, she was the last conventional powered Aircraft Carrier in the USN from when USS John F. Kennedy was decommissioned in 2007 until she was decommissioned in 2009. She currently resides in Puget Sound and is awaiting dismantling. Also just my opinion I kind of like the name "Steel Curtain" I just HATE the theme. Now it was themed to like a "Dystopian post Nuclear War Europe (Cold War era)", I think the name "Steel Curtain" could work, but sports themed rides are even worse than comic book themed rides...just my opinion. [Edit] sports not spots LOL! stupid typo. :P
Oof at SFNE being mentioned twice. Not that its not well earned of course. Riddler Revenge always annoyed me, they renamed it when I worked there and I could never say the name right. It just feels like a typo. And Gotham City Gauntlet is just such a mouthful, even the shortened version. I always stumble when trying to say it.
I agree with Riddler Revenge! Grinds against my brain! Kiddie Hawk refers to Kitty Hawk where the Wright brothers flew thee first successful aircraft designs in North Carolina. It’s a reference to local history as well as a nod to a kiddie night hawk. This name is actually rather brilliant. Whistle Punk, and Chaser are job titles for loggers. I suppose by combining them into a phrase the park kept the name on theme while sounding like it has action using “Chaser” to sound more like a verb. I don’t like the name much either, though. Invadr is spelled strange, but it should just be pronounced “Invader”. I can’t rationalize the spelling, but the way you said it made you sound like a pirate. Yarrrr. Haha. “Go bananas” is vernacular for “go crazy”. I think it fits the theme of the park and vibe of the ride. I like the EqWalizer name. A different spelling doesn’t mean a different pronunciation. Eek WALL izer. Haha. You are a very big grammar/spelling guy it seems. I am too but I set that aside in the playful name of parks and attractions. Tantrum is your worst name? hilarious. Your “boohoo” sound cracked me up. Haha. I do not like any of the “hawk” names at Cedar Fair parks. Thunder hawk, night hawk, steel hawk, fire hawk.... none of it works for me except for Kiddie Hawk. I’m hoping they pump the brakes and don’t take the “Striker” and “Timbers” names any further in the chain. I am also not a fan of “golden lasso coaster”.
I actually like the name Incredicoaster because in the first Incredibles movie Bob's car is named the Incredimobile, so I've always seen Incredicoaster as fitting for a coaster themed to the movie. I can see why you and others would dislike the name though. Also, Tantrum may not be the best name but in my opinion it's better than naming it Eurofighter. I agree with most of everything else. Especially EqWalizer and InvadR. As much as I like puns, they don't belong in coaster names, and InvadR is just... why??
I can't say I agree with a lot of these names (Mind Eraser and InvadR to name a few) but I will say I do agree with Incredicoaster a lot (mostly because I liked it better when it was California Screamin' personally). One ride that confuses me a bit is Dragon Mountain at Marineland in Canada. Dragon Mountain sounds like the name for a dark ride (like Wonder Mountain's Guardian at Canada's Wonderland). Why not just call it Dragon?
Tbh I kind of like the name Tantrum. Definitely not the best but I don’t think it’s the worst at all. I guess it reminds me of Tarantula a little bit and I think that’s an amazing name!!
Coaster Daddy I just saw that it must have been closed when I visited. I do not remember that area being open. I believe they were doing maintenance there because the new area had just opened
@@coasterdaddy7123 yeah. Apparently the trains are made by the same company that makes those butterfly kiddie shuttles in Germany. I'm hoping some US parks take note cause it would be a godsend on some of these outdated models. So far they've only done refurbishments for vekoma rides but I'm assuming they could tackle an Arrow seeing how the track type/trains are very similar. I will say I'm not sure exactly how comfortable the lap bars are, seeing as they're all metal without much padding, but I'd imagine it to be favorable to the hard ostrs on most american arrows today.
I didn't put Valravn because I don't find it downright awful. Plus it's actually spelled correctly. It's a creature from Danish folklore. I'd have to respectfully disagree with InvadR being creative. To me it's just an awkward misspelling of what would've been a pretty good name. I'll give you the others though. As much as I don't like them still, they definitely are creative 🙂
Tatsu at Magic Mountain really just screws with me since while yes there's an older Japanese word that does mean dragon, it... is not really used that much when referring to dragons... tatsu usually just means "stand" or "standing"... And I just can't think of anything else... When I first heard about it I was like "Oh it's a stand-up coaster?" and was really confused hearing it was a flying coaster. So yeah... "Stand", bad name for a coaster.
@@coasterdaddy7123 I wasn't trying to change anyone's opinions, I was just saying my personal thought that I can't hear about it and think anything but it's called "Stand" lol
I think all those DC Comics themed rides get their own special hall of shame when it comes to names. Six Flags is really beating a dead horse with those names
Redo the video, and add a voice over
Voiceover??? I already have a voiceover on the video as I do most of them. I'm guessing you mean redo it by adding me talking about it?
@@coasterdaddy7123 Yeah sorry
Hi daddy
Hello
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure just took a huge sigh of relief
I considered that one lol
I know it starts with Hagrid and there’s a motorcycle or motorbike thrown into the title somewhere. I usually just make the other 3 words up on the spot. I figure one day I’ll stumble upon the name by random chance
And the fact they thought it was a good replacement for the most unique pair of coasters...
CoasterMan Thier making up for it with the insanity that is Velicoaster!!
They should have named it Hagrid's Magical Adventure at least
I thought kiddie hawk was themed to the first flight at kitty hawk. I don't think it was supposed to be the junior version of night hawk. Also the video was INCREDIBLE! I loved it.
Thanks so much! You actually are probably right about the name! I didn't even think about that and how that is significant to that area. I just figured they were using the Nighthawk name for a kiddie coaster. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
I concur!
I think kiddie hawk is a great name considering the Carolina theme
Kiddie Hawk is an awesome name for the area!
Yes you are right it is named after the kitty hawk nc, where the wright brothers first flew their first airplane.
I have a personal hatred of Rougarou because I really like that ride but I feel stupid everytime I say it
I thought I was the only one 😂
It’s a unique name. It’s not an English in case you didn’t know. I also like the ride. I’m not saying you’re stupid for that opinion.
I like to call the ride "Kangaroo" instead
"Kangaroo" I like it!!! 😁
Kangarougarou Coming Soon to a Cedar Point near you!
List of better names for all the other US RMCs:
New Texas Giant - Longhorn Express
Wicked Cyclone - Typhoon or F5
Twisted Cyclone - Typhoon or F5 (whichever Wicked Cyclone doesn't take)
Joker - Joker can stay because Six Flags
Storm Chaser - It is better than most so it can stay
Steel Vengeance - Coyote Run or Coyote Express, Revolver, Quickdraw Express, High Noon.
Iron Gwazi - Gwazi Unleashed or Fang
Iron Gwazi is an atrocious name
Zac G Rattler and Texas Giant were always rough as hell. Texas Cyclone At Astroworld was the best woody in Texas I had ever ridden until Boardwalk Bullet came around. Most of my rides on Texas Cyclone came in the 80s and 90s, so I don’t know how it was running at the end of it’s life. I’ll always get angry when I think about Astroworld getting shut down by Six Flags to sell the land and then they never were able to sell it.
Riddler Revenge has always bugged me too
Really? I'm glad it's not just me lol I did feel like I was being over dramatic about how it annoys me, but it does, it sounds dumb lol
Coaster Daddy It leaves me feeling like something is missing every time I hear it and it bugs the crap out of me 😂
@@coastercraziness YES! Precisely!
YES! YES YES YES! That annoys me so much. It's written like a name: riddler revenge. Revenge, riddler.
I think I'm the only enthusiast who finds Candymonium to be an utterly godawful name lmfao
I have no strong feelings one way or the other
I’m surprised that Apple Zapple didn’t make this list.
Great video and Tantrum is definitely one of the worst names out there.
Other horrible names:
- Creep Caterpillar
- Python in Bamboo Forest
- Spinning Porcelain
- Angry Birds
- Car Fly on Rail
- Circus Clown
- Death Train
- Dizzy Love & Whirling Passion
- T3
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Dream Hunters Society
- Dum-Dum
- Express Station
- Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster
- Hand Roller Coaster
- High Speed Round Trip
- Inflaming Beatles
- Pieces of 8
- Project 1
- Rail Chaser
- Scary Toys Factory
- Soaring Dragon and Dancing Phoenix
- SpeedSnake FREE
- Squal8
- Stress Express
- Surf’s Up! Duck Duck Goose
- The Walking Dead The Ride
- and last but not least: Yolo Works
Holy crap you deserve the award! 😅 Those are some serious dumpster fire names there! 🔥 You did your research lol
Coaster Daddy I actually want to share these names in a video now, some of them are absolutely horrendous 😂.
Car fly on rail LMAOOOOOO
In rct3, I named my kiddie coaster Pee Wee Slider.
A lot of those are translated from Chinese so they probably sound better in the native language
Wasn't kiddy hawk themed to the Wright brothers at kitty hawk? I actually think it's pretty clever.
That completely slipped my mind and someone else pointed it out already!
I’m near Carowinds and Kitty Hawk isn’t a good coaster, but the name makes sense, but it’s fine.
Candymonium annoys me so much lol
You know....... I really hated it at first, but now I'm not sure if I like it or not lol
Should have been called Chocolate Rain
@@merlinthebikewizard4392 Haha that's a good one!
FrictionDi2 And they’d play the song on the lift hill! That would be glorious!
Theres a coaster in Colombia called
"The Coca-Cola Coaster"
and its red.... thats it, to me its both bad named and its real bad (its like a knock-off arrow corkscrew but rougher than the originals)
I think that's different because coca cola is paying for that ride to be themed to it. Like the previous Pepsi Max in Blackpool pleasure beach. You can't really knock points for a sponsorship
At least it isn’t The Pepsi Coaster
Freestyle should be the name of a Coca Cola themed coaster
these names aren't MENACING enough
Damn right!
Tantrum sounds sort of menacing if you aren't thinking about what the word means. Honestly, it sounds like it could be a superhero name. But when you remember the meaning it becomes really dumb. You may as well call it the Spoiled Brat Coaster.
@@zacg_ Yeah I tried to really think of it like that, but it still doesn't sway me one bit lol
5:39 the way he says "Go Bananas" made me laugh out loud xD
😅😄
My least favorite is Judge Roy Scream at my home park, SFOT. I understand the context but it still sounds stupid. Honestly, I actually like New Texas Giant.
I don't like JRS either lol I actually did briefly consider that name.
I love the names “Scream” and “Whistle Punk Chaser” and “InvadR” and I love “Tantrum” so much, it sounds so cool.
It's all good! I'm still not a fan of them though lol
Very menacing
I’m pretty sure kiddy hawk is actually a play on kitty hawk, the place in North Carolina where th Wright brothers flew the first airplane, to tie in with carowinds’s Carolina themes.
I grew up in the Charlotte area and had season passes to Carowinds every year, and I’m so incredibly happy that Carowinds made this list not once but twice! Lol. They have bad names everywhere at that park.
Haha nice!
That's a licensing thing? Wow! Fair enough with Mind Eraser!
Oh man ok so 3 names here i disagree with, Kiddy Hawk is an awesome play on words. Hurler is a really cool name for a coaster, and Tantrum is fine no way #1 worst. Scream shoulda been more than an honorable mention
Incredicoaster sounds more like a nickname an enthusiast would give to a project before it’s announced than an actual coaster name
2:54 they don't call you a coaster DAD for nothing
Hahaha touche!
If Chinese coasters were included, this list would look very different 😂
You're right. Honestly there were just way too many for me to include. I could've done a whole video just on that!
I know one Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter name that’s very similar to your #1 on your list. It’s called Rage. Built next to one of the longest piers in the world. And also in the same park that had the very bizarre Guinness record of “most naked people on a rollercoaster.”
😵😱🙃
*Rita has entered the chat*
I'll give the name "mind eraser" some credit; given that most of the coasters with this name are SLCs it does perfectly describe the experience.
Touche 😅
EqWalizer I think it's because there's audio in the trains.
Yes I know. I heard about that 🙃😑
Im pretty sure "InvadR" is still pronounced invader. Just like how "Valravn" is pronounced "Valraven."
It is. It just makes zero sense. Valravn makes sense because that is the traditional spelling of the creature from Danish folklore. I am not a fan of the Valravn name though either.
yaa
I agree with you on Incredicoaster (to an extent). I disagree with you on California Screamin'. It was a good name, it was a good pun, and it was an all-around better experience than Incredicoaster.
Alright I'll say it, how was Apple Zapple or Racer 75 not on this list? Or TimberHawk: Ride of Prey? Or even Mystic Timbers (I love the ride though).
The WORST coaster names in my opinion:
Oh well, at least it’s better than MiNd eRaSeR…
9:34 is what y'all came for 😂
no
I personally dislike Adrenaline Peak, it sound like a park/area name as opposed to a coaster name.
I agree!!! That's a good (bad?) One
Coaster Daddy: Incredicoaster is too obvious and uninspired sounding.
Universal: *sweats profusely*
You forgot about mine blower!
I don't think that one's bad.
It may not sound bad, but the name doesn't make sense, I mean it is weird to blow up a mine😂
Apple Zapple
I just realized the genius of the name Tantrum- toddlers are small with a lot of energy/ they pack a big punch, and so is the coaster.
This is pure gold I was dying
Oddly, I really like Incredicoaster. It’s not the most intense ride ever, but it’s so long, and has several great moments. Your biggest drop comes in the middle of the ride, which is awesome. The launch is pretty fun too due to the image of Dash running full speed next to you!
Nice! It does look like it would be a very fun ride! Maybe I would enjoy it a lot more than I anticipate though 🙂
Isn't there a coaster named Takis at a Six Flags? How did THAT not make the list!
Lol no there actually is not a coaster named Takis..... surprisingly.
I like Flight Deck and Steel Curtain, and I say that as a Steeler's hater.
I'm a Steelers fan and hate it.
InvadR really isn't that bad since most people pronounce it as Invader anyway, although it is a little stupid, I guess they wanted to be original
Ooh one you missed is wild and wooly toboggan that coaster is at Little Americka
9:33 best part of the video by far. 🤣
Kitty Hawk might not be a great name, but its better than the ride itself.
5 worst coaster names
5. Wild beast
4. Trailblazer
3. Pony express
2. Scream
1. Medusa steel coaster
Hahaha!!! 😂👌 Thanks for sharing!
Tbh now that you say it Steel Vengeance does sound like an 80s heavy metal band
The Kiddy Hawk ride is not named to be Nighthawks little brother, its actually named after where the Wright Brothers first flew in North Carolina - Kitty Hawk. North Carolina license plates say "First in Flight" and with the theme of Carowinds being the Carolinas, its actually a very fitting name.
Yep many others have told me lol there is no theming or signage at all to demonstrate this on the ride so I didn't know.
What the Darien Lake marketing team could have thought of is that if a child is put on Tantrum but is scared of the ride then he/she would have a tantrum.
If a ride is called Eurofighter, it better be themed to the plane.
Yep. Much better to than Tantrum lol
it is actualy invad RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
It's a capital R LOL
I agree that Kiddy Hawk is an awful name, but it's not named after Nighthawk. It's a play on Kitty Hawk, the North Carolina coastal town that became world famous for being where the Wright brothers had their first flight.
What about “Flight of the Himalayan Eagle Music Roller Coaster”
It's awful......man is it awful 🤪
I think it is named kitty hawk because kitty hawk is a place in North Carolina but I could be wrong..
Candymonium found safe & shook
There's a reason I didn't include it on either my best or worst names 😉
I certainly respect your opinion with Apple Zapple. I really don't mind it though.
Very disappointed that you did not touch on the significance of the name kiddy hawk
That pays tribute to aviation in America and the world

@@coasterdaddy7123 thanks for addressing....I actually regret saying anything because I am tired of peeps calling each other out

We can finally ride again and I hope you have a great summer
Thanks so much! 🙂 That's awesome! I definitely can't wait to get to Cedar Point and Kings Island which should be opening very soon!
@@coasterdaddy7123 I went to cedar point for 2 days last summer....it truly is AMAZING
I'm so fortunate to have it as my home park 😍
I’m just sad that two coasters from Carowinds are on this list, even if Hurler deserves, though Kiddy Hawk is based on the actual place Kitty Hawk on the NC coast, where the Wright brothers did their first flight.
scream would be a good name on an Intamin strata
Perhaps...
I think Yukon striker was a worst name at Canada’s wonderland
I kind of feel indifferent about it. I hated it at first when it was announced.
I actually like the name Whistle Punk Chaser
Kiddie hawk is a great name. Themed after Kitty Hawk in OBX. Also in NC. First flight. Plus it’s probably most young kids first inverted coaster. Double entendres. Cmon lol
InvadR and Invader are pronounced the same. Just spelled differently. Like Xcelerator
It makes sense for Xcelerator, at least somewhat. InvadR is just.....why??? Lol
Haha 😂
A few rotten names I want to throw out are:
Boomerang Coast to Coaster-I know Boomerang is a generic name but Coast to Coaster is cringe worthy.
XLR-8-This one was at Astroworld
Sky Princess-This is at Dutch Wonderland and is now called the Kingdom Coaster.
Oh yes, good selections! Thanks for the info about the possessives! Some others did say they thought it may be due to licensing 😊
I get that there's no Chinese coasters but I have a suggestion for that video:
OCT Thrust SSC 1000
Yes, this actually exists for those not in the know
mind eraser is such a fitting name for an slc even though its overused.
Imo the worst named coaster I’ve been on is blue flyer at Blackpool pleasure beach or dune at rainbow magic land.
*the walking dead the ride*
You forgot Blue Hawk! I liked Ninja better than blue hawk! (SFOG)
I agree that Ninja is a much better name. Blue Hawk is pretty bad but it's not super terrible imo
You should do the best color scheme!!!!!!!👍
Oof at SFNE being mentioned twice. Not that its not well earned of course. Riddler Revenge always annoyed me, they renamed it when I worked there and I could never say the name right. It just feels like a typo. And Gotham City Gauntlet is just such a mouthful, even the shortened version. I always stumble when trying to say it.
Not to mention Riddler Revenge used to be Mind Eraser! 😅
lol Riddler Revenge is soooo frustrating. Like just add an S!!!!
Yep! Just make it possessive and it's all good!
As much as I like puns, they don't belong in coaster names, and InvadR is just... why??
Actually, I take back what I said about puns. Some pun names like Candymonium I think are cool. EqWalizer is just a really bad one
I think Dragon would work better for Dragon Mountain. Oh well, probably way too late for them to change it now haha
There is an intamin coaster at Chimelong Paradise called 10 inversion rollercoaster, it's not very creative
Him naming all of these coaster, oh the daddy coaster
"The RIDDLER Mindbender (SFOG in 2021) is even more frustrating than "Riddler Revenge"
YEP..................................................😑
Tbh I kind of like the name Tantrum. Definitely not the best but I don’t think it’s the worst at all. I guess it reminds me of Tarantula a little bit and I think that’s an amazing name!!
#3 is the most atrocious name on this list
Please make a part 2 and make Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster at #1
Whistle Punk Chaser is not at Dollywood. I was there last season and it was not there
It is at Dollywood. Opened 2017.
Coaster Daddy I just saw that it must have been closed when I visited. I do not remember that area being open. I believe they were doing maintenance there because the new area had just opened
Aw man, I really wanted The Tickler to be on here
It should have been lol I forgot about it
I'm french and I so much laugh when you say Walibi Rhône Alpes 😂
Oh sorry 😬 I didn't know I was butchering it. How is it pronounced correctly?
@@coasterdaddy7123 With English accent I test on Google translate and it's like "Walibi Raune Alpe" 😉
But it doesn't matter 😀
Surprised sooperdooperlooper isn't on here
It's not anywhere near a great name imo, but it's fun and I feel like it fits the ride nice.
apparently eqwalizer has only lap bars so i kinda want to ride it if i ever visit france
Oh really? That would be awesome! I was thinking there was something that made it stand out from the others.
I have to disagree on InvadR, Tantrum and EqWalizer here. These aren’t great, but they’re creative.
And why put InvadR without putting Valravn?
Didn't know that! Very interesting! I still like the name Tatsu though lol
@@coasterdaddy7123 I wasn't trying to change anyone's opinions, I was just saying my personal thought that I can't hear about it and think anything but it's called "Stand" lol
I think mind eraser sounds pretty dope though
I think all those DC Comics themed rides get their own special hall of shame when it comes to names. Six Flags is really beating a dead horse with those names
Exactly! It would've just been way too redundant for me to include some of those. At this point those names are just generic and lazy.
With Darien lake being my home park I knew tantrum would make the list somewhere
