I'm very excited to see Switchback and Orby Blade for this season. Switchback looks like somebody heard the name Apocalyptic Lawnmower and was like "let's make that" and Orby is what happens when Tombstone and Hypershock have a kid.
Orby Blade has to be up there as one of the robots I'm most hyped to see out of any of the robots :D I imagine it won't be a patch on Tombstone but I have some good hopes for it doing well!
Let's see, here is my rundown: Blip: happiness. That flipper has one h*** of a lot of power, and is just as durable as it's bro Tantrum. This has a d*** good shot at the Giant Nut. Defender: Talking about famous Bot Bros, this one is brothers with frickin WHIPLASH. And literally, it's Jason Vasquez driving this one. Whether the design will work is up to debate, but this has legendary status before any of its fights. Dragon Slayer: Hey, it's Electric Boogaloo from Robogames. 2wd vert. Whether it can beat Tombstone like EB is questionable, but the design has proven itself a few times. Glitch: Glitch is an omni-dricve bot, which should solve the famous gyro problems of Verts. Oh, and that's one big a** vert on this thing. Good grief, that thing should destroy a good number of bots. Jager: Gemini ain't coming this time around (Thanks, Uppercut), so a new multi bot took its place, hailing straight from Deutschland. Not much to say on this, it's a multi bot. Probably won't do great. ORBY BLADE: horizontal Hypershock! Thank God you finally came! Yeah, this is the King of Bots, from King of Bots. Need I say anymore, it's Korean Tombstone? Pardon My French: The Lego Battlebots Season 4 Champions themselves! Nuff said, that was a mouthful. Big a** drum, and that's bout it. Retrograde: This thing could be well on unbeatable. Here's why. It's lifted is used most of the time, like on Whiplash, but it can destroy wedgelets with the undercutter, so it will never have problem getting under its opponents. Genius. Switchback: I don't care what the team says. I say this is a fricking hammer drum. Holy s*** am I excited for this thing. Triple Crown: "How many weapons do you want?" "Yes."
@@Bromine35br I'm worried that it'll cause bigger controversies than hydra vs huge or beta vs Rotator. They also removed OOTA so that makes the shelf even more dependable for non-spinners
I don't think Switchback is a hammerDrum? Bot. Its just able to switch which side its facing - I don't believe its suppose to be used to come down on someone.
Great video and I’m just as excited for all the newcomers. However, I should probably let you know that there’s actually a tenth newcomer competing this year known as “Triple Crown”. You probably missed it because for some reason it’s the only bot not listed on the official BattleBots webpage. It seems like a pretty unique design too.
Thank you! Yeah that's what caused me to completely forget it but for being something I can barely even comprehend I'd give it the 10th spot for that alone XD
I miss my boy Quantum :( but nice to see other interesting bot designs like Blip, Orby, Defender and Swtichback on the show, i can't wait to see them in action
Same really, I imagine it's due to the travel restrictions as pretty much all the UK teams have had to sit this one out :( Still yeah at least there are these other bots which should be entertaining in their own right!
Switchback looks different, but unstable, and the spinner doesn't go low enough to the ground. Opponent spinners will get underneath the weapon and rip the body to bits. Also, all of that weight high up, suspended by two tiny axles, I can see the whole top half of the bot being ripped off.
Defender & all other grabber/lifters: Battlebots rules do NOT favor them in the slightest. Battlebots judges damage above all else, and they do none. Any grabber/lifter that cant guarantee 100% control of the whole match against all opponents will never win the nut. To do so they need a reliable source of damage once they have control. Something like a Gruff level blowtorch. A regular oversized Bic type flamer won't do shit for damage, it has to be something like Gruff's blowtorches. Jager: I'm glad you're a fan of multibots, I am too, because they ALWAYS get slaughtered, mostly by each other. The only way a multibot pair will ever manage to win the ut is if one is pure control, and the other is pure damage. You have the control bot lock down and immobilize the enemy while the damage bot lines up the perfect hit. 2+ damage bots will only destroy each other as they all do. Maybe in the UK multibots have "brought the fight" to some good bots, but that hasn't been seen in America. They are pretty much universally used as filler teams. Glitch: Sure, the egg beater drum looks beastly, but that wedge is extremely steep. Unless they have a lot of power and can guarantee themselves to be lower to the ground than their opponents they will lose. And they can't make that guarantee because they can't put ground scrapers on that thing because of it's front end geometry. I see this thing being a push bot more than a drum bot unfortunately. With any luck they have an alternate front end for when they figure out what is so painfully obvious. Truthfully this is probably the least promising design I have seen. I would even bet on the multibots over this thing. Retrobrade: A grabber/lifter that suplexes bots into an undercutting spinner? I'll bite, I like the idea. But the wheels are such a huge weakness. Switchback: Utter trash. Looks insane because it is insane. If this thing goes weapon to weapon against a vertical spinner or even a drum spinner it's going to be annihilated. I expect seeing the entire weapon arm come off at least once. And the weight of that arm compared to the footprint of the bot means I doubt it is capable of moving and hammering at the same time. Orby Blade is going to dominate. It's Tombstone is Ray Billings gave a shit about protecting his bot. The wheels are protected and it has a massive defensive wedge on 3 sides. This is the only new bot that has a realistic chance at the nut.
I'm looking forward to ORBY Blade this season having seen what the bot was capable of bringing during its past competitions in China in which I hope it does well. Its a shame that there are no British entrants in this season, hopefully they will make a return next season. But I will also keep an eye out for Cobalt which is now in the hands of Matt Maxham.
Cobalt in the hands of Matt Maxham is a spoiler for one of my top 10 returning robot entries ;) Also I agree, I'm really hoping ORBY can show itself off in the competition :D
I wish you would do a piece on the design of Blip! The “flywheel and rope-spinning” flipper design is such an imaginative design, and it works! If I didn’t see it I wouldn’t believe it worked!
Maybe it can be something I do when I get the chance as it's a design I'm very fond of! :D It's so incredible and outside the box that it makes it one to watch!
I’m sorry ok, switchback looks dangerous but very susceptible to many attacks, and it seems like if the arm is slow it will be shit and if it’s fast it could flip itself to hell and back
Admittedly Switchback is in that Deep Six camp for me XD It's over the top and I really want to see it hit just once. Saying that the robot seems more manoeuvrable than you might think at first glance, though I still hold my reservations about the wedge and we haven't seen if that arm is any good at moving yet so that could be another issue :')
@@TheDominusIgnis I hope it does well, it looks dangerous if used well, though another point. This seems like a robot that needs an EXCEPTIONAL driver. I know nothing of the driver of this bot but I have my doubts. I do really like the glass cannon of deep 6 because it will get a hit in, and always have an entertaining fight even if short as hell and this bot, I don’t think will have much in that department. Also the drum design looks heavy as fuck, so it may have a slow as fuck spin up, I’m not sure but that’s what it looks like. God I play for whomst makes a pack of this year of BB, it will be a nightmare
@@JDT-Loadsamoney Yeah, those are all valid concerns XD I like to get lost in the hype and imagine a best case scenario when talking about these, but even if it all works perfectly theres always a chance they'll get drawn against someone who has a more sensible design and it all goes horribly wrong there X'D
@@TheDominusIgnis yeah, thing is with perfect scenario in something like this, there’s always 1 loser and 1 winner, making this not good unless you have one robot with a passion, see bite force
Switchback can position their Drum at multiple angles more akin to 2016 Bombshell’s horizontal setup, it’s not designed to swing over like Sawblaze or Skorpios.
Out of Blip and Tantrum, I honestly think Blip is going to be the one to watch. I think Tantrum will be given a tougher schedule this season, what with it making the Semi-Finals last season. Plus without Aren Hill's driving, would it have the same success? It may still do well, as it is a very solid bot, but Blip looks to have Tantrum's solid construction, plus with a pretty innovative weapon system.
@@TheDominusIgnis It's sad to see serious contenders for giant nut just withdraw season due travel restrictions... i hope that maybe next year Quantum would be back more powerful than ever PS. Blip is my personal favorite newcomer, i really like a paintjob and flipper looks really cool, with good driving skills this bot can be really hard to beat even for wrecking balls like gigabyte, tombstone or orby blade
i'm interested in some of the new bots like Orby Blade. but the one i'm most interested in isnt new, but it wasnt in last season. Carbide. If they ironed out the kinks of the last version (when it was Cobalt) and the americans they gave the bot to can drive it well. It was punting robots into orbit long before uppercut was.
This year's field is full of so many experienced teams, whether returning big recognizable names or welcomed newcomers. Even the newbies look like serious threats than can become fan favorites, blip, orby blade, etc. S6 should be a *great* season, hoping the shelf don't ruin shit 1:09 :,(
@@TheDominusIgnis We don't know what the future of Inertia Labs would be. A lot of fans was hoping he'll return in s6, but I guess that hope is gone now. Maybe because s7 is confirmed, the boys decided to take a break working on the machine? Who knows? New Bronco? New flipper bot? Entirely new bot? We don't know. All I'll say is that if it's anything but a flipper, I'm gonna be disappointed. Not to take away anything, I mean if inertia labs want to make a spinner, they can do whatever they want, but it'll be sad to see the follow the trend of "add a spinner to be more successful" crap, because they're known for flippers. There was a reason why they are so iconic in the sport. And this is their first EVER battlebots event that they won't compete in, *SAD* Bronco itself is retired. They're selling their parts on ebay and the description says "Retired Bronco............" So that's that, no more. 12-9 it is, been waiting for a 13th win for more than 2 yrs, I guess that will never happen. But now the main question is...... what now? Who will be my temporary replacement for s6? Meaning who can I 100% cheer for to win the whole thing?
@@jonathanf2392 There's always a chance if it's the end for Bronco that the team may return someday with an all new flipper, given Bronco had its own predecessors :) Bronco is a robot I do enjoy and if it's retiring then I'd say the positive way to look at it is that it's retiring before it gets further outmatched allowing it to keep its legacy with those of us who enjoyed it. Hopefully we either see a new from the ground up Bronco or even a successor from Inertia Labs that can continue the legacy of their flippers :)
@@jonathanf2392 I totally understand how it can be disheartening, though please try to not let it get you down. If you enjoy Bronco then that's your opinion at the end of the day :D Just curious, what do you think of the previous flippers by the team like T-Minus?
@@TheDominusIgnis first of all, I don't believe bronco is outmatched, no, I really don't. Because all his losses were either against impossible opponents or from bad dumb luck. Is he really outclassed against all bots? I'm still confident he can beat a good handful of mid-tiers, I really do. I mean if tombstone loses to bite force, bombshell, witch doctor, rotator, end game, skorpios & black dragon all in a row without any wins, are you gonna call him outclassed? Second, even if he is outclassed, does that really mean he should retire? All bronco need to do is evolve, not replace him with a brand new bot. Look at witch doctor, she didn't do so well in the ABC seasons, but look at how she evolved over the years to become the runner up beast that went 9-1 & beat 6 elites. I mean can bronco not do that? He can definitely make some changes to become badass again, can you agree on that? For his predecessors, I didn't watch the comedy central episodes back when it aired (or online) so obviously there's no special feelings at all. Of course toro, madator & t-minus will stand out because..... well Bronco. And yes, 2 of them were nice to watch, especially t-minus special moment, I was hoping bronco could have done the same with bite force, but I guess not. What I'm hoping is that in the future for bounty hunters, we have iconic comedy central bots as our legendary bot, that'll be a perfect fit. I know the different weight classes, but why not? Doesn't that sound interesting? It'll also be a nostalgic road trip for the old fans to see bots like disector, toro, minion, t-minus, biohazard, hazard, vladiator, vlad the impaler, NIGHTMARE, etc, right? Have the old team return for one final special cameo to hype up old fans, that sounds really cool to me.
Battlebots allowing for other weight classes would be a lot of fun! Some of the teams would also already be prepared as Team ORBY has robots from different weight classes ruclips.net/video/8m8D05vJMYg/видео.html and the team behind Minotaur Team Riobotz have Touro robots available in almost every weight class available www.riobotz.com/combat :)
@@TeamWhackjob-Official Yep! Plus there all kinds of other weight classes they could do, such as the insect classes which are extremely popular and the featherweights which have robots like MegatRON, the robot that in many ways provides the basis for Sawblaze such as doing the hammer saw first :)
I'am so glad that finally a German bot made it to the competition, since we are still the equivalent of the Jamaican Bob sledding team. when it comes to combat robotics. (I remember the nightmare of the German robot wars were most bots where barely functional and could have been beaten by a roomba with a screwdriver attached) But I don't see JÄGER being successful...not in the world of big hitters..and control bots that can carry and push you around and well armored tanks that won't be effected by small weapons. Being light and small is a disadvantage against all of them. A fragile (looking) mini axolotl with exposed backside or a mini carbite won't scare anyone. Anyway...I have so much respect for the German team and I really hope they proof me wrong. VIEL GLÜCK JUNGS...ihr seit Helden...egal ob ihr gewinnt oder nicht.

Bronco itself is retired.
If you enjoy Bronco then that's your opinion at the end of the day :D
Just curious, what do you think of the previous flippers by the team like T-Minus?
Can we make weight class for the robots? If for something smaller, we could potentially have a Crush Gear fight irl.
In the cc era we litterally had this this lightweight championship the middle the heavy AND the superheavyweights now they just use one
@@TeamWhackjob-Official Yep! Plus there all kinds of other weight classes they could do, such as the insect classes which are extremely popular and the featherweights which have robots like MegatRON, the robot that in many ways provides the basis for Sawblaze such as doing the hammer saw first :)
@@TheDominusIgnis right tho but for the insectclasses we got bugglebots

Blip is what Chaos 3 should have been !
I'am so glad that finally a German bot made it to the competition, since we are still the equivalent of the Jamaican Bob sledding team. when it comes to combat robotics. (I remember the nightmare of the German robot wars were most bots where barely functional and could have been beaten by a roomba with a screwdriver attached)
But I don't see JÄGER being successful...not in the world of big hitters..and control bots that can carry and push you around and well armored tanks that won't be effected by small weapons.
Pog
when does it starts?
They said right around thanksgiving
Hey north American fans have known about wedge bots like wheelie big cheese and of course the likes of the crusher
Sorry! I was likely thinking more of casual fans who might be new but I understand I messed the phrasing up there, my apologies!

Triple crown is an honors 10th ig
I admittedly forgot about Triple Crown honestly (I blame it not being on the site), but it's so bonkers that just for the sheer wonder of what will happen I will say it gets the 10th spot XD
I am not going watch it if Bite Force is not completing this season.
Unfortunately its a no then :( Shame but I understand, we all have a favourite robot or a robot that we cant imagine seeing a season without :)
@@TheDominusIgnis I am still going to watch it. I am just having fun. It would be nice to see Bite Force this season, thou.
@@XHellPriest Ooooh lol. Yeah I'm hoping to see Bite Force again sooner rather than later, it'd be awesome to see what would happen with all these improvements and new designs that have been coming to the scene!
@@TheDominusIgnis maybe, Bite Force would lose by KO.
Did he know blade is from Korea
Yep! The robot quite proudly says so on its body :) I just got caught up on its history in King of Bots and its lovely design when talking about it and I likely didnt want to go on too long but Blade is very well made and promising!
But you wrote 9 battlebots
Haha, I had went in with intentions of doing 10 and while there are lots of great new entries I wanted to keep it to ones I was truly excited for so it ended up being 9 :)
Water is the worst enemy not fire
Hydra is a punk
Lul. You say Top 10 even tho it's only 9
It was the original intention, but I want this to remain bots I'm really excited to see and didn't want to force it to be 10 XD
Also just wondering, any robots you're looking forward to seeing in the new season? :)
Defender is gonna be a big boom or bust, really disappointed about bronco though, he was always the greatest to watch.
they took the battlebots game on roblox down due to copyright, but there is other great robot combat games on roblox like world wide robot fighting
