  • Bill Pinkney, vocalist and founding member of the Drifters, discusses his time on the road with Buddy Holly, including how Holly helped soften the harsh realities of segregation in a very personal way, how music was a powerful tool to foster integration and why Holly was "number one" in his book. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum interviewed Pinkney in 2005.

    I loved this kind, generous, and talented man. I had the opportunity to sing and play with his band on several occasions. Truly a legend and a entertainment icon.
