Hi things about them, i have a question to ask, is your channel monetized, my reason for asking is because i run a similar channel to yours, pls find time in your busy schedule to reply 🙏
There are many groups using the name. There was one singer who was billing himself as formerly from the Drifters and getting bookings in the Long Island area. I knew he couldn't be a Drifter because #1 he was too young. When speaking to him I asked him questions that he couldn't answer . The best was he didn't know about the recording True Love the B side of Dance with me. Joke. He has since passed on but he fooled a lot of People.
" Up on the Roof" "Save the Last Dance for Me" "White Christmas" "Under the Boardwalk" Love these guys 😍 RIP to Charlie, Clyde, Rudy, Johnny and Ben ❤️ 🕊️
@@calvinjackson8110 There we’re many more songs done by leaders such as Rudy Lewis , Sweet for my sweet, Room full of tears , Mexican Divorce and many more , like I said THEY were my all time favorite 🤩 GROUP.
Good that you featured the group. A follow up would be great , then you can make mention of legendary but short lived Rudy Lewis. His Burt Bacharach written songs were awesome.
Presenters of these documentaries should do more research before releasing. No mention of Rudy Lewis in this presentation and he was one of their best lead singers along with Johnny Moore. Do some more research in the future please.
Egregious oversight. Rudy sang lead in one of the greatest songs of all time. I also find these type of click bait videos annoyingly deceptive. The right photo gives the impression that, that is Ben E. King NOW. King died in 3015.
Rudy Lewis was my favorite singer from the Drifters after Ben E. King and he wasn't even mentioned. Some songs that Rudy was the lead singer, Please Stay", "Some Kind of Wonderful", "Up On The Roof" and "On Broadway" also "Another Night with the Boys"....
Rudy Lewis is arguably the most successful lead singer of the Drifters and led the group at the height of their popularity from 1961 until his untimely death in 1964 and his name wasn’t even mentioned. 😮
@@garfieldmaloney3861I I'm an OG that loved doo wop and Fell in love with 'Oh My Love' and There Goes My Baby' sung by Ben E King in 58 and 59. Good memories. :)
@@garfieldmaloney3861I think that the video didn't mention him because even though he was one of the original drifters, his career was short lived, due to troubled and traged end. that being said, my mom dated Bill Pinkney when I was 12 until I was 22 years old, it was fun traveling with the group in the summer and having the house full of musicians. not to mention how many girls that my brother and I impressed with free concerts tickets of many other groups. my mom and and Mr Pinkney also had matching Lincoln Continentals that we would sport around town. We were sad to hear of his passing and was still close with his family in Greenville and Sumter SC.
My favorite lead singer along with Ben E King was Rudy Lewis, he was the lead on Some Kind of Wonderful, Up on the Roof, 'Please Stay', Another Night with the Boys and On Broadway. BTW: My favorite song was a Doo Wop lead singer Ben E. King entitled, 'Oh My Love' as well King singing This Magic Moment.
The second man in your thumbnail is not Ben E. King(the first photo). The second man is Bill Pinkney who was from the first group of Drifters, the same group who did White Christmas from the year 1954.
How can you give a "history" of the Drifters without mentioning Ben E. King's replacement, Rudy Lewis, who sung lead on two of their biggest hits, "On Broadway" and "Up On The Roof"??

Ben E. KING did the song There Goes My Baby in about 1959. Another group of Drifters featuring the lead vocal Johnny Moore did Boardwalk in 1964.

Their slbum was fantastic
Needs an update...Charlie Thomas is gone and there is no mention of Rudy Lewis.
His name was Benjamin Earl Nelson . Ben E King was just a stage name.
The second man in your thumbnail is not Ben E. King(the first photo). The second man is Bill Pinkney who was from the first group of Drifters, the same group who did White Christmas from the year 1954.

Ben.E.King ,Rudy lewis and Johnny Moore were the best lead singers of the Drifters.

What about Rudy Lewis?
He died in 1964 I believe. He was lead singer of the group of Drifters that did: Up On The Roof and On Broadway.
Rudy was my favorite lead. Thanks 👍
"White Christmas" puts a smile on my face every year. ruclips.net/video/ddVZOK_9UUI/видео.html
