Sometimes you end up criticizing something because it means so much to you. To be clear, that's really the point of this video - we love the Sailor Moon universe and multiple interpretations of the story, but it's sad to see it hit a point where it seems more important to throw Usagi on a box of chocolates or sell luxury clothing than it is to tell interesting stories. Thank you all for watching! If you enjoy the video, we'd love to hear from you. We also have a store, cosmobunny.shop , where you can use code SAILOR for 10% off your first purchase! We have some smaller channels too like a let's play channel here - www.youtube.com/@realdegenerateplays and a channel where we look at RPGs and JRPGs here - www.youtube.com/@DJayRPG
The sad truth is Naoko isn't passionate about it now. She is more interested in things like car collecting than in making stories, but she cares enough to maintain creative control so nobody else can do anything with it.
Yeah, I also read she had burnout while creating the Sailor Moon manga. I wonder if she still feels it or lost interest in it since finishing the manga.
I feel like the only Manga Creators in a Group would be interested in Sailor Moon and would like to expand it alongside with other Franchises that share the same universe is CLAMP. Yes! You read my Comment. I'm talking the Creators of CardCaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Chobits, and many others. If anything, I rather have a Small Manga Group buying the Sailor Moon Franchise than letting some Greedy Delusional Corporations like Disney and WB, especially both of those Companies. The ones that own Marvel and DC Comics.
That just makes me want to cry I can’t believe she just doesn’t care anymore. How can you make something so lighthearted and amazing and then throw it away like it doesn’t matter. I get she made it but there are so many people that have fallen in love with this series over the years that it’s not just hers anymore. It’s everyone’s and no one just wants to let it go like she does..
@@icecreamhero2375true but I think it comes off a bit tacky when they're still slapping her face on everything like talked about here and you had creators like Toriyama who were interested in their work up until they tragically passed. It kind of makes people feel like an artist is lazy in some ways when they're cashing in but not making anything. She has every right to do it but I find it a bit sad and I think a lot of other people are not a fan of this mindset that creators have when they do this.
@@visionary1138 I mean I'm not a fan of that Mindset either when it comes with Original Creators that doesn't want to continue Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon's Story by giving her a Manga Sequel like CLAMP did with CardCaptor Sakura with Sakura Kinomoto's Story Continuation like CCS Clear Card. Even if the Sequel doesn't do well compared to the 90s Manga, at least we got a Continuation with Sakura Kinomoto. So I don't see why Naoko Takeuchi doesn't want Usagi Tsukino to have a Continuation or have her Daughter Chibiusa Tsukino have her own Series, or even better.. Have both Usagi's Sequel and Chibiusa's Own Series as well.. Like Degenerate Jay said about Sailor Moon Merchandise being so damn Expensive that even Celebrities can afford to buy them while we the fans from other parts of the World if not Japan can't afford to get these Expensive Sailor Moon Merchandises that we wanted, while you got CLAMP a Small Manga Group that makes and collaborates with other Companies and Franchises that helps make Merchandise for CCS, MKR, Tsubasa Chronicles, Chobits, Code Geass, Clamp School Detectives, and many others. CLAMP do make Expensive Merchandises, but they don't over price everything unlike Naoko Takeuchi.. So.. Something tells me that Naoko only Target Celebrities instead of the Fans of her Beloved Franchise.. while the Creators of CLAMP Targets both Celebrities and the Fans. So whose better at making decisions with their Anime/Manga Franchises? I'll let you people in the Comment Section decide and.. have your own Opinions about this.
THIS! It’s frustrating to be a Sailor Moon fan and watch NT/Toei make so many questionable choices regarding merch. The prices are often absurd and quantities (artificially) limited, which invites scalpers to participate in what’s normally a fun hobby (hello fellow figure collectors!) I would be overjoyed with more story, or at least an adaptation of the Sailor V manga ❤
@@Redux8365 Probably whoever gets it after Naoko but it's funny to see the other passionate creators still cranking stuff out compared to where this is at. I like Naoko's and respect what she made but it makes me sad.
@geypanis like I said somewhere else in the comments if toei doesn't do enough to keep the brand visible people are gonna lose interest and I think we're getting close to the era of Sailor Moon burnout because of the lack of new content
They also pretty much stopped making any of them over 10 years ago which stinks. There are a few diamonds in there but a lot of them were lower budget titles that then never got localized elsewhere like you said.
That's not entirely true. One of the Japanese SNES games was released in France, USA got an exclusive PC game and Italy got an exclusive DS game. Sailor Moon Drops was released Worldwide.
@@ochibawolf Nothing wrong with the boxset existing it's just it brought basically nothing new to the table from the last x amount of times the books were reprinted. I personally think the "Eternal" edition with the bigger print was the most fun edition I've seen and own, but I also have the classic prints and other than a handful of nice colored small photos the new boxset didn't really justify a purchase for me. But also people are free to buy whatever! It's probably a great way to jump into owning them too for someone who doesn't, but I think it is also not super high effort sadly.
Why isn’t anyone interested in that throwaway line by Nelhellenia that implied both she and Queen Serenity were immigrants to the solar system, which in turn implies that the moon kingdom was a relatively recent thing? Who’s Princess Serenity’s Father? Why did Queen Serenity tell little Princess Serenity that she needed to keep her inner light burning bright, and how did she know that was the key to keeping Chaos at bay? Why did Queen Serenity visit the Galaxy Cauldron? Why was Tuxeudo Mask the Sailor Senshi of both the Earth and the Sun? How did Queen Serenity meet Luna and Artemis, and how do Phobos and Deimos factor into this picture? Had the Sailor Quartet been sleeping in the Amazon since the time of the Silver Millennium ? Finally, what’s the deal with Sailor Cosmos-what’s her backstory; how long had the war that ravaged her planet been going on and what were the circumstances that caused Sailor Chaos to appear? So many unanswered questions, and at this point it’s unlikely we’ll ever get any official answers from Naoko herself.
If they were to ever make another Sailor Moon anime they’d have to make it a sequel because they’ve already rebooted Sailor Moon multiple times. At some point fans are going to get tired of watching “nostalgic anime but in a modern setting”. They could do new things with Sailor Moon without having to reboot it…again.
I completely agree, because I feel like there’s still story left in that universe that should be explored. What about chibiusa and her life? What about usagi when she’s an adult? What about some new sailors we haven’t met before with new stories and new villains? It doesn’t just have to be the same story over and over again. As much as I love it, it’s going to get old eventually if it continues to only be rebooted in various musicals, animes, etc. it reminds me of the frieza arc in DBZ where it’s constantly rehashed in video games over and over again.
@@magicaljill Buuuuuut, what could they do for Sailor Moon when it had that time travel? I mean, she Galaxia was the strongest Sailor Guardian, she faced Chaos, and Sailor Chaos was so powerful Sailor Cosmos travelled back in time to consider retconning her out. Cannot just powercreep like Dragon Ball could, for she did hit the ceiling of her worldbuilding. Chibiusa maybe, but Usagi?
I feel like there's so much potential for more Sailor Moon media just like how there's multiple different Dragon Ball anime series. If the creator or people in the anime side got permission they could have adapted Sailor V, side stories and bonus chapters, and/or go into anime only stories by expanding the universe and lore such as having a series based on the characters past lives or their lives in the future Crystal Tokyo. I read that the creator herself, Naoko Takeuchi got burnt out when creating the manga. I wonder how she feels about it now decades later. It would be nice to get more story even if she's just giving notes to anime writers. In a perfect world, Sailor Moon would have gotten a great anime adaptation that expanded on concepts from the manga. Sailor Moon Crystal clearly had production issues especially in the first two seasons and the animation and pacing were the two biggest issues for many people including newcomers to the franchise. Even if it improved later, it doesn't change the fact that the first two seasons were difficult for many people to watch. Meanwhile, other reboots got handled a lot better like Ranma 1/2 and Fruits Basket and got many people into those franchises. I have yet to see that level of hype or love for Sailor Moon Crystal as I have seen for other reboots. In fact, many anime-related RUclipsrs barely mention Sailor Moon. It's not present in discussions in the anime community. Also, in the last decade or two there have been less and less shoujo anime to the point that there have been years that no shoujo anime aired. Sailor Moon is the best-selling shoujo anime franchise, but it's been treated terribly especially in the West since Netflix took over and did barely any marketing. They released the movies once the hype died down and most people already pirated it since there was no news for a while. Due to poor marketing there are still many people who don't even know there's another anime and thus barely any anime discussion of it in the general anime community. In the last decade or two, shoujo franchises have not gotten many if any video games. If this is how badly they're treating the most well-known and best-selling shoujo anime franchise I can't imagine how much more difficult it is for other shoujo properties. There are many reasons for this, and the main reason is misogyny. Most people who make decisions in the anime industry are men who don't read shoujo manga and don't know how to market towards a female audience. There have been several articles and videos made about misogyny in the animanga industry and community. I highly recommend the RUclips channel, Colleen's Manga Recs for this topic.
Yep, I'm shocked because Crystal was closer to Naoko's vision. Yet it did SO poorly. Make me feel that "original vision" of the artist is not a guarantee for success.
@DrawciaGleam02 As far as I know, there was a delay for a year, and I remember it airing biweekly instead of weekly. I don't know how much the creator Naoko Takeuchi was involved in Crystal. All I know is that she was listed as chief supervisor for the Eternal and Cosmos movies, and those look way better. I also have heard that there was a disagreement with the rights of the franchise and that she had to get them back from Toei Animation.
@@helarymedina3139 I think they also did a bad job with the budget for the early part of it. But I believe the newer movies did well in Japan for being anime films so it's like Crystal didn't do the best but the movies did better. Weird situation.
@andyowski5021 Yeah, that's also because the creator got more involved and was credited as chief supervisor in the movies. Also, those were the most anticipated arcs since they were the two most different from the 90s anime. The new anime did improve over time, but for some people, they didn't stick around to that point as it was very rough for some in the first two seasons with the pacing and animation.
Also, as much as they continue to make merch- they have missed a thousand opportunities to make iconic villain and minor character figures like other shows like One Piece. There’s demand!
Bro, I just want two things; A Sailor V short series anime or movie. A Hollywood budget Sailor Moon live-action movie done very well. Preferably set in Seattle, cause you know... port town and the freakin Space Needle in place of Tokyo Tower!
One thing as an early 90s kid I dislike about Sailor Moon, is the fact that the characters don't age. I like how Dragonball characters aged with us and feel more relatable. And Toei needs to do better and lay off the cheap CGI animation.
Toei will never focus on Sailor Moon as much as they did in the 90's. It's not profitable for them: they don't own total rights to it, contrary to Precure. They surely aren't going to do self-competition. Naoko on the other hand seems to have no intent of changing this situation by handing, for example , the franchise to another studio, or I don't know, creating new stories related to the franchise. So, selling overpriced, "aulic" merchandise aimed to ADULTS, not kids, is the way they'll be doing things(and are doing for a long time).
Makes it look like Naoko doesn't actually care about the series at all at this point. It's weird how different her mindset is compared to a lot of these legendary Mangaka like Oda, Toriyama or Kishimoto.
@@andyowski5021I mean she's a wife, a mother and a successful businesswoman now. Her attempts of making manga were met with disappointment (the final straw is Kodansha losing a chapter of her PQ Angels) and I can see why she stepped down from making any more contents directly.
I hate that the anniversaries are non ending. Buy any merch from 2011 to today and it will have a 20th, 25th or 30th anniversary logo on it regardless of what year it was bought.
I will say at least the Japanese merch looks like some thought is put into it. The american merch, besides maybe the loungefly bags,... pretty pitiful. Talk about low budget cash grab stuff.
You bring some great points! I totally agree Sailor Moon should expand to other areas - especially video games. The franchise would make incredible *NEW* video games. This is an area that I do not understand why they haven't made new ones. In the 90s, the games blew up in Japan and did well. This is where I have the suspicion that Naoko is definitely holding tight to her franchise on what merch SHE wants to make (high end collabs like Jimmy Choo, female oriented products in JP, etc) That being said, I am a Sailor Moon collector. My life is based entirely around Sailor Moon and its merch. It brings me a lot of joy. Do I like or agree with all the merchandise? Absolutely not. Despite if I like a collab or not, I am always happy when I see SM work with a brand or a collection. We see DBZ everything, and I love seeing our magical girl get exposure, even if I don't buy it. Sailor Moon forever! 🌙
it would be so easy too, just take DBZ FighterZ and Kakarot, and swap it with the SM IP, a big 2D fighter and playing the whole SM story as a 3D RPG would be so cool. i also got super excited for that new SM statue, then saw it was like 800 bucks, oof. lol.
I think i’m okay with Sailor Moon as a story and a franchise being done. I think my biggest disappointment is more that Naoko left the industry as a creator herself. She had a short follow-up series called PQ Angels then went on to focus on helping Togashi. I don’t blame her for focusing on her family, but I really would have liked to have seen new, original works from her, even if in different genres. But I think Sailor Moon will probably exist as a brand from here forward unfortunately.
Im of a completely different mindset. Would I love to see Sailor V get her own Crystal animation? Hell yea. Would I love to see a prequel about Queen Selene and the creation of the Silver Millenium or see the story of Sailor Cosmos? Hell yea. Would I buy if they came out with a new game? Hell yea. Do I need new stories? Not really. In this day and age, we get sequels and prequels shoved down our throats because companies are too greedy to create new franchises, too scared to try new things and too interested in indoctrinating us with the top percents ideologies. Sometimes there is immense value in just letting a franchise be the way it is and not ruining it by adding something that shouldnt be part of the story to begin with. I also want to respect Naokos wishes, and I can kinda see why she wouldnt want to make more stories because it may expose the plot holes and non functioning machinations of the series. Do I have a problem with the exorbitant amount of merch? No. I actually really like it. When I grew up, there was no Sailor Moon merch at all. The only thing I could ever get ahold of were the anime magazines and I was gifted a Sailor March doll. So I am more than happy that there is so much stuff I can pick and choose from now. And even though I would never be able to afford the Jimmy Choo stuff, Im still happy to see it existing. If there is something for me to absolutely hate, its the scalpers that abuse Sailor Moons popularity to blow up the prices. But they do so to other franchises too, so Ill hate them no matter what it comes down to.
I'd like to see someone finally localize all the sailor moon games and make em available on everything in North America in English as theirs zero reason why this hasn't happened yet
I totally understand everyone's feelings about Sailor Moon's status and the future on where it can stand at right now. I definitely do agree with you- Sailor Moon deserves so much more as it's one of the golden 90s anime & G.O.A.T.s in Anime that also help bring anime to the world and I grew up watching the show as a child and absolutely I fell in love with the entire series from watching the 90s anime plus Crystal / Cosmos to reading the manga to collecting SM Goods and merch as I truly love the show so much for always inspiring me and making me happy. I do would love to see the continuation of the Sailor Moon series with Chibiusa becoming the next Sailor Moon following Cosmos as we deserve to get a Sailor Moon sequel, but I truly understand that Naoko wants to take a break from making more Sailor Moon and whatever decision she makes, I'll always support her in her goals and plans. I do say that Sailor Moon really needs a new video game for 2025 because it's long overdue and we need one for game consoles like XBOX ONE or PS5 etc and omg I do have plans for how they can make one it inspired by gameplays like Naruto Shippuden and also use animation like Miracle 4-D (plus Sailor Cosmos can be Preorder & DLC for everyone to get). And finally we need to get more Sailor Moon figures like going back to the S.H.F. Figurearts and other collection sets to complete as they were currently working on them until they just suddenly stopped. I absolutely love Sailor Moon so much and I want the show to be treated with so much love and respect like other anime shows like Naruto & One Piece, this show makes everyone so happy and inspires them and it just gives you the happy feels of the universe. I hope it gets a lot of love, and we Moonies also keep the show alive as we love and support it. Sailor Moon deserves so much more and I hope it gets all of the love worldwide.
I really wish 90's Sailor Moon would get a new Brazilian dub, like they did with One Piece here. No censorship, no cuts and faithful names. However, it seems like a very far reality, and I envy the US A LOT because they have what I would like to see, while we still have girl Zoisite and cousin Haruka and Michiru. Also, we did get a new dub for the Sailor Moon Eternal and Cosmos movies, but despite the faithful names and the lack of censorship (that's great already!), the dub used some English and Japanese words where they shouldn't be, which made it sound very iffy.
Great video on a sadly often described topic in the Moonie community. There doesn't seem to be a solution in sight. Good luck on keeping this video up. I've had many of mine taken down and even received a strike from Toei once a video gains enough traction. I recently received a strike over a couple years old video compiling all Sailor Moon attacks and I ended up deleting dozens of videos with over a million views. They don't care about growing the brand or fanbase when they are striking it's most ardent supporters.
It's definitely sad but I also get it. I feel like since she's loaded enough to where she no longer NEEDS to keep grinding out more stories, she just uses her already established characters as Hallmark merch at this point for the extra change. It's almost inevitable when you think about it. Either a franchise will become iconic enough to be their own brand of merch or they will slowly fade into obscurity. I do wish we could have gotten some new content after the reboot however. It would've been nice to see Chibiusa and her squad's adventures in Crystal Tokyo as the new sailor guardians. Or even a whole flashback season of Usagi's former life with Queen Serenity and her friends in Silver Millenium. I agree how there's so much content that can dtipl be made from this series alone
yup, ur right. a few things: we DID just get the last Crystal film, but is that it? also in America we never got it on Blu Ray, yet i see were getting new Blu Rays for the 90s films.... they do also reprint the Manga every year for whatever reason..... yeah i noticed about every week at Hot Topic there is a truck load of new merch lol.... and yeah, the lack of any Video Games is insane... wheres Sailor Moon FighterZ??? and as a Funko Pop collector, Funko lost the license to Sailor Moon like 5 years ago, and we never got an explanation for this... it upsets me still... like, were they not selling well???? and yeah SM in 2024/2025 is just a brand... as a Dragon Ball fan also were feasting on Super and Daima... wheres Sailor Moons sequel series???? amazing video!
I want a persona 5 styled Sailor Moon game. That is my dream. I know it will never happen but it would be so cool seeing the unique sailor moon aesthetic come together in the UI
Honestly I'd rather have a shortage of official Sailor Moon media than having the entire franchise spoiled due an excess of awful entries. The story ended and that's a good thing, with it flaws and all it wasn't ruined by unnecessary sequels or an unforgivably disappointing finale that tainted the entire thing. Think of Star Wars, it went from being one of the most beloved film trilogies that united geeks, film connoisseurs and mainstream audiences to a neverending parade of flops that alienated casual viewers and infuriated fans. Most of Star Wars now ranges from lukewarm to absolute rubbish. Do we really want the same for Sailor Moon? Sometimes is best to let things come to an end, not every story needs to be expanded to oblivion, in fact most don't benefit from that at all. It already happened to other of my favorite IPs ever, the Alien saga. It was perfectly good as it was, I even liked the 4th installment, is not as good as the 3th one and is definitely not as masterful as the first two, but it was fine as it was. Then Prometheus happened and everything went downhill from that. I guess it would be cool to see the rest of the manga adapted, in fact I think that not adapting at least some of the short stories into SMC was a mistake as some of those stories can be perfectly integrated into the main narrative in a way that feels organic. Just some random self contained filler episodes that allows to understand the characters better, and I specially crave to see my most beloved Sailor V finally come to life thanks to animation, even if just as a single a special and not the whole story, but I'd much prefer to be left there waiting for more than a lackluster entrie into the franchise that makes more harm than good. In conclusion I want to live the rest of my life thinking that Sailor Moon is a concept that could tell so much more than what it did instead of franchise that shouldn't have to do that.
Ehhhh, personally Star Trek can be a better antithesis to Sailor Moon. Star Wars' premise & main course has been consistent at least. Star Trek meanwhile went from intriguing, if slow, series of political-inspired shows into a Star Wars knockoff, especially since both Trek & Wars were falling more or less one after another(Star Wars fell first, then Star Trek).
At this point, all I'm waiting for is the inevitable 4k remaster of the 90s series and with interest in how Toei will do it because they have been surprising me big time lately with some of their other old anime & live-action releases.
@@Xzeon55 Well technically SM got on Blu-ray before DBZ (not counting Kai nor the movies) in Japan. Upscaled from DVDs but still... All of DBZ's Blu-rays have been either upscaled from the Dragon Box DVDs (most of Europe) or scanned from old film sources that aren't the original negatives (all English countries along with Spain with the movies).
i doubt its gonna be a legit 4k upscale wighout AI (toei tried this mess with Interetellar 5555) i rmember they eithe rlost or damaged their original film for the series. there is a fanmade remaster in the works though.. i trust the fans with that over Toei cus even Toeis own remasters for db are a bit shoddy ask any US DB fan
I always wanted a prequel series of Sailor Moon. Think about it, we never get to fully see the other senshi's kingdoms, we even see more alien races for a brief moment in the Cosmos movie (not sure if this is shown in the manga, I hadn't finished it) What I'm saying is, we could have genuine space adventure anime with our favorite girls. It's a shame us fans are going to be continued to be left in the dark :/
Oh I agree so well w this I’ve seen sm everywhere but most r luxury products hence I take sm as a hobby and only buy when I know I really want it.I treat the series itself as completed as anything new like the reboot is just extra gift for me to be grateful for 😂 waiting for the s5 adaption 😊
I completely agree! I feel they cheapened it by making movies and not seasons for the rest of Crystals show. I think they have so much content to work with and choose not to and it's sad. I'm a fan from when I was little. I wouldn't mind seeing Sailor V or even a continuation of Chibiusa and the Amazoness Quartet. The fans keep it alive and I feel the creator should remember that.
I want it to be like how SAO (Sword Art Online) did with 'other' stories for media- like some stories (in SAO) universe can be written by other writers (with Reki Kawahara's final lookover like spinoffs Gun Gale Online etc.)- I mean, it is implied that there were many Worlds with their own Sailor Senshis- Spin offs for these parallel worlds would be doable , right? But- Japanese are notorious with gatekeeping-ness maybe she is very protective of her own mark for the franchise- but maybe, her son or daughter in the near future will greenlight spinoffs?
I would like to see more crafty kind of official stuff so when Sailor Moon was hiatus, that’s what the community was doing crafting but I don’t think it will happen because the creator is a luxury girl.
Honestly I do indeed like my fair share of new merch (seriously give me my S.H Figuarts version of the Sailor Starlights already) but it would be nice to get something with a little more substance. A Sailor V adaptation could theoretically do quite well. Also, if given to the right developers a new video game would be highly appreciated.
I believe the problem with this is that they’re trying to keep something going in order to make money with or without the creators (in this case Naoko) their say so and sometimes we seen that with other brands outside of anime or even here with Marvel and DC. If they really want to be bold then I wouldn’t mind them seeing doing crossovers with other shows like for example something in the realm of the Kamen Rider for instance or even something from super sentai, The latter of which already has like three different anime shows that are based around it.
I guess Takeuchi is just fed up with being a mangaka. Her two series after SM failed, she had plenty of headache with the 90s anime, licensing disasters and it's just my guess, but sometimes I think she was forced to draw Stars. Just look at Dream arc. Doesn't it end perfectly? Also the amount of anguish and tragedy in Stars could just be a reflection of her being tired of that. Thus, ever since early 2000s, married and with a son to raise, she just decided to harvest the fruits of merchandising, making one or other new illustration for new editions and her website. It's such a pity, since SM has a stunning potential for spin-offs, novels, animated shorts and of course, Sailor V anime. But anyway, she's doing nothing wrong, since anime and manga ate meant to be commercialized, first and foremost, otherwise they won't succeed.
If Toei keeps focusing on the merch for too long without innovating and doing new things and keeping the brand visible people are going to have Sailor Moon burnout and the brand is going to start getting ignored in the next decade.
Also the life of sailor moon and friends after the main story concludes that's illuded to in manga that would tell us if the Pegasus ever gets saved and returned to life from being incased in stone would've been nice and provided closure, also how sailor moon becomes queen of new crystal Tokyo and what happened to her human friends and parents...
If they wanted to make a new series how a prequel telling the story of what actually happened in the Moon kingdom before Queen attacked and destroyed it. A series with chibi Usagi as a teenager and new sailor scouts A series with sailors that based on the Zodiac (kinda like Saint Seya) but with more focus on the zodiac signs Leo,Aries,Taruas,Virgo,Sagurtius etc
Sailor Moon still has musicals coming out regularly. There are 20+ musicals. Naoko got burnt out on Sailor Moon and Kodansha stole some of her art.. And while she has made amends with Kodansha, she may not want to go back to that. She is also a mom and her husband has been unable to work consistently..
Boy, vitriolic comments over negative comments? How about any opinion about anything that doesn't go with the fandom's "common knowledge"?. The fandom is so protective of this anime it is outright ridiculous at times. Reminds me of an old thread for the Excel Saga parody on a forum I was a member of: 90% were calling it disrespectful and rough, and said those cheap anime wish they were as popular as Sailor Moon 😑😑
Not really sure about this "but they aren't making new stories" take ngl. I mean, even without how the story ended with time travel, sounds like when a comic has a short plot to advertise merch, like Batman in Fortnite. NOOOOO, I do NOT think you meant a manga about the Sailor Scouts buying shoes or something, but I do question what you meant, and not just because of how odd that expensive merch is.
I heavily disagree with some points you made. I myself and my partner are both passionate fans however I will say in reference to the Jimmy Choo Collab, it is for all fans so I disagree with what you said. I’m not sure if you’re familiar but Sailor Moon has a heavy history in the world of Haute Couture fashion so think of brands like Dior and Chanel which are literally staple brands of the franchise Princess Serenity is literally wearing a Dior gown from 1992. The outersenshi are seen in various pieces as well, many fans of the franchise whom I respect were able to obtain some of these beautiful pieces. Naoko has always been a lover of fashion so I know how much in particular that collab meant to her. It is unfortunate that not all fans can access these items but I don’t think it’s a cash grab it’s a celebration and testament to how influential sailor moon is even in the world of fashion so I don’t think we should just discredit it just because not all were able to purchase. As a fashion model within the fashion industry I can say that Sailor Moon is powerful in many communities that you may not be aware of. I do agree that more stories are needed. I would love to see Sailor V adapted along with other stories from the manga. We also need a Sailor Moon fighting games as well 🌙
agreed bc the way he spoke about the collab was a bit dismissive like there’s an entire fashion community that ADORES Sailor Moon. Like let’s be happy our girl is getting Luxury Collab! Like hello more recognition? Like you said it has a heavy history in the world of fashion. Like yes the prices are ridiculous but like that’s luxury fashion industry? Let’s be happy for the fans that did get those items 💕 this is why I can’t with people who don’t understand fashion at all. Luckily mother Naoko understands and adores fashion 💕💕🌙
Blaming toei cause they have aomw rights to any animation and they are probably having trouble co-operating with Noako. toei just focuses on precure since they own that 100%
Get used to it a "greedy cash grab" is all anything is anymore, do I need to bring up all of Disney's shit-tastic live action remakes of animated classics to made a but load despite everyone hating them somehow.
You do know that all the merch that came out these last few years was to promote the reboot right? Once the hype of the reboot dies down, it will go back to obscurity like in the 2000’s. Unless of course Naoko makes something new. So what do you think about Ranma? That one ended in the 90’s as well, do you consider the latest merch of the reboot a cash grab as well? Interesting how you call Sailor Moon a cash grab, yet you praise Dragon Ball for doing the same thing. Merch for all popular franchises are cash grabs you know. It’s not just Sailor Moon 😂. Also yea there is tons of merch out, some things I don’t agree with & skip out on as well. But I love for fans that there is so much to choose from in different price ranges. Not many shows for girls & women get this treatment. Fruits Basket by example got like 5 figures & a couple of acrylic stands and that’s it. So yea I’m grateful that there is so much cute stuff out there in my budget of the show that I’ve loved ever since I was a kid.
So there Miking it and are not willing to take a break from it. Sounds exactly like what’s going on with Naruto, expect the sequel is a cash garb. I wish Tegami Bachi My Favorite Series was Given Collaborations and Was Given a Chance for New Anime and Manga Merchandise. Seriously I would Iconic Scene Dioramas of the Characters.
I want to see the original Japanese sailor moon anime meet the American version sailor moon by toon maker cartoon and Japanese sailor moon version in a special movie in the future please make it happen
@Alukorde yeah but I couldn't help but make the comparison. The only difference is they're making TV shows and rereleases. I just wish they would start making new games again.
They have. It had a collab with some mobile game I had never heard of last year or so. I think some clips were in this video. It was "tower" something I think. Chinese developed I believe. I downloaded it and it was a horrendous cluster of menus and typical mobile game trash. The Sailor Moon art was nice, but I quickly deleted it.
@CincyRaz I see but when I see different anime on mobile games that get collab like NIKKE X EVANGELION, Brown Dust X Senran Kagura and even others but maybe someone will pick it up to get extra cash. It really a money grabber now.
I feel like the only Manga Creators in a Group would be interested in
Sailor Moon and would like to expand it alongside with other Franchises that share the same universe is CLAMP.
Yes! You read my Comment. I'm talking the Creators of CardCaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth,
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Chobits, and many others.
@@visionary1138 I mean I'm not a fan of that Mindset either when it comes with Original Creators that doesn't want to continue Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon's Story by giving her a Manga Sequel like CLAMP did with CardCaptor Sakura with
Sakura Kinomoto's Story Continuation like CCS Clear Card.
The prices are often absurd and quantities (artificially) limited, which invites scalpers to participate in what’s normally a fun hobby (hello fellow figure collectors!)
I would be overjoyed with more story, or at least an adaptation of the Sailor V manga ❤
Let's face it we're not getting any new animated content for a VERY long time
@@Redux8365 Probably whoever gets it after Naoko but it's funny to see the other passionate creators still cranking stuff out compared to where this is at. I like Naoko's and respect what she made but it makes me sad.
@geypanis like I said somewhere else in the comments if toei doesn't do enough to keep the brand visible people are gonna lose interest and I think we're getting close to the era of Sailor Moon burnout because of the lack of new content
and while Sailor Moon had LOADS of Video games for it NOT a SINGLE one LEFT Japan despite how popular IT still IS in the USA.
@@SailorMoonFan92 There was also the arcade beat em up game from 95 that did get an English release.
And yet there's no Sailor Moon Fortnite Collab.
Been feeling this way for a while on it. The newest box set especially was so lazy and clearly just done for a quick cash dump.
Yep a couple of lithographs or whatever they're called and otherwise not much there.
it me, I wanted a boxset, lol
Totally sequel or adapting V or the other stories. I would hope people aren't clamoring for another reboot.
Forget Reboots, I want Sailor V's Stories Finally Adapted, as a 2 Part Movie, & Ask Naoko's Permission to make a Crystal Tokyo Spinoff.
Or continuing Sailor Mars’s long awaited spinoff facing the Star Constellations of Olympus after Sailor Moon’s original storyline.🤔
@@magicaljill
Buuuuuut, what could they do for Sailor Moon when it had that time travel?
A Crystal Tokyo Manga would be the next Logical Step.
Bro, I just want two things;
A Sailor V short series anime or movie.
I’d give anything for a new and good Sailor Moon games
There needs to be a modern day Sailor Moon video game in the same style as Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. That would be SO good!
This was a truly honest take on how the "Sailor Moon" brand is managed. God bless you for explaining what it's about in a balanced way.
This is where I have the suspicion that Naoko is definitely holding tight to her franchise on what merch SHE wants to make (high end collabs like Jimmy Choo, female oriented products in JP, etc)
That being said, I am a Sailor Moon collector.
I want a mini Sailor V series prequel
Me too I’ve been wanting that since I first read the manga as Sailor Venus and V story is my favorite!
1. i JUST bought everything on the new Blu Rays lol
2. if SM got 4k before DBZ, that would be so funny lol
In 90’s in Europe there was so little merch available that I am happy that we are getting now what we are getting.
You mean Western Europe. US in Eastern Europe could not get *hit in the 90s. 😒
You have a good point, I totally agree
I always wanted a prequel series of Sailor Moon. Think about it, we never get to fully see the other senshi's kingdoms, we even see more alien races for a brief moment in the Cosmos movie (not sure if this is shown in the manga, I hadn't finished it)
What I'm saying is, we could have genuine space adventure anime with our favorite girls.
I love Sailor Moon, but I don't buy a lot of merch most of mine is bootleg, but I bought a few proplicas.
I would like to see more crafty kind of official stuff so when Sailor Moon was hiatus, that’s what the community was doing crafting but I don’t think it will happen because the creator is a luxury girl.
that ebay stuff is insane
Ronin warriors
Yeah it's not intrinsically wrong but I can see why it makes her look lazy to people nowadays.
Pretty sure Sailor Says said something about this. It's ironic really.
If they wanted to make a new series how a prequel telling the story of what actually happened in the Moon kingdom before Queen attacked and destroyed it.
A series with chibi Usagi as a teenager and new sailor scouts
A series with sailors that based on the Zodiac (kinda like Saint Seya) but with more focus on the zodiac signs Leo,Aries,Taruas,Virgo,Sagurtius etc
Oh boy another musical that she had to put zero effort into the story of. What a difficult task.
Blaming toei cause they have aomw rights to any animation and they are probably having trouble co-operating with Noako. toei just focuses on precure since they own that 100%
Maybe we should have a new pretty awesome Sailor Moon series I wish it could have a USA dub or something
Phantasy Star new genesis all all the outfits and weapon camo
I want to see the original Japanese sailor moon anime meet the American version sailor moon by toon maker cartoon and Japanese sailor moon version in a special movie in the future please make it happen
Well, that ain't happening 😅
I don’t want they’re having..I just want Sailor Mars Figure Merch in many forms despite extra large Sailor Mars T-Shirts.🤨
Or Miss Moon Crew’s Hot Wheels Cars and Vehicles?🤔
Honestly It’s just merchandise, it’s not a Nostalgia bait. After all sailor moon is a Brand so it’s fine.
The part in the video about whoring the brand out sort of reminds me of what all Konami's been doing with Castlevania lately.
At least the Castlevania stuff is good
@Alukorde yeah but I couldn't help but make the comparison. The only difference is they're making TV shows and rereleases. I just wish they would start making new games again.
Lol wtf
You know I am surprised no one didn't put Sailor Moon brand on any mobile Gacha games. I wonder if they will do that.
