I believe this to be an important shift; The internet is so young and the possibilities are so great, it will take decades for it to mature. Products - When I look for products, I hit the blogs...and usually never read the good things about the products (since they are probably why I'm interested in purchasing), I read the bad. I hate ads and have never trusted them, never will. Social Media - I still find it hard to find consistent, high quality information. This will be the key.
This is so true. I am so busy setting up social media accounts for others (my work) that my own accounts are behind the curve. I have been a marketer for 30 yrs and love this evolution!

10 years ago, who would've thought the internet would be like this! It will be really interesting to see what it's like in another 10 years. We live in exciting times!
The internet and social media have already become the greatest actor in the spread of ideas since the printing press. It has changed the way we speak, communicate, interact and even think. Of course many people will be resistant to this, due to our evolved instincts to not immediately embrace change. On the flip side, as a result of these advancements, we are so swamped in entertainment that we become apathetic to the real issues we should be concerned with. Aldous Huxley would be terrified.
Social media is definitely here to stay. The way that we experience social media now will definitely change. Some sites will disappear and some will be new. Other sites will evolve and grow into something that we can only imagine at the moment. Social media is changing the way people buy and sell. We can now not go back to selling the same way we did before. We will only move forward down the road that social media has paved.

I would say that "social media" is more specifically internet space designed for people to connect and interact with other people online. Internet in general includes people connecting with companies and data
This video is super interesting. I always knew the internet was popular and fast, but I never understood how dramatic the website/social media population increase was.
This video is marketing genius! Now although these numbers jump out like crazy, I think it's important to note the internet today is getting split into such niche markets. The key is to attack those markets with targeted campaigns to get the most out of digital marketing. Still need to know your consumer and where they are actively participating

I believe the video makes the case for Social Media in business. If the numbers aren't correct, its only because they grow so fast that by the time you put them in print, they are no longer valid. Companies have been paying thousands of dollars to consultants to tell them what their customers are now willing to tell them for free. It's all about relationships. Start building the relationship with your customers. If they can't get what we want from you - they'll find it somewhere else!
it's soooo true...social media is becoming a monster. people at my work are getting in trouble for posting info on their fb status r/t work that shouldn't be posted and considered unprofessional in a very professional setting.
Very true that we no longer search for the news, but instead it finds us. Eerie to think that the same will be true in the near future for products and services. Convenient, but a very sensitive topic with respect to privacy.

No one I think can deny the incredible changes that have taken place due to 'online' social interaction. Personally I feel the potential for democracy has blossomed. No more need for massive home encyclopedias! New friends, all over the world, at lightening speed.
Apparently this video is based on the ideas of Ray Kurzweil. I'd strongly recommend his book, "The Singularity is Near". The future technological predictions it contains are simply mind-blowing.

To make multimedia efficient, it should be 1) text congruent to spoken words 2) multilingual with subtitles 3) no pointless music 4) graphics to illustrate text > I would it do the presentation this way.
