Ecologist Robert Paine did a study in 1960 where he proved that if all carnivores were eliminated, all herbivores would begin to slowly die off due to the lack of vegetation, because the herbivores would continue to proliferate unmanaged by the carnivores until there would be no vegetation left for the herbivores to eat, causing them to die off, thereby proving that carnivores are necessary to the balance & survival of all. The study was done in the ocean in Washington state. All the carnivorous ocean creatures were removed from a particular location, leaving the herbivorous ocean creatures in place. The herbivorous ocean creatures began to multiply to the point which left no vegetation for them to consume & they began dying off from lack of food. This film would make a very good teaching tool for school children - more interesting than looking at dry pages in a book - & for adults who do not have much knowledge or understanding about our animal world. Still, there will always be those people who hate carnivores because they kill cute “bambi."

I'm a new subscriber & I found a video (I can't recall when it was from) entitled "Nikita Lioness" who was playing w-a very large yellow ball. My question is, are the big cats ever given smaller balls that they can pick up in their mouth & carry off to another location, which cats love to do. I've watched many big cat channels & notice all the balls they play with are quite large to be kicked around but not small enough for their mouths to grasp. That behavior mimics carrying prey off to another area to eat. Thank you.

Thanks for following us! We have hundreds of videos of our cats playing with their balls and other enrichment. They particularly enjoyed their pumpkins in the fall. Nikita especially enjoyed her pumpkins and carrying them around and ripping them apart. Yes they did have different sized balls. These balls are supposed to be "indestructible" but with big cats they eventually "kill" them with their teeth and claws. This is just one of the videos of Nikki playing with her pumpkinruclips.net/video/pStuLkjO1dw/видео.html

Why are all your animals are still in cages if your mission is to save them? Genuine questions! Thank you!

Sadly accredited sanctuaries must exist because big cats born in cages can never go free for many reasons including it is not legal to release them. Big Cat Rescue was instrumental in getting the Big Cat Public Safety Act passed in December 2022 that stops private possession of big cats and stops cub petting....both the main reasons so many big cats (mainly tigers) were bred and born in captivity. They are taken from their mothers at hours old and used for cub petting for profit. That is now illegal. Big Cat Rescue's mission has always been to see all wild cats live free. We are now focusing on saving cats in the wild thru conservation work with partners in the wild. BigCatRescue.org/Insitu explains more.
