I finally found it, I been looking for these commercials! My son and I use to love watching them. We would always says "there's enough food to eat a lion"! hahahaha.... We loved the sock pup puppet! Great, memories! Xoxox
Many people don't know that the voice of the dog puppet was Michael Ian Black or Ian Michael Black, actor comedian known for lots of cool stuff including the awesomeness that was The State.
Recognize Barney Martin, aka Morty Seinfeld, Jerry's Dad, as the doorman? For the longest time, I thought the "bribe" ad ("I'll give you thr--FOUR dollars" "Keep talkin', I'm listenin'." ) was one of the most hysterical ads on TV! The whole run was brilliant.
"... purely in an advisory role..." I remember these ads from when I visited the US for Thanksgiving in 2000. Had a great time and wish I'd bought the puppet!
i was 0 when this company went defunct, but watching the first ad, i immediately remembered all the dialogue for the ad especially the "Try to get it try to get it try to get the burger" i guess my earliest memory i can recall is hearing this ad. i dont remember watching it, but i knew all the dialogue lmao.
There was a period of economic prosperity in the late 90's due to low interest rates. People had so much spare cash that investing money in the stock market became the thing that everyone did, and investments were typically in companies that seemed to be growing fast, with high profits projected in the future. Those companies were mostly .com companies that were growing rapidly through the typical scheme of selling their products cheap to gain brand awareness, before increasing prices.
These commercials and mascot was so popular back then. Man I remember kids at school quoting him, so sad by the time I got internet most of these dot com sites defunct.
Man if only they held out a few more years, they'd be huge now. Too bad they burned through all their money on trying to grow their business fast with expensive ads instead of slow and steady.
Electronic Post Agree. They had poor management judgement too. We ended up educating ours when we could. He was a real bonehead. Had no clue how to run things. Never understood why he was hired.
The absolute genius that made these needed to be absolutely famous and the one that gets me dead laughing is this “I came to play with the tabbby cat and ill give you three dollars no foouur dollars”
One of my shotest employments ever, but enjoyed it very much. Management was a joke, but the job itself was fun and high tech for that time. Starting pay for that time wasn't too bad either. $15hr. Too bad they didn't take their time thinking this business out more. We often ran out of popular products. Pets stayed busy until the end. We recived alot of positive feedback from customers. In the Union City office. Not sure about the SF office. Thanks for posting. I miss silly commercials. These way too repetitive singing/dancing in the streets Broadway style birth control commercials we have now, have me hitting mute at the speed of light LoL
Oh wow, I had no idea he was in the Thanksgiving Parade! How appropriate for today! These make me laugh every every every time..."Come on...I see the delivery for the Parakeet"..."I'll give you threee dolllaaars"

I think I love you! I am so excited someone has these up. I loved these commercials so much that I bought the talking puppet when I found it at Toys 'R' Us or somewhere like that. I still have it. And, no, I wouldn't part with for anything less than an obscene amount of money, so forget it. My favorite was always the Christmas ad, but happy puppet thing and I'm here to play with the tabby cat rank right up there!
damn, i just watched those commercials for the first time, and i LOVE them! they are hilarious :) i can only imagine the whole buzz around this socket dog and pets dot com, cause it didn't leak to Poland back then ;) too bad.
And back then, when the internet was relatively new and exciting, internet-based companies were hard to value, resulting in dot-com company stock prices skyrocketing. In late 1999, the federal reserve increased interest rates again and again, then people started losing their confidence in the projected profits of dot-com companies, and started selling stocks, causing the stock prices to plummet.
A real failure in advertising. The dog did well for selling the dog, however, it did nothing for overall revenue. All though this was one of the first internet sensations the company later went down because this was not positioned well and did nothing to build brand recognition and boost sales; instead it gave the poor sock puppet its fifteen minutes of fame.
Still holds up as one of the best advertising campaigns of all time.
