Thank you for the upload. Soulkey was one of my favorite players on the woongjin stars team back in the starcraft pro leagues like 13 years ago. He was a great player known for his steel wall style, but he just was never quite "good enough" to make it deeper into the tournaments. Great to see that he's finally reached the finals of the asl for the first time and really wish him all the best. It's because of players like him and the continued BW tournaments via Afreeca that broodwar has still survived even after all these times.
Love the game 5 intro of Tasteless in the bottom left and cat in the top right. I love that you two real-time play off of each others words. Keep it up you two fantastic casters!
I feel like Rush's vessel control was actually really really good this round. Normally we see TvZ with a bunch of vessels getting plagued and miscontrolled into death. But rush really was on point and didn't let his vessels die needlessly.
Rush was undoubtedly the mechanically superior player. Any game where Soulkey didn't gain a huge advantage via outstrategizing him, Rush's mechanics ground him down. That said, glad the strategically superior player pulled it off in the end, I will always root for outhinking vs outplaying.
Agree! Conversely I often see zergs who have plagued like nine vessels but never actually finish them off. SK did good work converting his plagues into actually dead vessels. Going hydra always helps with this, but he definitely microd some hydras to get the kills, and once built a muta for just that - and didn't lose it before killing a few vessels

Game 1 was really exciting and showed the value of the firebat. Rush built so many firebats he had to sacrifice tank production, but it clearly worked. Every force had at least two firebats mixed in, often more, and they pushed a lot of positions that terrans tend to struggle with (like one lurker, one defiler, and a few lings).
Yeah, game 5 showed how nicely they can deny ling reinforcements, which really dampens the effect of dark swarm before the engagement with it even occur.
OMG hell yes. This was amazing to watch. I can’t believe he won. My fav player of all time comes through despite multiple games where it looked impossible. And what an ass beating at the end. I’ve never wanted someone to win something so much as I will for the final. Amazing series

I really appreciated that moment he was leap froging the lurkers. That slowed the push so much. It was that move that alowed for so much more lurkers to join and the defiler to be made
The winner played out of their minds. The fact that in the final game, they should have been behind economically, and yet managed to be so aggressive as well as getting such a big army advantage that he had a crushing attack at the end just showed that he was operating at the top level in every way - strategically, micro and macro.
