There has been quite many Banjo Kazooie-esque platformers on Kickstarter already but oh boy it'd be great to see the Crash Bandicoot-style fairway platformer make a comeback!
MultiplayerMario64 I'll try to translate/remake my old platformer video some day (more recycled content you've already seen :P) and write a tanget about the difference between Crash Bandicoot and other 3D platformers, and why so few games replicate the style of Crash. I recently replayed Pacman World on PS1 and it's one of the few games that sort of mimic the Crash style, though it's mostly side scrolling levels with some 3D depth added to them (rather than "Sonic's ass" levels). I dearly hope the rumors about the new Crash game are true. Long as they don't hand the IP to some clueless developer that doesn't understand what made Crash work in the first place, Crash 4 is my second most wanted sequel that needs to be made, right behind Half Life 3.
if you give Rings of Power a shot, it's actually very humorous and satisfying, in spite of the clunkiness and balance flaws here and there. Also just mindblowing as the first full-fledged open world console game
I absolutely love Jax & Daxter and the Crash Bandicoot series but have never owned a ps3. I don't get why the Uncharted games and The Last of us are so well regarded. They look so unexceptional. Not bad. Just mediocre.
Andi Rain How good would Uncharted be if it followed a Zelda template rather than a Gears of war one. A good balance between action and puzzle solving would really make Uncharted great. I have only played Golden abyss and I liked it. But the levels are way too linear to warrant a 2nd playthrough. Just my opinion.
I don't get Uncharted's popularity either. I played 4 and I enjoyed the scenery and tehcnical aspects (how well the characters are animated etc), but that's about it. It's insulting how scripted the gameplay is. It was absurd to me to think that some people consider that the GOTY over Dark Souls 3.
I hate the double standards when it comes to game reviewing. Games like The Order 1886 and COD are rightfully derided for their linearity and scripted bullshit but Uncharted 2 is hailed as the greatest game ever for doing pretty much the same thing but with a considerably better story. I wouldn't mind if it was just the mainstream websites (coz no one cares what they say) saying this but there are so many actual gamers who also think the same.
Andi Rain Agreed but Crash had much better gameplay and level design. Levels in Uncharted are just one straight line and the levels itself are way too scripted. Uncharted isn't bad. What i dont get is why is it being hailed as the best game ever. Once you do that you're comparing Uncharted to games like Planescape torment, Thief 2, Deus ex etc and uncharted doesn't exactly fit in with these games. Its a really good game but a bit too hyped.
