After seeing the amazing results of reef roids on my corals I was wondering what would happen if this became an organized thing where wild corals got regular feedings. Maybe we could help undo some of the damage we’ve already done, and help quicker establish those man made reefs
I just saw this last night. It was so great and I learn so much. Thank you for taking us on all these dives and showing us these awesome creatures we love so much. I never tire of your videos. You are definitely one of my favorite RUclipsrs and you give so much to the reefing community. I have not seen a video I did not learn something I didn't know. I really appreciate all your hard work a great bigTHANK YOU JAKE for taking us along!!
I know it's early but best video of the year so far! Seriously great footage and it seems like this would be a really neat experience. I feed reef roids every week and turn off all flow for close to an hour then run just the return pump before returning to full flow since I target feed instead of broadcast.
How long would you say its safe to turn off a 55 gallon? I do it usually for no longer than 10 minutes. Im still a newbie in the hobby, and am not sure whats safe
I usually wait 45 minutes into a power failure before I fire up my generator so I am comfortable going 1hour. You should wait at least long enough for your corals to eat their food. How long is safe depends on how many fish you have. In all but the most jam packed tanks 30 minutes should be safe, probably much longer. That being said if you are worried leave the return pump on and turn off all other flow.
Hmmmm.....Never having a reef tank (just freshies) up until 9 ago, theres tons to learn. Ive already lost a bunch of fish to velvet, because I was too trusting of someone elses word and Im not going through that again lol. Maybe for my own comfort level I will do 15 and take it from there. Thank you for helping.
This video is so awesome...i just could'nt take my eyes off of it...those corals would have really appreciated you feeding them with Reefroids...thanks for sharing it Jake...
Losing Jake was such a huge loss for the reefing world. You don't really see content like this anywhere else. His passion, advocacy, knowledge, and competence was insane. It's just so sad and tragic.
Great video!!! I especially love how the feather star reacted to the feeding..perhaps keeping these interesting animals is more possible with reef roids! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this content, lord knows it can't be easy and not cheap to go All the way there for this, amazing, loved to see some of the pieces in my tank in there natural habitat
LMFAO, that was 99% broadcast feeding and 1% target. None the less a fantastic video and idea. Coll to see the coral we work so hard to raise in n captivity in their natural environment. Funny how nature makes it look so easy, hmmmmm.
This is the first video that mentions soaking the roids first! thanks a lot for that tip!! would hate to waste a great product. just started feeding my 20g nano reef roids 2 weeks ago
What did you use for color correction? Filter, post editing, or just the video lights. I've found my go Pro with a red filter and wide light about four feet away gives good color.
Wow Jake thats for an awesome video. Man i did enjoy it thanks for sharing with us. Man keep it up man, been following you sense Next Wave 2013 in DFW when i got in the hobby you or very inspiring man
Beautiful video footage, but how do you know that the coral polyps are responding positively to the food rather than retracting from the disturbance of a stream of liquid shot at them?
I just saw another video about coral aquaculture(WWC video). It says it’s better to do coral farming in aquarium tank than in the ocean. Because coral farming in aquarium tank doesn’t need to adapt anymore to other tanks(customers). Coral farming in the ocean is better for restoration of natural reef
There’s definitely some merit to that statement - established aquarium corals are ready to grow in an aquarium, where wild corals might need to acclimate for a some time - could be a few days or weeks.
Wouldn't this hurt them or over feed them or potentially stress them do to the fact they get enough food from the looks of it naturally. Just a question not criticizing.
Crinoids extend their arms to feed, and pull them in to collect the food they've caught. The arms were fully extended when I started feeding it, and closed right away when it started catching food particles.
Hello, can you identify the blue fish with orange stripe in the head in 13:20??Love your dedication to the hobby and the videos are amazing great information always learning. Thanks
Those sponges at 1:59 are way cool with their white exterior and lime green rim and interior. Wish you collected them and cultured them to release into the US aquarium trade
This is something I’ve always daydreamed about. Cool to see these colonies in their natural habitats
I found this very informative for my coral reef restoration program at Nuwamata Island Conservation.
I've really been enjoying your content lately. high quality and the beauty of those corals is amazing. i'm jealous you get to experience this!!
i keep going back to these video, I wish you make another video like this, its great seeing corals you would see in the hobby out in the wild.
After seeing the amazing results of reef roids on my corals I was wondering what would happen if this became an organized thing where wild corals got regular feedings. Maybe we could help undo some of the damage we’ve already done, and help quicker establish those man made reefs
Better to leave the wild reefs alone in all respects.
Hey you forgot to turn off the flow 😃
You're partially right, next time I'll aim to do this feeding dive during slack tide.
This was Fantastic! Oh, Thank you so much!!!!! I will most probably enjoy viewing this video over and over again.
That clam was the star of the show..

It's so satisfying to see you target feed corals in the wild! I have to try that when I get back into the waters with my diving 👍
Thanks Jake for the great footage. Awesome to see you target feed corals in the wild
This was great. It's so nice to see coral in their natural habitat to see what we should be aiming for. Thanks again!
Amazing video! That giant clam was insane to see in the wild I’m sure
Beautiful and healthy reef. Keep up with the great work, Jake.
Great Video Jake. You did a great job considering you had to deal with the flow.
thanks man, it was the first time I tried feeding wild corals but it won't be the last.

Amazing. The natural beauty of our seas. Just stunning.
Great video!!! I especially love how the feather star reacted to the feeding..perhaps keeping these interesting animals is more possible with reef roids! Thanks for sharing!
As a hobbyist, this video makes me unbelievably happy.

Amazing! So cool, this is on my bucket list! Plus I never new to soak Reef Roids first.
Thank you for this content, lord knows it can't be easy and not cheap to go All the way there for this, amazing, loved to see some of the pieces in my tank in there natural habitat

Great video, looks like a ton of fun. My corals love reef roids!!
Absolutely beautiful reefs hope I can see them one day
This is the first video that mentions soaking the roids first! thanks a lot for that tip!! would hate to waste a great product. just started feeding my 20g nano reef roids 2 weeks ago
this whole video & idea is BA!!
Oh man. Talking about increasing the oceans PO4 😉 look like you enjoyed yourself. Thanks for sharing with video with us
What a cool idea!
Great product i use it all the time. Cool damsel at 14:52. Love Nps gorgis.

Soo cool!!!! I want to do this. Thank you for this video!
Nice video Jake, great camera work
Nice vídeo 👏🏼👏🏼
What did you use for color correction? Filter, post editing, or just the video lights. I've found my go Pro with a red filter and wide light about four feet away gives good color.
This video is a feast to my eyes
Wow Jake thats for an awesome video. Man i did enjoy it thanks for sharing with us. Man keep it up man, been following you sense Next Wave 2013 in DFW when i got in the hobby you or very inspiring man
I remember feeding corals on night dives 25 years ago.
Beautiful video footage, but how do you know that the coral polyps are responding positively to the food rather than retracting from the disturbance of a stream of liquid shot at them?
Good question, I don't, but it's probably a little bit of both.
When planning to feed the reef put the ReefRoids first, water next - much easier to dissolve.
Only you could of that of this Jake!!
Awesome video sir
Wow, this is an amazing video. You are so lucky.
Living the f***ing dream man! Frickin awesome
Omg it looks like a giant reef tank there
Thats gonna be a huge water change
I can't believe I just found out that Coral are animals and not plants!!!!!!
I've recently become obsessed with atolls....
Jake do you feed row in your frag tanks or your colonies
Great video 👍👍
Cool video!
sweet video
Nice video! The LARGE white tip SHARK knows it’s feeding time too, wants some Roids! I always dive with head on a swivel ;-p

incredible video. I will be using reef roids for my nano reef
Wouldn't this hurt them or over feed them or potentially stress them do to the fact they get enough food from the looks of it naturally.
Just a question not criticizing.
One thing I would like to add is that the Crinoid wasn't eating the food, They extend more when they eat they do not close up.
Crinoids extend their arms to feed, and pull them in to collect the food they've caught. The arms were fully extended when I started feeding it, and closed right away when it started catching food particles.
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Who sings this "Lost in Paradise" song?
what kind of fish is that at 1:30? (blue and red) it looks kinda like a damsel to me but not 100% sure.
Dang those sps look amazing what supplements do you use
Jake, it seems the reef tanks in peoples homes respond better to the Reef Roids. What are your thoughts?
Hello, can you identify the blue fish with orange stripe in the head in 13:20??Love your dedication to the hobby and the videos are amazing great information always learning. Thanks
I strive to balance the eye candy and the information nuggets. The fish is Pomacentrus bankanensis
thank you Sr.
Awesome. Great intro song too, felt like I was on vacation. What the name of the song?
you found the name of the song ?
I'd like to know too!
Yes my priority too.. maximizing food particles in the water 24/7
Awesome video, i just recently started feeding, is twice a week good?
NewReefAddict !
I feed reef roids about 2-3 times a week! 👍💙🐠
twice a week is awesome
Should we broadcast feed with a big boat and 500 gal of roids 😂 im in
Some great footage.. not sure how much roids actually made it to the corals but 😂
Watch out the nitrate level lmao
Very interesting 👍
Mind me asking the details on the opening song?
0:45 Those fish look like Cardinal Tetras what the heck.
So Jake is PNG suitable for coral farming bizz? Just imagination to be a coral farmer is so awesome :)
Beautiful
I see a lot of bleached tips on the acros. Is this typical?
Those tips aren't bleached, that's how wild staghorn corals look when they are growing fast, especially in full natural sunlight.
Thank you, I had the same thoughts.
Beautiful Vid Jake. Btw which Version of Lost in Paradise is playing when you made the dive?
Khazin x trigarow x ozlan
Sweet thanx bud. Keep the great videos coming!
Ah man! Soak for a period prior to using, man I’ve been ballsing it up for 2 years! 💡
Great video. Your audio was low
Those sponges at 1:59 are way cool with their white exterior and lime green rim and interior. Wish you collected them and cultured them to release into the US aquarium trade
What the model number of the camera
0:01 Music Please
Okay but what about feeding that super skinny dog at 4:35
what is the song that sounds in the introduction
Eluniver hope they respond to the music requests. I have asked the same questions
What is the name of the coral at 14:12
Mantap karang nya💙🙏
I love how you dumped that fresh bottled water in front of those poverty stricken kids lmao.
Lol, this is the tropics, not the desert, they have plenty of water
I think reef roads are disgusting! I tried them after you say it was your favorite food
Every time I use reef roids it throws my parameters off
Woh
