When I discover Bad Religion, somewhere in the second half of the 90s, I was hooked. The best part was that I could immediately indulge myself in the rest of their discography. It was all just as great, no matter how far back I went. All ingredients to make their music great were there from the start, independent of high quality production. In fact, part of me enjoys their early work more. This song is the perfect example of a great lo-fi punk song. There is no way a cleaner version of this song will sound better.
This is how I remember Bad Religion. These were exciting times. The first 7" and the first album are still a couple of my fave records. Raw and brutal. Thanks
The host is Peter Ivers and the show is New Wave Theater which was part of USA's "Night Flight". I saw this when I was a kid and it was first broadcast. Also saw Black Flag for the first time on this show.

but you are indeed aware that they have aged over 20 years since back then? don't you think greg would make quite the fool of himself, were he, a phd whatever and past his 40s, to act and sing on stage like that? don't get me wrong, i absolutely prefer their early stuff and didn't quite like as much what they released the past, say, 10 years. but i respect them for staying out there and on top despite those changes. this old shit brings back priceless memories, though...^^
