The rev7 is 100% hardware routed like their mixers so it feels and cuts exactly like using a djm s9/s11/s7. If you’re mainly mixing and doing beginner or intermediate scratches like chirps, transforms, Joe Cooley’s and the like, it’s not a huge difference, but if you’re doing a bunch of fast double time multi-click techniques lithe Rane fader just kind falls apart in terms of precision and latency

channel gains were set to just below clipping. Master was tuned to just below clipping on the input on the sound card. Pioneer DJ gear tends to have a bit more output because the after about 3:00 on the master is gain whereas master volume on Rane mixers are attenuators only. I hate the placement of the pitch controls on the rev 7. But I’m not a battle DJ. One impression of sound quality I have after owning the Rane One for two years, and having compared it to the sound quality when playing digital tracks on Serato Scratch via timecode vinyl, Rane SL3 and analog mixer, is that there is a slightly compressed or “computerized” sound to the Rane One where the file sounds fuller when played via dvs. The Rane One sound seems fake, or computerized or like there are subtle artifacts similar to when I hear an intense robotic dubstep track. It’s very subtle but noticeable to me. Anyone else had this impression? I realize this may be irrelevant now that the Performer has been released, which I am salivating over btw.
On the Rane One (and the grand majority of controllers), the mixing, EQing, leveling, summing etc is all handled directly in the software vs a mixer where the only thing serato outputs is the audio of the tracks where the EQing, levels, summing is handled in the hardware. This is also the reason the Rane One feels a little mushy in the crossfader department since it's Serato handing the fader and the fader itself is just a midi fader rather than a hardware audio fader (which it flips to when using the audio inputs). The REV7 routes the audio through hardware and so do the Four and Performer Rane controllers. Most people don't notice, but if you scratch or if you have a discerning ear, you'll probably notice a difference
To me the pioneer sounded a little fuller, but it was really hard to tell until the mid and lower ends came in. Almost didn't hear a difference in the beginning.

Rane One all day for hip hop, r&b, old school djs like myself. I don’t really care about effects so a good crossfader and the hot jams are all I need to move a dance floor. Controllers and other gadgets are just tools to get the job done.
@@DjSmoothNY the magvel on the rev7 is still better imo - the flaw in the Rane one is that the fader is entirely serato controller rather than hardware routed like on the rev7 (and the Rane four for that matter) so there’s more latency and the curve isn’t as nice.
@@djsoo have u ever used an innoFADERPRO? I’ve used mine since they first came out so I guess my opinion is based on experience. But I still get busy when I have to lol. I guess I’m more into great song selection and sound as I’ve gone into my 48th year djing 😀
@@DjSmoothNY I have two in my 72s - one with a pnp2 and the other with the pnp3 and I also have a mini pro in my Reloop spin. The 72 is hardware routed so the innofaders are awesome. The Rane One isn’t hardware routed so everything is done in the software - so it’s less a physical fader problem and more a problem with serato’s handling of the xfader cut and curve

@@danizm78 i have no doubt that if he doesn't get to keep them, he gets a substantial discount. But big influencers like Jazzy Jeff or Skratch Bastid who get thousands watching their streams likely get a unit to keep.
Company reps contact content creators and send them loaners. They can then test and create videos beforehand and then release those videos on the given date which I am assuming was 1201 hours on 1/13/2022 because that's when all the videos starting dropping.
You can get portable scratch decks - not great for mixing tho. Other than that, there’s the custom 7” joints that biz Markie was sporting, but I think those were one of a kind.
if you've used a DJM S11 or S7, the mixer part is pretty quick. The rest takes a couple practice sessions. My biggest gripes about the layout is the Instant Scratch being right below the Auto-loop (easy to hit Instant Scratch by mistake and stop the audio to the track entirely) and the 33/45 buttons being right next to the Start/Stop button where it's easy to hit the 45 button by mistake. Only the single shift in the centre isn't ideal either cause some of the shift functions on the platter takes two hands and I'm a firm believer that all shift functions should be accessible with one hand.
@@dantecelle i mean, everyone is biased in one way or another. I did a review on the Rekordbox DDJ1000 and I really liked the controller, but the sound quality wasn't great to my ear and I think the SRT has the same specs and card.
Rane has a bigger platter at 7.2" vs the 7" of the Pioneer. The Pioneer feels bigger though since it doesn't have the 45 adaptor sized thing in the middle.
depends on the mixer - pre 900nxs2, i found pioneer bass to be really weak. Post, it's more in the mid-lows than the subbass. I like the Rane low end a bit tighter (more in their mixers than the one) but the pioneer gear has a bit more in the low mids - like the kick area than the actual bass if that makes sense.

I probably should have done that. I had to return the Rane one tho (borrowed from a friend)
How did u you get Rev?
But.... if you had to pick one, what would be your pick?
if money wasn't a factor - REV7. Still want a ONE with the tonearm mod tho...
Can you beat juggle or scratch? That's important
To me the pioneer sounded a little fuller, but it was really hard to tell until the mid and lower ends came in. Almost didn't hear a difference in the beginning.
Great 👍 sounds
i tried rane one, and quality sound is better than rev 7. or is there any way to fix sound quality on rev 7?
Rev7 sounds good to my ear - it’s ultimately personal preference at this point
@@djsoo i like rev 7 because has more tech, but the sound to my ears is killing me, i had rane one for 30 days, now i just got rev 7. Also eq's. i can tell are better on rane one. am not a dj, but i like when music is crispy..
@@edwinaguirre236 i don't find it that far apart. you could try running it through a line mixer or graphic eq to smooth out some of the frequencies you don't like.
this slow and steady track is fire
Let me know where to get that song at?....👊👍👍
Link is in the description
@@djsoo .. thanks I found it on tidal.... saved it to my play list
@@joemunoz111 i forgot we put that out on cygnus. Funny thing is i got a copyright warning on this vid due to that tune. A tune that I made :(
Rane One all day for hip hop, r&b, old school djs like myself. I don’t really care about effects so a good crossfader and the hot jams are all I need to move a dance floor. Controllers and other gadgets are just tools to get the job done.
the xfader on the REV7 is way better than the one on the One. I prefer the platters on the One tho...
@@djsoo innoFADER all the way for me
@@DjSmoothNY the magvel on the rev7 is still better imo - the flaw in the Rane one is that the fader is entirely serato controller rather than hardware routed like on the rev7 (and the Rane four for that matter) so there’s more latency and the curve isn’t as nice.
@@djsoo have u ever used an innoFADERPRO? I’ve used mine since they first came out so I guess my opinion is based on experience. I have the Rane 72MK2 and Twelves and I’m really not impressed with the fader but it gets the job done. lol. I’m not to into scratching anymore and my clients don’t really care for it.
Great video
Quick question if someone can answer this. Microphone output good or bad on either one.
I didn’t do a comparison and returned the one to the owner a while back. Sounds pretty good on my streams at least
Nice one fam, big up!
how do you get those controllers? are they sending them for free to you?
I write reviews for djtechtools and make these videos to compliment those written reviews.
I get units to test out but have to send them back eventually.
@@djsoo is that the same for heavy hitters like jazzy jeff? or does he get to keep them lol
@@danizm78 i have no doubt that if he doesn't get to keep them, he gets a substantial discount. But big influencers like Jazzy Jeff or Skratch Bastid who get thousands watching their streams likely get a unit to keep.
Wait how did you get this two weeks ago? Super curious
Company reps contact content creators and send them loaners. They can then test and create videos beforehand and then release those videos on the given date which I am assuming was 1201 hours on 1/13/2022 because that's when all the videos starting dropping.
Do you know there are turntables of the same size on the market?
Which ones?
You can get portable scratch decks - not great for mixing tho.
Other than that, there’s the custom 7” joints that biz Markie was sporting, but I think those were one of a kind.
wowzers! you have one!!
the pioneer has more presence for sure. a little nicer me thinks
How are the phono preamps compared to each other?
Check out my preamp comparison video! ruclips.net/video/7ftTxIPPS8s/видео.html
@@djsoo yea nice one will do
I want those tracks !!!
Links are in the video description!
Test over....they sound the same....now it's just down to preference
I want that trap beat... FIRE BEAT!!
Rev 7 For 2K it should sound a lot better. It's too close to call. I want to know how long it takes you to know the layout.
if you've used a DJM S11 or S7, the mixer part is pretty quick.
@@djsoo These DJ's that were sent the Rev 7 i'm sure are a little bias. I want to watch a lot of 1000SRT VS Rev7 videos
@@dantecelle i mean, everyone is biased in one way or another. The REV7 is designed with a hip hop dj in mind - which I am at heart - so that's going to color my view and inform how I look at it and is a big reason why I like it so much.
In terms of the SRT vs the REV7, I don't actually have one to do a comparison, but the target market are very different DJs.
I did a review on the Rekordbox DDJ1000 and I really liked the controller, but the sound quality wasn't great to my ear and I think the SRT has the same specs and card.
Nice track
Which one has bigger platters?
They both are same size 7 in platters
Rane has a bigger platter at 7.2" vs the 7" of the Pioneer. The Pioneer feels bigger though since it doesn't have the 45 adaptor sized thing in the middle.
maybe its just me but the Rane One sounds better or am being bias because i have a rane one idk!!
I think the Pioneer mixers have always sounded a bit bassier than equivlanet Rane mixers, I think I can hear it here too
depends on the mixer - pre 900nxs2, i found pioneer bass to be really weak. Post, it's more in the mid-lows than the subbass. I like the Rane low end a bit tighter (more in their mixers than the one) but the pioneer gear has a bit more in the low mids - like the kick area than the actual bass if that makes sense.
Pioneer is slightly thicker in the lowmidrange. Like a db or so
Is it just me or is the pioneer controller blinking nonstop?
It’s probably something to do with frame rate in the recorded video and you don’t actually see that in person
@@DJ-Coma tks
@@AlexDJCavalcanti no problem. Would love to have this confirmed by Dj soo
The Rev is more bass, and the Rane seems to be clearer, which depending on your music choice!!
Pioneer makes my monitors bounce alil more
Both sounds great.but the REV7 is way better.. ✌️🙂
