Let me know who you would have in, say, your top 3. I tried to go for guys who don't always get their respect in these types of lists... but some guys you HAVE to include!
Gilbert Burns and Demian Maia both have a mountain of gold medals from bjj competition between them. In terms of mma bjj, Charles Oliveira can lock up a sub out of nowhere. Those are the first ones that come to mind but I guess they're kinda obvious
Charles olivera, Gunnar Nelson, Brian Ortega. That would be my top 3 great from any position on the ground, creative submission styles. All 3 can also be offensive with takedowns to get to dominate positions
Check your stats big Mike. Chael has never lost a fight. He literally just won a 5 fight, one night tournament in Vegas a couple months back. Dude is undefeated.
I would put also Paul Craig in the mix, the guy has 13 submission out of 16 wins, and also 8 submission from 8 fights in amateur fights...unbelievable statistics for the guy, he submitted guys like, Krylov, Jamahal Hill, Ankalaev
All time UFC list, Naz. I got 2 active UFC fighters in there - and think they both go in ahead of Craig right now. But, yeah, he'd have been good mention
Just like to point out: everyone mentions Oliveira's record for submissions but he actually holds the record for overall finishes as well. The man is criminally underrated. I actually saw some dweeb on twitter say he was champ due to "dumb luck" since chandler knocked him down and he allegedly hooked poirier's glove...can't make this stuff up. 10 consecutive wins, 9 finishes, nearly slept by the hardest hitter at 155 only to knock him out in the second round, takes out the guy everyone considered the true champ (diamond) with a RNC in a different round than the alleged glove grab (which there is no conclusive evidence of happening but if it did it was literally less than 2 seconds)..."dumb luck" i swear, some of these ppl who think they're mma fans need to switch to golf or bowling.
@bob it definitely changed the course of the fight. Dustin had won the 1st round. He landed about 50 plus strikes. When the second round began It was even up until a minute into it. Oliviera tried to get a takedown on Dustin; which dustin escaped pretty well; all that was left to do was take his hand out from between Olivieras legs but he couldnt cause of the glove clinch. Dustin must have not known this because for some reason he rolled when he didnt need to. The next 4 minutes Oliviera took advantage of dustins roll and mounted him for the next 4 minutes decisively taking the round and dustins momentum. CHARLES IS A BEAST I DONT WANT TO TAKE AWAY FROM HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE DESERVES IT. To say that the glove clinch did not change the course of the fight is ridiculous tho. I really think it was weird that herb dean did not see it for the duration of the 4 plus seconds it lasted. Edit: bob has since deleted his comment about how a hooked glove or fence grab has ever significantly altered a fight.
I feel like Alexey Olenik should have gotten a mention too. He has submitted Hunt and Werdum, and I believe he has the most scarf hold and Ezekiel choke finishes in the UFC. And the 2nd most submission wins in heavy weight, 7. I don't think he would be at the top, just worth a mention.
@@miguelmontero2841 Werdum’s the one who should have made it, regardless of the circumstances he dethroned Fedor and won the belt from Cain submitting both
Hi Mike. Just so you know. Watching your videos is real inspiring for me, they are my favourite way to relax and this is coming from a struggling musician that is 4 years clean from drugs and still juggling a gruelling daytime job. You never know what's waiting around the corner and sometimes it can even take years, but things always change for the better if you persist. I hope you see this Mike. Thanks again for the videos man 👍👍

Knew before the video started who was 1 & 2 Olivera is an animal yo his last fight he just jumped on buddy back and tapped him out dude a monster I love how aggressive he is wit it you know what he trying to do he knows you know doesn’t give a fuck you can’t stop him
As an MMA nerd I'm really enjoying your channel. You present some really interesting in depth facts. Keep it coming. I agree with your list, but I think Jeremey Horn, Rousimar Palhares, and Josh Barnett could deserve an honorable mention.
Hey Mike, what about Alexey Oleynik. He isn't named the boa constrictor for nothing. Love your Chanel.
I would love to see a Fight between Oliveira and Khabib... I cant even imagine how that would be.
Smesh, smesh, choked
Good list, I'll be cheering for Do Bronx to get number 16 next week :)
Uncle Mike, do a video with the best(your favorite) submissions done in the ufc. Most likely ones you’ve seen since you can’t go back and look at all of them.
The way Ryan Hall looked against bjpenn was pretty crazy, I feel like he should be mentioned
Mike you really firing shots at conner with that thumbnail hahaha why not you an GSP? 🤣
I lauv yu mike!!
Great video Michael!
However there was a tiny faux pas in there. You said Maia hit a triangle on the greatest fighter to ever walk the octagon.
Didn’t you know uncle Chael has never lost a fight, not even a round
Watched BJ Penn @NewcastleArena live choking out the Daddy. Only live UFC event I've been to but it was a good one!
No idea what you're talking about. Everyone knows Chael has never even lost a single round, let alone a match. He is the Goat.
