Most LHW’s are a lot more skilled then heavyweights. Thats why DC had so much success as the smaller guy in Heavyweight against slower and less skilled opponents like stipe and Derrick lewis who has no ground game. Prime Jon would easily beat every heavyweight not named Francis or aspinall.
Jones should’ve followed DC to heavyweight in 2017 and he could’ve fought DC STIPE VERDUM JDS CAIN would’ve had the greatest light heavyweight and heavyweight resume by a mile full of legends. Stipe has an 80 inch reach and I can't remember Jones fighting anyone that close to his 84 inch reach? So the normal places Jon Jones feels safe striking with other opponents he won't be safe against Stipe. The major factor will be can Stipe keep up in speed at 42 or will he be overwhelmed by Jones' speed and quickness. Also will Jon Shoot on Stipe in the first 2 minutes? I think Jon sees a submission in Round 1 as his best option to gain victory quickly. Jones has been training with all of those guys like Gordon Ryan and that seems to be Jon's game plan at this weight class. But Jones' footwork has slowed over the last few fights and if Stipe can be proactive and push the pace this might be a really good fight. It will either be a 1 round decimation or long drawn out war but nothing in between.
