  • I noticed that nobody has done a huge video on the Deliquent genre, so I decided to make one. This genre is easily one of my favorites, It’s neck and neck with Shounen
and Seinen. It’s really been a year since, my first delinquent manga video, a little late, but still.
    0:00 Intro
    1:03 History
    2:16 Bebop High School
    4:07 Angel Densetsu
    5:23 Crows
    7:01 Shonan Seven
    7:38 Bakuon Rettou
    8:51 Bremen
    9:24 G.T.O
    10:37 Rookies
    11:59 Clover
    13:04 Hareluya II Boy
    14:10 Rokudenashi Blues
    18:39 A-Bout
    19:56 Nanba MG5
    21:01 Chameleon
    21:27 Ningen Kyouki Katsuo
    22:58 Bad Boys
    24:00 Beelzebub
    24:57 Ochanigosu
    25:30 Out
    26:45 Gang King
    28:04 Drop
29:02 My Favorite Manga Of All Time
    31:30 Outro
Took a bit more time but I think it came out well.

It’s been a year and I finally made the video I always wanted to make , I definitely wanted to improve that’s probably why it took so long and I’m satisfied and happy with how it came out. It was probably the most challenging video I’ve ever made and a lot of things happened that delayed it. At first I wasn’t satisfied or really happy with any of it I thought about how I could make it better and improve and make it perfect but ultimately I thought about it and said to myself that “ What’s the point of making this video if I’m not having fun in the process.” Thats why this video is all over the place, and that’s why this video is awesome!

Delinquent manga is probably one of the few types of fiction that can unironically be called "peak fiction". Why? This genre just never disappoints with the dripped out and iconic characters, amazing stories and themes, and inspirational messages. And because of how much delinquent culture values individuality and going against the norms, every manga from this genre always provides a unique story and character design that is special in their own way, something most other manga genres mess up on (i.e. isekai). I really loved your presentation of this genre and you did it such justice with this video. Thanks for showing the world the meaning of "peak".

It was simple and ended in a perfect way. Clover was good but by the time it reached chapter 100 it kinda dragging after that but still good though. But i kinda read it in time to time cause it was too long.

Before GTO, there is manga called Shonan Junai Gumi, the journey is about Ryuji and Onizuka at their early days. I think it introduced me to manga delinquents and Kyou kara ore wa and Crows makes me like the genre. If you like Out you should read the manga, "The Bouncer" it's set in the same universe as Out

    • @randallflagg3700
      @randallflagg3700 Месяц назад +5

@@tristinflore "Drop" is also in the same universe, but it's set in the past, when "Tat-chan" was in high school... but "Bouncer" is indeed a must read for "Out" fans, since they take place at the same time, and several characters even cross-over from one manga to the other from time to time, so if you really want to understand 100% of the story (which gets fairly complex) then it's mandatory reading.
Fair warning though, "Bouncer" is even _more_ violent than "Out", which was already pretty out there and had some murders, torture, SA... it's what I like about that universe, even if Tatsuya Iguchi's catch-phrase in "Drop" is that humans don't die easily, well, sometimes they do.
Most delinquent mangas have fights that end up with everyone bloodied up and laughing it off smoking a cig and after a couple days in the hospital at worst they're good as new. Most times the villain gets knocked out and that's it, problem solved, he doesn't come back for revenge and stabs you in the back when you least expect it...
In "Out & Bouncer", legs and arms get crushed in grotesque fashion, ears gets torn off, people get stabbed, arms gets cut off, characters get shot in the head, they die, they go to prison, they get captured and tortured (at least in this universe they show what happens when a bosozoku gang loses, in most mangas they just disband and aren't heard from again, in this one there are actual consequences), horrible stuff happens.
It's not a "feel good" delinquent manga, but it's a realistic one.

I got into a lot of fights in middle school, continued to fight in high school, and then it even continued to a degree in the military. Very rarely would things come to blows there, but there was plenty of submission holds. I've always fully embraced resolving disputes with some degree of violence, that said I never really got the delinquent archetype in manga/anime. Even the anime I really liked like Yu yu hakusho I'd wonder if Yusuke and Kuwabara would be better characters if they weren't delinquent tropes.
Then I watched this video and saw a guy talk about how crows are great actually, something everyone aside from farmers should recognize, and then also pine over some photo that isn't his of a girl he's never met. Now I get it. Thank you for the video.

Dude I can’t explain how happy I am to see Bebop Highschool being discussed!! I fell in love with the anime with the really low quality RUclips uploads. If you like Bancho you guys should read Rainbow; it’s not strictly bancho but it deals with similar themes fans of Bancho will definitely appreciate!!

currently working on my own manga, as it happens it's characters are mainly delinquents. I didnt know about the manga rookies but your description is literally what i've been aiming for for my own manga. it's a manga with a 10 year long story, it's disguised as a sports manga as it's about the 80s/90s world of streetracing & carculture in japan. While yeah it's a loveletter from me to that culture but it's a story that's more about the characters and their lives, dreams & goals. thx for the awesome video and recommendations man

I Agree, this is the greatest manga genre and i have not even start to see the video. I hope you speak about BAD COMPANY, the prequel of the prequel of GTO. That is one of the most beautiful friendship stories ever, i just love that manga.
And maybe this is not exactly delinquent genre, but Mangas as far as Ashita no Joe have this kind of vibes and stories. Is great to see more content about it

So, I've been doing this really intense workout with kettlebells lately, and my goal is to do it every single day, the problem is that my body is destroyed today, it's so sore than I can barely walk straight. I was going to take a day off...but then I watched this video and I will hit it right now no matter how much it hurts. Why? I don't know this video just inspired me, I want to be more like these characters, and they would definitely hit the workout no matter what lol. Seeing them drenched in blood and sweat and still on their feet ignited a fire inside of me, and mind you, I never read any of these manga, it's just the video that inspired me, so thank you for making it!

I loooove delinquent manga. I’ll definitely check out the couple I haven’t read yet. My favorite on the list is still probably Out because of the stakes that it goes to and has a huge cast. Though being a bit older in life I prefer Bouncer from the same mangaka. I have also work bar security, so it’s a bit more relatable I guess. Good video, thanks for putting this list together.

Your description of the delinquent genre got me thinking about the korean manwa I read. A bunch of the stories I like are arguably spins on the delinquent concept: a student arrives at a new school and fights their way up a ranking of school delinquents, usually ending up fighting organised crime by the end. The protagonists aren't really delinquents but I think their stories are probably influenced by the manga genre. Some examples: Designated Bully, Study Group, Weak Hero, Questism, Reality Quest, Viral Hit. Maybe it's a stretch? I just think it's an interesting comparison.

This so peak oml. Finally some attention for Kyou Kara Ore Wa and Ochanigosu. Technically, the other author's work (Tenshi Na Konamaiki) doesn't exactly fall under the delinquent genre, but still has delinquents inside and arguably equally goated as KKOW, albeit in a different way.

Really amazing video. As a fellow (much smaller) manga tuber, I understand how long some of these shots must have taken. Making the panels move like that, all of the editing is amazing. I think most of the script is good too, but concluding sentences would do a lot for video flow. I understand you were going for quick, sporadic segments, but just a quick "This manga is a great starter delinquent manga that I really enjoyed" or smth. I think you did this pretty well to close out the first segment about the Bebop manga.
Thanks for making a high quality video that is clearly filled to the brim with passion. You're amazing.
