I got two bikes from Himiway. I took extra time on both for assembly. About 3 hours for each. I did controller mix updates. Adjusted the breaks. Went over the bikes like I would an airplane preflight. I'm
Very happy with the bikes.
I recommend taking
Your time. Check every thing out and make the proper adjustments.
I love my bikes and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks for the tips!
Roy You did it right. I also have this Himiway and it kicks all others near it's price range and a bunch that cost way more. I take My beast everywhere. I did put the Hydraulic brake calipers I bought from Bolton eBike on the Himiway. Love them too for the smooth full stop I get.
I got a thumb attachment that went right over the twist for like 18$ for both of our bikes and works 👍🏼 great. I know my Himiway was awesome right out of the box, but my husband had an issue with his controller. Took months to get a replacement that didn’t work then another that didn’t work to finally get another one that did. I had no issues with the light except I wanted the light you had and they gave me an upgraded one that is only a beam instead on a wide look. Really bummed. But they did send me one eventually after I complained lol. But hey I get over 55 miles on one charge and I’m 335 lbs and use the assist. But I do pedal. It has been a blessing to get an ebike without going bankrupt lol and allows me to get out there.
I had my bike professionally assembled. I have almost 700 miles on it since getting it in mid October and would have more like a 1,000 if not for the Northeast winter. I trail ride 90% of the time with mine and it's really fun. Tires go over anything. So far my only issue (besides the breaks in need of serious adjusting) is the plastic button controller (with the plus/minus, etc. buttons) slowly raised up in the in the middle on the side of the controller creating a noticeable gap. It still works 100% but I worry about water getting in there. so I might just put some silicone and hopefully fill it. Himiway customer service was responsive and said they would send another unit but say it will require the controller display to be replaced as well and I need to put a $99 deposit for them to do so. That's why I just might seal it with the silicone and if that works then I'm fine with that. The break were in need of adjusting after like 400 miles and I did the best I could but I could not get them even close to 100%. I'll have the bike shop tune it anyway in the Spring as I probably need a new chain and other tune up stuff.
Sounds like it’s working out for you. Glad to hear.
The suspension seat post and a cloud 9 seat are needed, and they work great! Get some inexpensive hydraulic brakes...a nice improvement. Get a thumb throttle if you must...no biggie. You need a mirror on the left side, and where's your water bottle? This bike is better than units costing twice as much!
After 15,000 miles in 8 years on a home made e-bike I look forward to my new Himiway (next week) am 73 and need a twist grip as my thumb is old and that is two much any more. I expect to make a few upgrades in the days ahead and that is the fun part. Looks like am starting with a good base so watch my dust.. 🙂
I just put some Bolton Ebikes hydraulic calipers on my Himiway. $150.00 great upgrade. The break noise was my only issue. The duel piston calipers are so smooth and quiet. Awesome bike for the money.
Cool. Glad it helped. I’m a big fan of hydraulic.
My brakes works so sweet ive had my Himiway ebike 2weeks & 220 miles.
Yes you can always upgrade to a thumb throttle, lights and whatnot.Nice ride.
You're probably having issues with the front brake because your cables are routed behind your handlebars, as opposed to in front. Also, look at the cable going into your left (front) brake lever. It's loose and probably not doing anything. Get those cables routed in front and tighten that front brake cable so that the silver part sits in tight. I can actually see the wire in this video. Shouldn't be like that. Hope that helps.
Thanks.
Ironic, I noticed the cables not in the proper position in a previous vid of this gentlemen and should have mentioned. Good find.
Shred, Great video and responses, bottom line is the bang for the buck. All of these minor issues can be fixed over time. But for $1500 bucks, is there really any competition? especially for some of us poor people with more since, tools and knowledge than money, right! Most of us weren't always on a financial budget...
Keep up the good work! Sprad
Thanks did the kind words. No competition. Plus I just reviewed the RadRover and the Himiway blows it away in terms of power. Video to come shortly. 🤜
Maybe some of the trouble you are having with the brakes have to do with how you routed the lines behind the bars rather than in front!
For sure i have since realized that.
Complaining about no rear suspension is kind of petty considering you knew they weren't part of the package.
My back light broke the same way. Can it be fixed. If so how.
Guess it needs to be resoldered
link to that phone mount?
That mount sucks. You don’t want it.
Dude You sound very rough on Your equipment !! I have this bike and never had Your problems. Question - - - Why are all the wires draped over Your LCD ?? Put the bars on correctly and they remain out front of everything. Shredder needs more instructions.
Good points. I was only reviewing the bike for a few days. No longer have it. :) Shredder always needs more instructions.
I received a Himiway last week. Complete junk. Never worked. Error 22, 24, 25. After a week of going back and forth, they’re sending me new brakes, throttle, and motor. I don’t even want the bike. Opened a buyer dispute with PayPal. Got the motor kind of working with the most terrible noise. Not enough to power to take over for pedaling.
Sorry to hear. Yes definitely a low end bike especially for the price
This dude is way too picky this bike is amazing for the price. You need to spend a few grand more to get what you want bro
You have the bike together wrong, cables go out in ft , the left brake cable is not in the holder, , no wonder you don't care for the brakes...
I was just testing the bike but yes you are correct. It was my mistake. 🤜
Sounds like a case of "you get what you pay for" ..
For sure
If I see, that your brake cabels are not even mounted right into the brake handle, but it has to be right and all the cabels are on the wrong side of the handlbares. You should really mount the bike right, before you do a video like this. This looks really dangerous ^^.
I noticed that. Wonder why he did that?
Was my bad. Didn't realize the cables were on the wrong side of the handlebars until later.
