I have a uniden pc68ltw which needs help.. My 68 works great, but the squelch needs to be almost fully closed to block the static, and even with it up, i still hear stuff in the background. It's almost like the squelch isn't blocking the sound it just quieter it until something breaks the squelch.. anything I can do to fix it? I just did an irf520 conversion on it, and it's working great besides the squelch

Sorry I said the wrong shafts on the potentiometer. Outer is front, inner is back.
