    "I almost died! I would have been exploded! My bike would have been in pieces and on fire! Me this! I that! Me me me!" And absolutely no mention of the other guy getting killed over his mistake.

      This should be the top post! This was exactly what I was thinking while listening to him. People like this think the world around them is a like some sort of video game and they are the only thing in it that actually matters in it.

    I would only top my bike out if I was riding alone only a lonely road. Not with other riders with me. That's too dangerous.

    • @Kitsune0268
      @Kitsune0268 9 лет назад +6

      Alfonso Ramos That's why I ride _alone._ Being surrounded by a bunch of other speeding, unpredictable yahoos adds an even greater element of danger, on top of that you have the competitive/adrenalin thing going on when you're riding with other cyclists that you don't have when you're alone. Well, you still have the adrenalin...just not fueling competitiveness.

    More epic vids like this... your definition of epic must really be off. I find nothing epic like a self induced close call between a bunch of inconsiderate riders. Think before you whack that throttle. There might be an unavoidable object there next time.

    Pro Tip: don't say "crash" if no one crashes! Lying in your title and description makes people angry. Surely this is common sense.
    Why not something like "High speed near miss - this guy is SO lucky!"?
    Sigh... You'll learn one day.

    You were "prepared to die at that moment"? Good for you. Was your family and/or friends prepared for you to die, at that moment? This world sucks enough without having idiots do stupid things. What if you would have hit another vehicle and got yourself killed? Is it worth it to put the other driver through the police investigation and any subsequent feelings of (undeserved) guilt or remorse, because you smashed in to him or her because you wanted to have fun on a public roadway instead of a racetrack? I'm not being sour, I've been in your position, until I realized after I lost a close friend on the road. Now, I have still have fun, but I do it on a racetrack.

  • @trackdaze1000

    this is why you have rules when riding with people you trust. just like a track day. why don't you guys have basic rules like no passing on the right, keep right except to pass and no arbitrary quick changes in position within a lane? this is why i quit riding with people i cannot trust not to be stupid.

    cuz the primary definition of a squid is one who does not wear the necessary gear (which i was in full gear...pants, boots, helmet, jacket, gloves) and who rides outside of their own personal limitations (which 160 on a straight road is not for me...ive done it plenty of times.) it was just the sequence of circumstances that led to it being an almost crash, not how we werent "squidding."

  • @TheAK47s
    @TheAK47s 11 лет назад

    oh i did? hm.... review the fucking footage and youll see him cut into MY lane. everyone should have just stayed in their own lanes that they originated in. i did what i had to do to survive the incident, and passed on the right side of him since i was ALREADY ON THE RIGHT OF HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE

  • @TheAK47s
    @TheAK47s 11 лет назад

    haha hey now! i didnt move over for two reasons. one, motonosity was in that lane, and two, if you hit a reflector in the road at 160 youre completely screwed. plus i didnt wanna take my eyes off the road to look to see where motonosity was to see if i could move lanes

Yeah it was close, but he DID take good evasive action, didn't panic and did exactly what you should do... just crack on. I ride with two buddies and we ride fast, and trust each other 100%. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if my mate came past me like that, I'd just buy him a beer for missing!

I also agree rider should have checked, but then even if he did, rider 2 may not have been there at the check, and when he moved over all of a sudden rider 2 is there... look at 2:14 u can see the distance.. now Xs that by 140mph....

    I ride a 2012 GSX-R1000 built by Yoshimura. It is physically impossible to push the limits of the bikes ability on a public road, hence the reason I started a race team. Have I ever pushed the limits of a bike on a public road? No, because I started riding at 6 years old and was on a race track long before I had a license to drive on pubic streets. I am a lot faster than most riders, but I ride far beneath what I am capable of on public roads.

  • @SuperbikeShaun
    @SuperbikeShaun 11 лет назад

    Another kid who has no idea wtf he's talking about. Did you look at my videos before commenting? If you had I'm sure you would've known better than to say I don't know anything about bikes. Been riding 29 years, I've forgotten more than you'll ever know. There are protocols to follow when riding in groups, obviously they had set no parameters and were simply riding recklessly (I.E no idea what the hell they're doing). Also, nice chicken strips. Try leaning your bike sometime.

    ACTUALLY!!!!!! "How would getting mad help the situation....?" That's the 2nd questions I asked, and guess what!? It's still there in writing so you must just read what you want. Once again you're changing subjects (and didn't depart from commenting as you said), lets go back. How can you point blame??? Accuse me of want you want but it's clear I'm the better and more informed rider of the 2 of us :D Tired of you're "I'm right" attitude....bye girl!

  • @DearMajesty
    @DearMajesty 11 лет назад

    since you don't know much about bikes yes. Basically the 650's like the sv650 and the ninja 650 use 650cc engines. They are a v-twin design which means more power down low and less at the top end...more torque but less horsepower. They aren't jerky around town and make decent starter bikes. Most 600's use inline-4 designs so they make much more power in the top end, but very little in the low and are twitchy as fuck at low speeds. G'luck choosing your bike mate.

  • @yes333yes
    @yes333yes 11 лет назад

    Actually I wasn't defending anything, I was making a point (or two). You were obviously looking at it from 1 perspective (not aks') and failed to see the mutual blame. Group rides can be dangerous if there is no organization (like this video), but skilled/experienced riders know how to prevent those dangers. It's good to be a defensive rider but to be a closed minded rider is dangerous!
    Quite a jump from what you actually wrote to you claiming you were saying "it could have been avoided".

  • @motonosity

    How am I riding like I'm on a track? I am by no means pushing my limits, I actually don't even touch my brakes at all, with the exception of going downhill on The Snake because of the steep grade. I am probably riding at maybe 50% of a race pace in the canyons, leaving myself plenty of leeway for any unexpected surprises (Dirt/debris, idiots who cross the double yellow, etc.)

  • @SuperbikeShaun
    @SuperbikeShaun 11 лет назад

    Again, on a literbike coming on the gas exiting the corner, the front tends to get light, usually requiring modulation of the rear brake. And please, show me the video where my throttle control leads to instability? Do you know the difference between riding a 600 and a 1000 (I.E corner speed Vs. point and shoot)?? How about you stick to video games and leave the riding to me.

  • @j2tmfc

    I wouldnt be scared of that. What is worse is when a cow/horse/deer/bird etc runs out on you as then its "in gods hands" as the buggers can go any way. I hit something (never found it) at around 100 and it was like hitting a wall. Serious. I thought the bike had exploded the bang was that big. Bike left the ground and I had to change my pants. Ride safe guys.

    From the guy on the green bikes comments he says it was his fault and I agree. If he was going to stay it that lane he should of been looking far enough ahead to see the other guy and stayed far to the right, right next to the white line. It looks like he was coming up on the other rider right behind him and they both moved to the right at the same time.
    Careful out there!

    a 600 will take you 140mph+ just don't expect to get there as fast as a guy that weights 145lbs. If you're gonna go that fast make sure you do it somewhere safe that you've already checked the road and you're wearing full gear. Good Luck!

    You might be able to hit 140mph with a 650cc bike with a few mods. They are good starter bikes. Do not go for any of the 600's because they are too fast for you man. Your weight does not affect your top speed, only acceleration

He got the best of me when I high-sided in the mountains though, snapped my arm almost completely off. I've saved my self plenty of times racing on the freeways of So. Cal. using the counter steer method, it was one of the first things I was told to learn by veteran riders back before the Yamaha RD came out. Back then MC's weighed over 500-600 lbs. take care

  • @12monkeys55555

    I've rode sport bikes for 20 years and raced at tracks (With friends.) and I've seen people die as a result of fucking stupid mistakes and I've made stupid mistakes (Didn't kill anybody.) If you look at this vid and think it's ok, then you never rode with other guys at speeds over 120 in the mountains. Plus, defending the other rider, have you ever seen what another MC coming at you at over 120? those shitty mirrors are crap and they vibrate so really can't tell how fast someones coming.

    Its easy to avoid a crash over the internet isnt it? Why would the Kawi going 150mph+ in the right lane turn into the left lane if the 80mph Kawi is in that lane?!? He planned to have the right lane all to himself, but the slower Kawi turned into his lane 100 feet in front of him. If you actually rode a motorcycle you would know that 100 feet, going 150+mph = about 1/4 of a second! The faster rider did exactly what he's supposed to to avoid the crash, you cant turn a sportbike that quick!

  • @ffxisimho
    @ffxisimho 11 лет назад

    I usually dont defend myself to people who make no point. They all three were going over 100. I'm sure you have done it before? Dont me you haven't cause you would be a lair. Also You can't be a perfect driver because of someone else? what? lol I'm sure he was lucky not saying he wasn't but at least he was quick enough that he got away. And now we can watch his awesome youtube video of nearly death experiance :)

  • @ffxisimho
    @ffxisimho 11 лет назад

    He was in his lane which was clear. His buddy pulled over into his lane without judging the speed the other guy was going. Look at the video again. What does drivers training tell you to do when someone is coming into your lane? "Keep going right" Correct? They all were doing over 100 so trying to blame the guy behind him is ignorant because he was doing what they all were doing...just longer. I give the guy props at least he's not riding around without a helmet or gear like most.

  • @ffxisimho
    @ffxisimho 11 лет назад

    Well sorry to burst your "omg I'm so awesome and a such a perfect rider!" It looks to me like he did exactly the right thing in that situation. He kept his eyes on where he needed to go rather than in the back of that dudes bike...easiest way to tell that is that he was all the way on the white line before he started correcting himself. Just because he was doing 160 doesnt mean he doesnt know what he is doing. Just means he wanted to let lose a little with his buddies. Btw all in proper gear.

  • @Islandboy2115flx
    @Islandboy2115flx 11 лет назад

    Part 2
    When traveling at speeds upwards of 150+, closing distances decrease at INCREDIBLE speeds! If he waited 1-2 seconds to move over and let off the throttle he would have been dead. That's how serious it is. Sure the video looks fast, but somehow may not seem to really be THAT fast, but trust me 160MPH on a superbike physically & mentally feels more like 220mph in a supercar. So with that said, imagine being the rider coming up on another vehicle 70ft away @ a closing speed of 150+mph..

    Part 1
    Ahh! Some of these comments are killing me! >:-(!!!!! Damn, c'mon kids. Listen, if you truly believe that what you just saw in the video was NOTTT a close call.....then you are in NO way shape or form, a motorcycle rider (meaning you do not understand such situations in full). I am very happy that the rider was able to escape that near death experience.
    (The rest of this comment is called Part 2)

    You were speeding at 160 mph (but let's say the speed limit was 70mph), and you were passing another vehicle on the right. Does the word 'stupidity' enter your brain at all? Did you think that 'maybe' you could've killed the other rider, who may have family or someone that depended on that person to provide for that family? Maybe a law suit against you (should you have survived), your family, estate, etc.? Or that you or the other rider survives and become vegetables for the rest of your lives?

    1) Speeding - do a trackday or two! Leave the high speed on the track.
    2) Block off mirrors, keeping one bar-end mirror on the left... Lack of visibility and awareness. If you ride in a group, you have to watch over your back and front.
    3) Passing on the right side? Whyyy? The left lane was empty..
    Really... Such a dangerous and stupid situation... Straight road, great weather, day time and in the same direction... Good that you sorted it out in the last seconds. It could be much worse.

    It seems that in the US there's absolutely no lane order. In EU the 2006 zx6r owner would have overtaken the other guy on his left side almost in any situation, and that's because the other guy would have stayed on the first lane from the beginning (switching to second lane only if he needed to overtake some other vehicle, while making sure there is nobody overtaking him at the same time).
    That would not have happened if the 2012 zx6r owner would have looked in the mirrors before crossing lanes.

    What you do is not on you if what you are doing is putting other peoples lives at risk without their consent, it is the height of selfishness. Drive safe means drive safe, not, bite the bullet and hope you get away with it this time without taking your own life or fucking up someone else. Welcome to RUclips, i will continue to share my opinion, if you like it or not. Ride safe...or at least don't take anyone else out when you inevitable off yourself please.

    This is yet another video where you have taken the point of defending the wrong side of the issue, the idiot passed on the right at an extremely excessive speed, a terribly reckless thing to do, for yourself and the unaware general public. oh, and the rider in question (lane changer) commented, he did see his bud's headlight, just completely misjudged his EXCESSIVE speed. and you wonder how it happens to cagers....

  • @corykarp4329
    @corykarp4329 11 лет назад

    And this is exactly why "cagers" turn left in front of bikes, if you can't tell how fast your buddy is going on his bike when you know and are expecting him to be recklessly breaking the speed limit, how can you possibly expect a car driver to properly judge in the same situation when they DON'T know just how fast your bikes can go, add to that the reduced size, and resulting visibility issues, it is like asking to get offed. I hope one the things learned was the speed limit.

    To those blaming the guy who changed lanes.... Clearly you don't understand the concept of speed over distance... There's no way the guy who changed lanes could have checked his blind spot and see some tool coming at 160mph... That's 230 ft per second... Or 70m per second to those who don't speak in ft. So tell me how can you plan for some other rider approaching at those speeds before switching lanes?

    You don't own a bike fitted with an adjustable steering dampener and seems like you only ride on highways as fast as a 600cc bike will go... But on a straight line... are you afraid of the mountain roads? Here there are no other vehicles to crash into and your only option to go fast is to "lean" your ass into the corners or crash... Watching you ride I think we both know which will occur first. Dude learn to ride within your limits.

    There is nothing you can say to convince those of us with riding experience that this was safe. Especially considering "that wasn't as scary as my tank slapper". Really? Increased speed on a road with potential bumps = tank slapper. Nearly 1 mile every 20 seconds on a public road!? Obviously public by other traffic. And yes. Kids riding recklessly like that does produce bad press. "Another 18 year died today while driving with excessive speed" is not an uncommon article in the cali paper...

    To the guy riding the zx6... If you hit him at 300km/h you both would be dead... You should think of whom you'd be taking with you if you crash. We all love high speeds on bikes... But pick your places... Get a real bike I suggest 1000cc and you won't need a freeway/motorway to reach 300km/hr or 159mph. Learn to ride mate... Before you kill someone and destroy their families and yours.

    I understand the "need for speed"...I've crested 120 more than once (late at night on an empty highway)...but then there is just plain STUPID! It gets expotentially more difficult to clench that horseshoe between your cheeks the closer you get to 160...and it is a bitch if you drop it...I find it very difficult to "like" this video...I wouldn't want to see something tragic befall a favorite motovlogger...
