I just recently got into OSRS ( I played very very briefly when I was a kid) and it's a strange feeling being hooked on these history videos of a game I didn't even grow up in. But I always wondered how people commented on videos of vanilla WoW saying the same thing. Now I know the feeling.

J1mbo...this is honestly the best RS video I've ever watched. #1, the charisma. Hella. #2, this is a badass brief overview of RS history. #3, this was one hell of a nostalgia trip. I started playing RuneScape when I was in 6th grade back in 200...4? Something like that. Met my best friend through it that year or maybe the year after. I used to go on leave and crash with him for 2 weeks straight. Still do. I saw this whole debacle and it's honestly comforting to know other dudes are still out here that get it and saw it and went through the nonsense and still love this thing. I forgot a lot because I barely play anymore but some of my best memories were escaping into RunEscape with my boy with zero regard for efficiency because it just wasn't a thing. Killing moss giants or just standing in Fally West bank or some random fishing spot was the the funnest part of the game. I think I got like 30something construction on my original account that I eventually gave away and stopping the because the skill had absolutely zero point and I wasn't a big balla shot calla with the capital or dedication to get a guilded altar. Boy this brought back memories. Idk if it just wasn't part of the vid you wanted to make or no one wrote it down, but during that house party era I knew a couple of guys that basically built business empires for as long as we had free trade between players. I got involved early on working for this guy who payed noobs to make teleport tablets in his house. A 25k deposit bought you a starter kit to make 49 teleport tablets and the route was planned and explained to work for exactly 49 tablets. When you finished a job you could either cash out for 50k or take a 25k payment and another set of materials to make more tablets. After being a runner for this guy for a couple months I had enough money to train up my own construction level and build my house to be a tablet sweatshop too. I bought my soft clay and teleport runes from the 'business owner' and basically worked as a manager running my own set of workers making teleport tablets. We organized massive sales on the forums, me and the 3 or 4 other managers working for the owner, and we all made significant profit just keeping our houses open and trading with the workers. Then the trade limits were put in place and shut down the whole thing, but man it was good while it lasted. For months afterward I continued making tablets in my house to make money and train magic, but it was now RSI-inducing and required paying a butler.

Anyone else remember the glitch in POHs forever ago where you would sit in a chair holding a weapon, click a different weapon in your inventory, then click one of the house setting options and it would force you to stand up, only this time you were holding the second weapon how the first weapon was held? So many great memories holding all the weapons in game like you do the boxing gloves lmao. Good times bring this bug back Jamflex plz.

The thing with wanting to teleport with the fally massacre glitch is that some people did do that, but it reset the variable that was glitched so you were no longer able to kill people.

I was at the falador massacre. I was 12 and lost a whip and almost quit! A whip was 2.6m back then! I like your content because you bring back a lot of memories! Thanks man
I was there during the massacre. It happened because Duriel and anyone else located inside a mini game combat pvp zone in the house like the combat ring were booted from the house from the ring with their attack player function still enabled. Duriel was the only player that went on a major spree. I didn't see him killing people until fally tho. I think many players got logged off when the house crashed and booted everyone but can no longer remember.
I got hella rich when construction was released. Oak planks were selling for like twice the price it costed to make them. I spent hours and hours running planks for money. Then I blew it all on oak planks for my own construction training, and didn’t leave myself enough cash to actually build a cool house. Good times.
J1mmy, with your by release series, I'd absolutely love if you tried the rs3 quest series as a point of comparison. They've done spectacular things with their lore and progression - especially as ironman (There is no mtx). With how much love you actually give to the series, it would at least make for an awesome special episode.
At a much grander scale, end big picture view of the evolution of POH is the devolution of internet culture, and individuality. Long gone are the days where everyone wanted to show off their uniqueness, letting the world know who they are. The early internet was a Wild West. Everyone had their own quirky website, everyone was uploading videos, creating content, and online social platforms were still at its infancy. This was all a new experience, a new way to connect with each other and express ourselves. Like everyone having their own websites, their own personalities in put out there for people to see, player owned houses were yet another way for people to express themselves and have fun with other people. RuneScape was all about having fun, experiencing all the quirky and cool stuff, like a giant virtual theme park. Those times are long gone as a result of us growing up, internet culture maturing and becoming more commercialized and bland, and just the overall state of the world. The mid 2000s really shined on the internet.
I remember the Falador Massacre. I was in elementary school and stayed home sick. Of course while my parents were at work, I loaded up RuneScape on Internet Explorer and went to some house parties. I got killed for the blue party hat I had that was on loan from a classmate. He never talked to me again after that.

Coming back to OSRS and making an Iron Man is the best decision ive made with that game. I have learned so much more about the game that I never even thought I would as a normal account, and it also motivated me to get 99 in 4 different skills. (Hunter, Cooking, Firemaking, Fishing)
Got my house currently set in Hosidious so I can home TP for more efficient Farm Runs. Not gonna lie most of my OSRS experience is based around making my farm runs more efficient.

One of the few times I managed to get on the inside of a scene when it was current, my friend was like 'I have this crazy idea' and for some reason I believed him. God it was like high school with 10 times the drama from all the gold loans and people getting cleaned etc. We started out on w18 edgeville 60x2 (before people realized just how good the odds were for the host at 60 lol), people would come back from a pking trip and think 'man I could double it all'. Managing to get into cora dyce and do proper hosting, 0 risk and even more gold per hour. I RWTed that shit so fast too, first time I'd ever made real money as a teenager. It also made me realize how very prone I was to gambling addiction and has made certain I avoid it at ALL costs in real life.
Not to linger on the Falador massacre but a lot of people have pvp not just Durial, and teleporting or world hopping removed your ability for pvp. for anyone who's interested there's a documentary on it.
You got it 100% right with OSRS - people are just here to do what they never did as a kid (max total, quest cape, whatever it is). Noobs/kids have no reason to play this game, they got Fortnite or Minecraft or whatever to entertain them.

Here I thought you'd bring up that Construction wasn't even included in OSRS on release but quests that gave you con xp were, leading to people who did Darkness of Hallowvale and Eyes of Glouphrie for Con XP before anyone could train it normally.
I think the only thing they really need to improve Construction at this point is training it. Easy fix? Make a "Construction Collection Log" of sorts that rewards you with bonus XP for building a piece of furniture for the first time. Like a decent chunk of xp. Makes things more interesting for mains and irons alike, rewards players at every level, gives better XP rates without actually making anything easier and breaks up the monotony of making Myth Capes and Dungeon doors for 8 hours straight. Would also mean we'd see more diverse, filled out houses, rather than just exclusively efficiency machines
I miss old 2006-2008 house parties. Fighting in the dungeons was fun af - different groups of people fighting for control of the dungeon and forming alliances. Hanging out in the throne room and fighting over who gets to sit on one of the two thrones, and teleporting noobs with the trap door lever. I remember people would host "hotels" where you get to rent a room and they'd give you room service lol. Also players would host fashion competitions, I remember winning 500k from one back in like 2007. Tons of E-dating, role playing and socializing - no one cared about xp waste. Ah, good times... It was cringe but I'll always remember it fondly.
Feedback: I like the format of you being in the video and explaining/hosting it, but don't hold the mic. It makes you looks stiff and is preventing you from gesturing.
Don't forget that, should you get 99 in the skill, you get the Construction Cape. Said cape provides UNLIMITED teleports not only to your house, but to ALL house portals across the world. Combine this with the Crafting Cape, and you can have not only a bank but also 85% of the entire map ingame in your inventory and, with shift click adjustment options, achievable to get to with only a click or two. Construction is quite literally EZscape THE SKILL.
I'm 3 years late to this but you're not asking the real questions here. Forget beds and houseparties, where are the toilets? Not needing sleep is one thing, but our characters don't poop! There is no constructible restroom in the game or anywhere else for that matter.

Yeah, building and rebuilding stuff sucks as a training method, or at least as the ONLY method. The Mahogany Homes thing was very much needed.

I was there during the massacre. It happened because Duriel and anyone else located inside a mini game combat pvp zone in the house like the combat ring were booted from the house from the ring with their attack player function still enabled. Duriel was the only player that went on a major spree.
I didn't see him killing people until fally tho. I think many players got logged off when the house crashed and booted everyone but can no longer remember.
I got hella rich when construction was released. Oak planks were selling for like twice the price it costed to make them. I spent hours and hours running planks for money. Then I blew it all on oak planks for my own construction training, and didn’t leave myself enough cash to actually build a cool house. Good times.

J1mmy, with your by release series, I'd absolutely love if you tried the rs3 quest series as a point of comparison. They've done spectacular things with their lore and progression - especially as ironman (There is no mtx). With how much love you actually give to the series, it would at least make for an awesome special episode.
At a much grander scale, end big picture view of the evolution of POH is the devolution of internet culture, and individuality. Long gone are the days where everyone wanted to show off their uniqueness, letting the world know who they are. The early internet was a Wild West. Everyone had their own quirky website, everyone was uploading videos, creating content, and online social platforms were still at its infancy. This was all a new experience, a new way to connect with each other and express ourselves. Like everyone having their own websites, their own personalities in put out there for people to see, player owned houses were yet another way for people to express themselves and have fun with other people. RuneScape was all about having fun, experiencing all the quirky and cool stuff, like a giant virtual theme park. Those times are long gone as a result of us growing up, internet culture maturing and becoming more commercialized and bland, and just the overall state of the world. The mid 2000s really shined on the internet.

I remember the Falador Massacre. I was in elementary school and stayed home sick. Of course while my parents were at work, I loaded up RuneScape on Internet Explorer and went to some house parties. I got killed for the blue party hat I had that was on loan from a classmate. He never talked to me again after that.

Coming back to OSRS and making an Iron Man is the best decision ive made with that game. I have learned so much more about the game that I never even thought I would as a normal account, and it also motivated me to get 99 in 4 different skills. (Hunter, Cooking, Firemaking, Fishing)

Got my house currently set in Hosidious so I can home TP for more efficient Farm Runs. Not gonna lie most of my OSRS experience is based around making my farm runs more efficient.

Make sure you do the kourend easy diary before you go for the Xerics talisman! It cuts the drop rate from 1/250 into 1/125 :)
The dicing era was glorious. I'm happy it's gone, but it was amazing.
One of the few times I managed to get on the inside of a scene when it was current, my friend was like 'I have this crazy idea' and for some reason I believed him. God it was like high school with 10 times the drama from all the gold loans and people getting cleaned etc. We started out on w18 edgeville 60x2 (before people realized just how good the odds were for the host at 60 lol), people would come back from a pking trip and think 'man I could double it all'. Managing to get into cora dyce and do proper hosting, 0 risk and even more gold per hour. I RWTed that shit so fast too, first time I'd ever made real money as a teenager. It also made me realize how very prone I was to gambling addiction and has made certain I avoid it at ALL costs in real life.
Not to linger on the Falador massacre but a lot of people have pvp not just Durial, and teleporting or world hopping removed your ability for pvp. for anyone who's interested there's a documentary on it.
You got it 100% right with OSRS - people are just here to do what they never did as a kid (max total, quest cape, whatever it is).
Noobs/kids have no reason to play this game, they got Fortnite or Minecraft or whatever to entertain them.

NOTE: All RS3 players have in their POH is train prayer (we have those tele things but theres portable fairy rings and teleportation compactors, and items where u can add most teleports into) basically u don't really use it besides going there weekly to get ur free elite clue scroll..

I've got to lvl 51 in both rc and con exclussively via tears of guthix on my ironman. I project that in about 3 months time I'll be 56 rc and can finally craft double cosmics for mage training arena

Here I thought you'd bring up that Construction wasn't even included in OSRS on release but quests that gave you con xp were, leading to people who did Darkness of Hallowvale and Eyes of Glouphrie for Con XP before anyone could train it normally.
I think the only thing they really need to improve Construction at this point is training it. Easy fix? Make a "Construction Collection Log" of sorts that rewards you with bonus XP for building a piece of furniture for the first time. Like a decent chunk of xp. Makes things more interesting for mains and irons alike, rewards players at every level, gives better XP rates without actually making anything easier and breaks up the monotony of making Myth Capes and Dungeon doors for 8 hours straight. Would also mean we'd see more diverse, filled out houses, rather than just exclusively efficiency machines

I miss old 2006-2008 house parties. Fighting in the dungeons was fun af - different groups of people fighting for control of the dungeon and forming alliances. Hanging out in the throne room and fighting over who gets to sit on one of the two thrones, and teleporting noobs with the trap door lever. I remember people would host "hotels" where you get to rent a room and they'd give you room service lol. Also players would host fashion competitions, I remember winning 500k from one back in like 2007. Tons of E-dating, role playing and socializing - no one cared about xp waste. Ah, good times... It was cringe but I'll always remember it fondly.

Don't forget that, should you get 99 in the skill, you get the Construction Cape. Said cape provides UNLIMITED teleports not only to your house, but to ALL house portals across the world. Combine this with the Crafting Cape, and you can have not only a bank but also 85% of the entire map ingame in your inventory and, with shift click adjustment options, achievable to get to with only a click or two. Construction is quite literally EZscape THE SKILL.

I'm 3 years late to this but you're not asking the real questions here. Forget beds and houseparties, where are the toilets? Not needing sleep is one thing, but our characters don't poop! There is no constructible restroom in the game or anywhere else for that matter.
