MY god, this is the best low voltage alarm system i have ever seen..

Thank you! Yes, you have to connect the board to 3S voltage (11.1 V) in order to measure it. You can connect it anywhere where you have access to battery voltage. Balance port, PCB, connector... doesn't matter. It won't damage the board. Of course, this is just for voltage alarm. KK2.0 uses 5V to operate and this is supplied via BEC's.

Just in the middle of building F450 with KK2.0, have built MWC SE and Naza M, this is my third quad, thanks for the info!

Great tip! I must admit, I didn't thought of that. I do understand why would this work and everything, but it just didn't cross my mind. Thanks! ;)

Unreal video. Thank you. I am building first quad..
I see how you attached to power board and KK.
Next is just to connect the two?
I have just purchased the KK2.1.5 and the HK power distribution board.
I could just use a male/male servo cable to join them, right?

      Exactly! ;)

sorry mate, does KK2.1.5 has the same solder points for (+)&(-) thanx?

    • @eluminerRC
      @eluminerRC  10 лет назад

Yunus Adhy Prasetyo KK 2.1.5 already has the connector pre soldered for the voltage alarm.

Well, you would have to connect the board to 3S voltage somehow. Your best bet is to solder JST connector to that XT60 power brakeout cable. However, since you are beginner, I would suggest that you simply buy separate voltage alarm that connects to battery balance leads. It's not recommended to solder on KK2.0 board if you don't know what you're doing. You could damage the board.

You've placed the male JST with exposed pins on the main power feed, risking a short. The male always goes load side with the female on the battery side. This is a universal DC wiring best practice. In a grounded system (e.g. automotive) the pins are polarized but the hot ping is always shielded on the battery side of the connection.

Dear eRC, it's a great educational video you've done here. But I still am not sure where the connector on the quad pcb goes. Is it connected to the main battery feed? Right between the positive and negative of the battery? Wouldn't that burn the KK 2 board?

    Cool, thank you eRC!

You can't, of course. I didn't intended to connect this to the balance plugs. Why? Because it is one more thing to connect every time I fly. Instead, I have JST soldered to the PCB plate so I just have to connect the main battery leads.

It would be much safer to use only a single, positive wire. The additional GND wire is redundant, as all the circuitry has a common ground.
And one more thing - do not use 3-pin BEC connectors for providing 12V supply i.e. for video transmitter, it may be fatal (I know sth. about that).

I would like to check how to connect the JST plugs to the 3s balance plugs.

I remember watching one of your vdo where you soldered the low volt speaker onto kk2. Have you deleted it?

I should have posted from my martinezdesignuav channel, anyway, liked and subbed.

Actually, I didn't. I've put female JST on main power feed. I'm aware of this wiring practice and that is precisely why I've done that. Although, JST, male or female, doesn't really have exposed pins at all so you are not really risking a short.

FYI, you should not tin the wire before crimping. Lightly tin it after.
