Hi Cody! Without a doubt I would recommend this instrument for your first HG. It's reliable, easy to maintain (which is a big plus), and affordable. Most importantly, you can just pick it up and play it the majority of the time. There is a big deal made of cotton/rosin/string pressure all the time on HG groups, and it's true to some extent, but when you are a beginner it can be deflating to hear that so much time is spent on just setting up the instrument before you can even play it. It would be like having to tune your piano EVERY time before you play it. The Catnip is a bit more forgiving of an instrument as far as set up goes, and you can pick up and play your scales and practice your couping immediately without worry most of the time - it helps a lot to gain momentum to actually practice instead of faffing around with bits and pieces every time. 😽 Send Radoslaw a message and he will set you on the right track.
@@noelle-beaudin Thank you so much for the timely and detailed reply~ ♥ I already sent him an email asking about prices with capos. I appreciate you endlessly.
@@noelle-beaudinThis is great to hear! I also was very curious about the catnip. I wondered, on the site it mentions two trompettes but looks like there is only one, is that correct?
@@marcocammozzo7553 So for the Catnip B it's a trompette and a mouche - this is the setup I have. I have a C trompette with no capo and a G mouche. If I need to make a D trompette I retune. You can ask Radoslaw about changing all that if you want and he can talk to you about it. 😸
The humidity here in Scotland is making it almost impossible for me to keep my banjo just out of tune enough to throw everybody else off.
The worst thing is when you start sticking to your own instrument....
