  • Well, this is what many of you have been waiting for. This yard transformation was absolute mayhem. I initially said no to this cleanup because it was far too bad for me to attempt. The owner really pleaded with me to help, so in the end, after thinking about it overnight, I rolled up my sleeves and got the job done (all for free). Let me tell you, it was pretty horrendous. There were all sorts in here - rubbish, old clothes, old dryers, old washers, dog poo, rat poo, dust, dirt and who knows what else. It was crazy. All up, it took me around 11 hours to complete this section of the job. It also included 3 trips to the landfill and 2 trips to the metal scrappers. This is part 2 of 3.

    _______________________________________________
    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working. All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved.
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

For a garden/outside space to get like this usually means that the owner/renter has had bad depression or anxiety for a long time. The person will have no motivation to do anything, even get out of bed at times. The thought of sorting rubbish, putting it in bins and taking it to the kerbside will be too much to cope with so the easiest thing to do for them is throw it outside. Unfortunately this obviously causes more problems. If in time the depression/anxiety eases then the mess around them will be overwhelming and could cause a relapse, they will probably be too embarrassed to ask anyone for help too. The owner has made an big step in reaching out to get help and it is people like George who can make an enormous difference in someone’s life, mentally, socially and also make it a safer environment, especially when physical disabilities are involved too. I hope George, and all the others who do this realise just how amazing they are and what a difference they make.

Thank you for supporting your friend! The world is full of judgmental people which make it even harder for those of us that struggle with mood disorders or other chronic issues. My neighbor is a veteran that has severe PTSD and is also dying of congestive heart failure. Yet someone in our small town turns him in to the city for his yard being uncared for! It isn't completely neglected, but is messy. I suspect it is a person that goes to the church on the other side of me that is so concerned about the yards on the block. So very Christian of them, to report them rather than ask if they can help! (note sarcasm). @@bobniehaus5053

The wood construction around this mess is not old enough for 20 years. Most plastic trash would be near microplastic or easy to shatter if older. There are a lot of hints, that this trash is max 3 to 5 years old.
But the bigger machines, like the washing machines are older.
In my opinion, someone already cleaned this up once, but the heavier trash stayed.

My mom "helps" a lot, while she dumps stuff in corners for instance in the garden, or just puts things in a bag in a corner inside. That is not helping. Everything I own have a place in the house - it has to be put in it's place again. I have to throw some tantrums now and then, since I am unable to clear it later myself. I can easily see how someones house start looking like this, either inside or outside, and please don't blame on lazyness, drugs or other things the person would be to blame for. If you know someone elderly or someone that is ill, ask them how you can help. Gorge what you have done is priceless
You have given her back a bit of of herself that she thought was completely lost, I know it was a huge effort on your part but it means soo much to her that someone bothered to stop and care about her and that in itself is a magnanimous gift. I hope now she has the courage to keep on going forward and seek help in other areas of her life, a lot of people are unaware or just overwhelmed by taking that first step.
You are a true inspiration may your kindness continue to ripple and never stop ❤🌻❤
